sweedazz101
Minor update/ Questions! So driving along the other day and the rubber from the clutch pedal comes off. Awesome. Made for a unpleasant drive home... Went down to Repco and got some new ones and were a real bitch of a thing to put in but did it eventually. Anyway, few questions to ask you OS'ers Are there any alternatives to the Coby Extractors on TradeMe. Been looking around but cant seem to see any, not saying that they're bad or anything but just seem pricy... Also wondering what some good panel beating places are around Auckland for the old cars?? Any help would be awesome
Beaver
extractors for xflows are pretty easy to find. I bit a heap of guys on here even have a spare set lying about. also keep an eye out on trademe. when I had my cortina they were popping up all the time (I went through three sets haha)

J-W-G
Fark your escort is so much tidier than mine! Looks good though! Itll probably better to just get a new guard and put it on
Bantam
Nice Escort. I had quotes of $5000 for mainly cracked paint and minor rust repairs, with a exterior paint job. Mechanic mate has put me onto this bloke who is into this stuff, not Insurance work. He spent 30 minutes looking at mine and talking, then quoted $1500. Goes in end of September, so will let you know how it goes. Have you seen the guy with the 1600 sport and Mexico turbo in your area? Mexico is insane, sounds crazy. Yeah, def chuck me a message as to how it goes. Would be much appreciated. The orange one? Think I may have seen that. Mexico will keep an eye out. *drool* Oh and also while im here, does anyone know what could be causing the cabin to smell reeeallly gassy. (exhaust fumes) only does it with windows open above 50kmh. Checked all the normal places for problems but can't seem to find any reason? Any ideas?
J-W-G
Mine usually smells like petrol when I start her up, Probably coming in through the heater bowl? Or carb?
peteretep
The smell can be from the petrol cap if its not on properly or the seal is perished, you can get new caps from repco if needed its amazing how much smell a small amount of gas can make
sweedazz101
Cheers guys, will have a look in the weekend. Also have another question, I put in new spark plugs the other week because it had been a while since they'd been changed. Had a look today and one looked like this Any reason why it would be so black after only a week.. with hardly any driving?
peteretep
http://www.centuryperformance.com/spark ... g-192.html see carbon fouled at the bottom, what model of spark plugs are you running?

peteretep
they are the right plugs, have you replaced the leads too? Also, check the gap, it should be 0.8mm I think
sweedazz101
Gonna chuck on some new ones this weekend, see if that helps. Yeah I gapped them all before I put them in. Conclusion: Car hates me.
peteretep
you also have a 30 year old motor which has probably never been taken apart, so its not doing too bad really if it starts in the morning I wouldnt worry about the residue, just keep driving it and if there is a problem, im sure you will find out what it is eventually
sweedazz101
HALP!!! Ok, semi - major problem. Need wheel balancing pretty badly but have lock nuts with no key... Have tried hyper/mag & turbo etc but no luck. Resorted to smashing a socket on it today and managed to get it on but it has been hydraulically tightened or whatevs and ain't comin off. So, yer. Any ideas? Willing to try anything at this stage haha.
dave123456789
Use a longer bar on the socket? If its on that tight even using the key wont making it any easier. Get angry, should come off eventually. Just had the same problem with the mrs car
