Hemi
shouldnt be any sparks at cables at all if everything is bolted on correctly. have you tested siad starter before you put it in?? . as jase siad new starter could be as pwnt as old one
R100
Make sure all your connections are real tight. Check the connections at the battery, if you can twist them with your hand there too loose. Conections to the startet should be tight aswell
drtydog
all conections are tight and in the correct place i'm starting to think corosion inside the solonoid sound like a possibility?
R100
corosion in a slenoid would cause sparks like you described. Solenoids very rarely pack up anyway. Where are the sparks comming from? Will the engine crank over at all ?
Hemi
pull it back out and bench test it , pre enagage starter?? well even if it isnt every you need to check on a start can be done on the bench .
shizzl
tap the solenoid with a hammer
drtydog
it sparks from the main positive cable that bolts to the solenoid, arcing onto the body of the starter, and no it doesn't crank one spark then nothing
R100
Tighten the battery cable to the starter. It will only spark if its loose. If its tight-no sparks
Hemi
as r100 says shit only sparks if its loose
