grdwalker
ive seen in other threads that you have to widen the trans tunnel bit and cut the hole for the gear stick about 2inches back. i mite have a slight issue with this. at the moment i can see that the end of the 4spd gearbox that is in at the moment is right where i need to make the cut, where it joins to the driveshaft. the problem is, it looks as if there is some reinforcing on the tunnel here. is that right? and if so can i cut through it? ill try to get a photo up tomorrow. My name is Russell
I had to half cut through mine also I just folded mine up and welded it so it looked tidy, its never been an issue at wof time or for the cert.
d.p.n.s
even if you have a manual escort tunel you can fit a 5 spped without any issues you do need to cut the escort gearbox mounts from the inside of the tunnel off. and if you cut the hole for the gearstick in a nice rectangle you can flip it 180 degrees and weld it back in and it will look mint. as for the reinforcing on the tunnel i cut mine aswell and never hand any probs with cert/wof. cheers dan

sholdowa
Even the standard Mk.2 RS2000's have that cut in half. Don't worry about that.
escorted
Or you can make some blocks/packers to space the box down a wee bit. Its what i did and it works fine
grdwalker
a friend suggested swapping the extension housing from the 4spd to the type 9. is this possible or completely impossible?
