OSM Garage
Thought id try and post it up here. Long story short.............I have no oil pressure. Is this a common issue with the 4G? Are there tips and tricks to get pressure? Ive come to a brick wall.
macabre
mm ive never really been able to raise the oil pressure by cranking on mine. and yes the ign on my lancer is running off a push button too becasue lancer igns are gay
fuel
have you primed the pump at all? filled up the oil filter and then spun it on? When I built up my motor I packed the oil pump with engine assembly grease (or you could use lots of vaseline). I think once the engine fires up it'll develop lots of oil pressure, but just let the engine crank over for a moment or two without ignition/fuel to get oil flowing around first. OSM Garage
Ive been told to try and pump oil backwards through the oil feed for the turbo, at the back of the head. And to try and fill up the oil cooler. Whats the theory behind the vaseline trick?
fuel
well it's just a thicker petroleum based oil/grease, it helps to prime the pump and build up pressure apon the first startup after a rebuild/been sitting for a while.
Ke36
compressed air down dipstick, just use a blower gun or something not heaps you dont want to mess with any seals mine had no oil pressure from sitting for ages too and this fixed it fine

Hemi
damn i was gonna say same thing . id go for a small squirt for a longer period of time to giv ethe oil a chance to get through everything . good way to do it if you dont a pressure primper but also a good way to blow every seal in the engine if you put too much pressure in
