pies
How can i tell if a w series gearbox bell housing will fit an m series engine?
thegreatestben
G bellhousing off a 1981 GX61 Chaser 1GEU motor. S bellhousing - SX6x Mark II, Cressida etc. Also C bellhousing the same - CA60 Carina wagon, CM30? Liteace with G52 gearbox (same bolt pattern as W series gearbox). Y bellhousing - YX70 Mark II wagon, YM30 Liteace with G52 gearbox (same bolt pattern as W series gearbox). Can be used on a S motor to put starter on other side of block if the top right hole is slotted See the hole in the top right is slightly lower than the S/C bellhousing. R bellhousing - RX30? Cressida M bellhousing - MA60, MA70 Supras
kyteler
...can't find out what motor they come off, he got them with his spare 5M when he bought that from the crazy convert it to rangi carb stockcar guy up in central otago. Like I said in the other thread though, says "Toyota Crown 2.6litre 4speed" on them.. so, that would be what? 4M? likely to W40? Are 4 - 5spd W bellhousings the same? tgb? oh fountain of gearboxicle knowledge.

thegreatestben
also compare the bolt pattern in those pics of the gearbox to the bellhousings you've got to see if it suits a auto or manual box
kyteler
These seem entirely different than the MA60/70 one, using that picture as reference. Probablee not goot for za fiving speedz maybes?
thegreatestben
Arg w50 is different to w55/etc, can't remember off the top of my head what the bolt pattern is like.. Edit: That looks the same as the one you posted KY Also searching for W40's on TM found this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 69.htm?p=3 looks like its alloy case 4 speed. probably a T40? kyteler
Ner, that one I posted is mot definately M-series based on the MA60/70 pictures the confusing part is what gearbox actually bolts onto it. Doesn't appear to be W55 anyway, so no good for pies. Sorry sweety.

kyteler
Whut? It's for M-engine Dirty R, ewww. Just need to find out what box sits on the back of it T40/50 W40/50. That's assuming the W55/57 have a different bolt pattern to to the 40/
thegreatestben
If your certain it fits M series its a M to W50. Has the same bolt spacing for the box as that one in the pic, its just cos its got that yuck Holden bell over it.
