peteretep
hey guys, reckon you could put up some pics of where the A pillar connects with the dash on some mk1 escort, preferably both sides of the same car. Maybe some other reference points too if poss My car has +2 degrees camber on one side and -2 on the other at the front. Also, my left tyre is closer to the gaurd than the right side. All my doors, boot, bonnet etc closed better than most new cars and during the time that they have been stripping my car, no one has found anything obvious to suggest major damage in the past What would you guys suggest? Ive heard that other escorts have similar issues. I was hoping that come adjustable top plates would help most of the problem So heres mine

peteretep
i realise that but 4 degrees difference in camber is something and gives rather average handling
thminiman
so your looking for a solution? i just thaught you where wondering why, its cos 40 years ago, their robots where shithouse compared to the shit we have now when was the last time it got a decent wheel alignment? after the new brakes/wheels? is that when they told you about the camber? Unclejake
My car has +2 degrees camber on one side and -2 on the other at the front. Also, my left tyre is closer to the gaurd than the right side. I would be having a good look at the engine crossmember to ensure that it is bolted in centrally to the chassis. Previous damage to to front chassis rail is the other more likely candidate. I don't agree that this is a manufacturing error. Please also take some measurements to ensure that the distance between the front and rear wheels is the same(ish) on both sides of the car. peteretep
I'll have a look at the xmember, all my front suspension has been rebuilt or replaced so that narrows it down a bit But I'll measure a few bits up when go look at it again.
