danger
Gonna ditch some of my turbo gear and put together a cheap stage 2 bridgeport for my mazda 1000/ maybe my 929. Is it ok to use my low comp S4 rotors in an NA engine? Anything else I've got to do to it other than bolting on an IDA etc?
Raizer
We're running a S5 13BT in a HB Cosmo, just ripped all the turbo gear off, fitted a 12A dizzy and we needed a intake manifold adapter to fit the Nikki manifold to the late engine as the turbo blocks have way bigger ports than the older N/A engine. Also used metal set and frost plugs to block the injector holes in the center plate and had to make up a plate to get rid of the oil metering pump -running premix
danger
And it starts ok with the low comp rotors? Considering whether to keep injection manifold and try run with a link or something to save the fucking around with IDA's etc. But will be ugly
CaMpylobacter
could roll more timing and on pump gas. my experience of them though = dogs. no point going to all the effort instead of sourcing some high comp rotors
Raizer
Yeah man had no probs starting it, the compression isnt much lower than N/A rotors aye. If you do go IDA/carb give these guys a ring: Evolution Automotive (06) 867 7200, ask for John he will be able to sort you out an adapter etc.

CaMpylobacter
nah newly built with new seals etc. possibly could've got more decentness out of it with more tuning but yuh.
Raizer
Oh true, maybe a differance between S4 and S5 or something, but the S5 engine we used has no probs and i know for a fact John at Evolution has run a few S4/5/6 engines with no trouble
Ke36
can run low comp rotors but if have to build it anyway u may aswell use hi comp extra power for as close to zero effort ida way cheaper option than a link can sell low comps and injection stuff aswell to offset costs
sentra
unless your ultra staunch n/a just run low comp rotors and the factory turbo dont even bother pulling it apart it will go forever, and beat 99% of atmo rotarys.
danger
Its apart, was gonna build very angry turbo motor but have decided I'd rather use newer housings so i might as well start out using a S6 block with better housings and stat gears etc. Rotors need new bearings and shit anyway. Guest sexychevette
there= fuckall of fuckall diff between turbs and na rotors. s4T= 8.5, s5T=9, s6=9.xx, s4na=9.4, s5na=9.7, rx8=10. Think oldschool rx4/5 is like 9.2 or someshit also. These all off the top of my brain so dont quote me. fairly acurate tho but im pissed and havnt read all the other posts. I would say the cheapest value for money g unit option would be to buy some used rew(s6 etc) rotors. s5na has the advantage of being a fair bit lighter than the other pre rx8 rotors. I have purchased two new s5 6port rotors. Whachickawahwah gun get me sum racing beat 2mm carbons
