4age vs ca18

reason i ask about 4agte vs ca is that i reallllllllly dont wanna have to piss around with a new wilwood style pedal box and i have seen a 4age fit in a eski wag with standy big ass booster on old skool sumwhere and that had the bluetop 86 manifold id be using a cut n shut red top manifold with a bigger tb on it so should fit easy. i would use a w55 box they are only bout 300 nd can get a nite parts bellhousing for deals. when were you coming on boost with the rona with the old set up????? i was thinking of running basically the same set up except maybe a set of forgies and shot peening the rods and some bigger cams hoping for maybe 210 - 220kw atw on say 22psi and yea 4agte make the good sound:D

Ca20det is kinda for race use only as the rods etc are weak. If ya forge pistons and rods then itll be monster as tho.

But nah, still back the ca18det. They rule in every aspect.. I dislike 4age just because ive just had a mate with over 5 now and he kills them within 6months every time. Admitidly he drives on rev limiter non stop and they are just standadr 4age engines non rebuilt but still. Hater here *raises hand*

seen if a ca18 can take 6 months of that kind of abuse yet?

seems like you hate them as you dont know them and one dude blows them up? I mean stock motors they probably have 200kms plus (not that that should worry them) many people have stock 4ages in race cars that see limiter action all the time (theres no power up by the limiter in a stock one anyway). Guys have had stock high km blue tops up to 180kw and drifted the thing for months so dont see how he destroys them does he put oil in them

Dunno first hand what the ca handles like to abuse. Have read on net they take alot of abuse but never actually done it myself.

As for not knowing 4ages. Im not just talking from this duedes view. I have also owned two. One with filter and exhaust in a FXGT the other in an escort running twin 40's, huge cams, portwork extractors, exhaust all that shit. To be honest I wasnt impressed with either. The standardish one had fuck all power untill around 3000-3500RPM which I dont like. Feels like your waiting for something to happen. Perhaps just personal preferance.

Have never had first hand experiance with turbo ones however.. always wanted to.

prolonged abuse on thrashed engines ie m8 had one thrashed from bout 80.00km to 160,000km and it dropped a ring eventually but we used to start it drive out the drive and then nail it to rev limiter in 1st that combined with massive load ie 8000rpm in 4th at 200kph we finally killed it but they are pretty bullet proof with decent new bearings and arp rod bolts
