Gaz
I agree with you. In mint condition the standard escort brakes are really really good compared to all other oldschoolers ive driven. Chuck in some mintex pads and they are better again.
Unclejake
Says a lot for these princess calipers... Pistons do seize easy, and you often end up only using one without realising. I used to take the pads out monthly and work the pistons with a tyre lever for a bit to be sure. M16 calipers, with good pads and a decent, unglazed disk work as well as anything with 205/60x13 or smaller. Vented disks help. The worst brake fade I ever experienced was in the Swiss Alps in my delta integrale. I had to stop for 10 minutes - although I was being extremely silly at the time. That never happened when rallying (cheap!) escorts 25 years ago. Great advice. Solid rotors are so much lighter than vented too. I use solids on the race car and don't usually have issues unless the pads are about two thirds worn - and then they can't get rid of the heat. I don't use a booster either - and if I did it would only be for the fronts
nismo.capri
I used BMW E30 vented disks for the setup on my capri. I haven't run them yet.
Unclejake
^^^ It is good to see someone else builds high performance braking systems whilst getting pissed.

W8NSEE
I have had the car running with the standard disc and princess calliper, and i wasnt impressed, but you guys all seem to be using the booster so im not sure how that changes things. The callipers have been rebuilt too so there is no issues there Im currently changing the pads at the moment, and may have found a suitable disc now, ill find out next week when the parts arrive. Gaz
What disk did you find? The booster wont make any extra braking, will just change how hard you have to push pedal to get the brakes working.

Check the disk for glazing as well. I don't use a booster - prefer the feel without one. Mind you, my struts are currently in the same position as nismo's - nowhere near on and plumbed. nismo.capri
bmw discs and spaced princess calipers is what i used, awsum stopping power. I'm running the princess calipers on my esky with brembo solid disks and green stuff pads, they stop great. Ran the same setup on the capri when it was supercharged too. I ran the esky for weeks with out the booster connected and the pedal is a lot harder but if I really stood on it they worked well. May be you should go for a bigger master cylinder? nismo.capri
What disk did you find? Another disk I've been told works easy is the Tercel. It's bigger and fits the princess pads better. The booster wont make any extra braking, will just change how hard you have to push pedal to get the brakes working. For sure. After running the esky with no booster it feels like brakes aren't working, people who drove it would ask "what's wrong with the brakes"? That's why with the increased piston volume of the 4 pots I think W8NSEE would get a better feel from a larger master cylinder that will move more volume.
