Gaz
Anyone used a single 40 or 45 sidey on a kent 1600 before? Will be with FR cam, gt head, extractos, flightened flywheel and a five speed. Is a 40 large enough or they want more flow from a 45?

Raizer
put twin 40s onQuoted for truth.A 40 or 45 would run it but both are a waste of time compared to a well tuned pair of 40's.
L0WMK2
go twin 40 then be around 120bhp
Gaz
Car is Chris's daily and dont want to use too much gas. Plus initial cost is alot more. I also have the single sidedrafty manifold already. If someone has some for sale cheap with manifold however.
davidian
twins or death (32/36)
RT
a single side draft is all good, manifold flows better than downdraft and twins can be a pain in teh ass.
Gaz
It's gotta be better than a 32/36 anyway. Other option is Capri 40/40 carb. Question was really about 40's and 45's tho guys. Has anyone run a 40 sidy then a 45 because they wanted to upgrade. If so what were the outcomes? Noticable? Worth the upgrade or not? My name is Russell
Will sideys mean that the break booster will have to be modified so they fit?
Gaz
Will sideys mean that the break booster will have to be modified so they fit? Nah easy fix. Just jump on it to bend it and drill new holes lower down. No biggie at all. A few more expenses with sides however. 1. Initial cost of two carbs rather than one 2. Have to buy manifold also as dont have one 3. Linkages 4. Two times filters rather than one. 5. Twice the labour costs in pulling apart and rejetting to tune. 6. Twin carbs fall out of tune every year or so. 7. More gas Mean sound tho & more power.
Guest WESTCORT
bigger must be better if your gettin em tuned so why not go for a 45? how much more expensive is a single 45 than a 40?
Gaz
Dunno. Id say its the availability of them thatd make the price higher.
thminiman
lol, i paid less for a single 45 as i would f have for a 40 but, i do confirm it is definitly a thing to do with availability,
