peteretep
you can get new studs, it was a cunt to get new ones for my escort though, they have to be a certain length by law, its just that normally people have nuts that cover the ends of the studs

escort mk1
Yea you go into repco and just ask for the bushes. They have them listed on there computer. Its quite pricey but worth it i guess. they had some stock but had to order some in. Also i had to take the bush that gos joins the strut arm to the crossmember in so he could measure it up. Mk1Mad
Hey man. Looking good. Just wondering what type of underseal did you use and where did you get it? An is it solid or really rubbery?
L0WMK2
http://www.restospares.co.nz for window rubbers
escort mk1
cheers, yea i used KH auto technology's underbody/sound deadener. I expected it to be rock hard but it is more rubbery. Its sticks to anything though, I dont think it will come of in a hurry. it is chip proof and deadens sound so hopefully it should make it a bit quieter inside. I got it from RJ Pattersons in chch. and i bought a gun with a really big nosel, you can paint it on with a brush, but you get a much better finish with the gun. i think it was about $15 for a litre. escort mk1
Cheers guys. yea i tried to stay away from metellics and pearls for this project but im stoked with this colour. Just a matter of putting it back together now!
peteretep
haha damn, my colour is gonna be 99% the same, mine probably a bit darker though, same non metallic/pearl crap. What are the chances of 2 escorts being painted the same colour around the same time. Looks super awesome though. putting mine back together will be the hard part so good luck
orally
depends how it's done.metallics is not always pearls/crap.

escort mk1
I did all the prep work myself. and a mate at avon city did a w/e job for me. the biggest expense was the paint. i just have to take it back to get buffed when its all put together. escort mk1
cheers, yea my dad and i have put in alot of hours to get this perfect. started preping for paint last xmas! yea the underseal comes out real good we bought a special gun for it. in i rust sealed it underneath. hopefully it will make it a bit quiter. does anyone know if 3:9 diff is the most common or is 4:1. and also theres this hole drilled in the top about 12 mm in diameter. whats this for?
Toucan
Yea the 3.89 diff you have is definately the most common one the escorts came with. 4.1s were in lots of the panel vans and things, and the 3.54 is harder still to come by, not sure where they were found. I assume the 12mm hole is for filling the diff oil? Mine had a bung thing in it, never took it out though so not 100%. About 11oclock when looking at the diff from behind
Alistair
Just a quick q, could you give me a rough idea on cost for the new head lining? Should get mine redone before i put the new window rubbers in/screens in. Cheers dude.
