peteretep
getting them reset is wasy better, then you can choose everything and not worry about the safety
WildPlumDx
yeah poeple say it is but i cant see how >? maybe the process of flipping them in the vice can be dodge i mean ur relaying on that little bolt to hold everything together so it dont bust open and kill u but once shes all bolted down i dont see any danger ? please correct me if i'm wrong! mk2_escort
i asked a guy at a engineers place here on costs of resetting leaves. hes said about $150 to reset them however much you want and about $100 to add a leaf... this sound about right? Guest WESTCORT
paid 217 at snells for a 3inch reset and an extra leaf
CaMpylobacter
yup flipping the is stupid. so much extra load on u-bolts, and no spring tension as they're just really a bendy piece of steel after that with leaves fighting against leaves etc. no protection against axle tramp like that either spend the coin and do it properly, otherwise you're just asking for trouble
WildPlumDx
axel tramp ? yeah i should do it properly !
crazy_rich
do it properly, for your safety and ours. with flipped leaves, the force of one leaf is cancelled out by the other and the bolt has to withstand the difference, one decent hit and the rear end of your car could just come undone. Gaz
Also bending the leaf the other way will cause fatigue way quicker which will lead to mechanical failure of the leaf.

mk2_escort
how much do you guys lower your escorts by and do u have pics? pm me if anyone has any info and recommendations on this. im putting 17's on with pumped guards and want it as low as i can... but dont want it rubbing with 5 people in it etc. does adding a leaf actually stiffen it any more then normal or does it just make up for the lost tention by the leaves when they get reset? chur
peteretep
I lowered my car by 2 inches all round and 33% harder, I have 13 inch wheels with 205/60 tyres, my front gaurds are rolled and my rears cut, my wheels hit my gaurds when i turn some corners too quick and sometimes when i have too much in the back. Flared gaurds all round would be better but its ok as it is, as when the tyres rub they dont damage it so its ok
CaMpylobacter
yuh, 205s on a mk1 are generally regarded as far too big.... 195s being max
peteretep
it looks awesome though so I can deal with the rubbing
CaMpylobacter
yuh uyh, just so long as it's not cutting tyres up hard, which it wouldnt be, given the guard mods already
WildPlumDx
wheres a place that resets leafs close to kapiti coast />? kinda in thew middle of palmy and wellies
Gaz
yuh, 205s on a mk1 are generally regarded as far too big.... 195s being max 195/50/15 are evn to big on an escort. Front gurads are just too small and rear guards have a shit top which causes mass rubbing insider guard.
