im wanting to put 17's on my esky but i dont want flared guards so can i just get the offset changed so that they can fit without rubbing? or would it be better to get the guards rolled? how much (about) would changing the offset be and where would i go to get it done? and how much (about) to get the guards rolled and where would i go? can just a panel beater do it?

Aren't Mk2s the worst car ever designed for rubbing, well escorts in general? All owners of them moan they can't fit wide rubber or big wheels....teh gay

Get 13s with like 205s, if you can, and get it really low, looks way better than massive rims and massive high

i find 235's not rubbing hard to believe, not that im saying i dont believe you but are you sure they were 235? or was it high enough for the wheels to neva go under the guard?

they were definately 235s.. and stock height if not a little lower... of turbo mags of all things.. there was slight rub on full lock or over big bumps.. i couldnt understand it.. with my chassic bending skills my 185s give me troubles

its all bout getting the right offset...

go as close as u can to a fwd offset and sit the wheels inwards and then u might clear but there is a limit when u start hitting the strut :?

and the other option is to increase the neg camber... :P

well the arms were quite off.. if you look at the main pic i have of my car the front wheels are sitting way too far back.. huge gap up front.. thats fixed now, and rubbing is very rare.. like full lock over a bump sometimes rubs..

The little "U" brackets that hold the swaybar mounts are really prone to bending rearwards if you go hard like in a rally car. This moves the wheel back in the arch a surprising amount. The solution is simple, you just unbolt them and rotate 180 degrees. It was because of this tendency to bend that the proper rally cars all ran the Twincam/BDA mounts which were harder and double width. The Twincam swaybar was also heavier and gave more castor. We used to do a budget conversion for some guys by doubling the standard rubbers and moving them forward by 15-18mm. Not as good as the Twincam but a hell of a lot better than standard. It also has the extra advantage of doing away with the tyre rubbing at the back of the wheelarch on full lock.
