RT
yep. The big let down on the pinto is the head.. I still wonder why they made such a restrictinve head on an engine that could produce such good power.. (I've actually got a theory on that) but anyway, huge impovements can be made if you know what you're doing. check this out, when I first stuck a t25 on a standard pinto it ran at 12psi. Then when the head was midly ported in the right places it dropped down to 8psi due to less restritction in the head. Good thing about turbos is you can just crank up the boost a little to compensate for any restrictive disadvantages. 200hp is still a pretty big ask for any n/a 2L really. atropine
yeah 30k (well 26k with the rates ) is way too high but its what they answered in.. not too mention thats probably every thing brand new at top market prices.. with very expensive labour added on top.. and cant be sure.. but they might not be meanin at the wheels.. dunno.. RT
yeah i don't think a n/a pinto can make 200hp at the wheels... but yeah a dude i know has a n/a 200hp pinto. He's not really a mate, I met him at the scope classic race.
atropine
in the classicford theres that 2.1 pinto mk2 with 219hp..
davidian
i was having a quick read at the classic for today they were saying that upper pinto limit is 180bhp on standard crank etc, to get 200 or higher you apparently have to go steel crank and seriously revise pistons/rods/cam/valves etc
SYKOV6
i think RT and ivan are prob right 200hp from a n/a pinto would b pretty hard thats 100hp per litre thats gettin up in f1 territory if it could be done it would be almost undriveable on the street . would b like driveing a handgrenade with the pin out

Jerm
Its worth the risk! Bruce tol me it took them over a year or soemthing working on the head to break 200hp, but then they got around
Pushrod
Ive heard of people breaking 200 at the flywheel with xflows and toby kent in the uk has got over 200 at the fly with a prexflow with an all steel bottom end and some very serious headwork so that with pinto is a definate possibility
Gaz
haha, thsese posts always end up the same when it comes to the pinto. cant do it, can do, i heard, he told me... hahaha. cracks me up good and proper.
SYKOV6
yeah me too ive always believed if ya wanna make power ya need to have forced induction or cubic inches i like the last one better and even more when its in a light car. i cant really see the point in trying to screw every last HP out of somthing thats just going to become unreliable and downright cranky to live with. i go back to my statment " like driving a handgrenade with the pin out" cause thats what its like one day its fine the next its a pile of broken bits in ya driveway and the hottest bitch ever is waiting down the road to b picked up thats just gotta slut ya big time. BUT each to their own.
Pushrod
Yea it is all down to personel preferance again like most things Id far rather try and get the most out of a small engine thats why I like pre xflows so much and willl stick with them
