Jerm
Had my car lowered and the front shocks made real stiff... rides ok but have noticed a bit more understeer.. i have 2 inch blocks at the back and shit as standard shocks.. just bought me some adjustable konis $400!!! thats a bit harsh aye even with a bit of discount... not sure how hard to set them though.. has anyone had much expeirience with setting up suspension?.... my mechanic said to set them as firm as they go but i'm not sure about that? i don't mind it a bit hard and i want to get rid of as much understeer and tramp as i can.... any suggestions? Will_8v
I had a chat to the suspension dudes about adjustable konis, on the highest settign they may as well be metal poles!
lowlancer
Wouldn't that be fucking terrible for an old car?
Pushrod
Set them as firm as they can go jerm and then adjust them down bit by bit to a point where you feel you want them is the best way to do it that way you can adjust them around that street setting you like for drags or track or whatever you might be doing
Jerm
yeah its a mission considering you have to take them off to adjust them...
Snoozin
Ideally in a RWD you want the rear set up a tad softer than the front, to combat oversteer. However other factors like front wheel camber and castor can influence handling in a big way, so maybe adjustable camber/castor kits could be an option? I'm sure there's a range available for Escorts from the likes of K-Mac or Whiteline (Aussie brands) I have adjustable shocks all round, the rear end is stiff as buggery (FWD) and the front a little softer to stop crashing over bumps. Also have adjustable bottom arms for camber etc so with a bit of fine tuning by someone who knows whats up, it's reasonable inexpensive to set up suspension. Jerm
yeha i instaleld the konis yesterday... at about 3/4 stiffness and it rides fuckign well.. i was suprised at how much better it was... no understeer at all even less body roll and a tad of oversteer at times.... perfect

davidian
damn those prices are madness! i paid round $150, from damaged memory, for a pair of pedders fronts, but that was at cost... at the rear i bought a pair of sports Gabriels and they were around the $110 mark, but then again that was cost too just goes to show how big the good old retail markup is, especially them Fag n Turbo b*stards
