My 1975 Mk1 Ford Escort still has the original 1300 high compression lump under the bonnet. Very quick acceleration, NO top speed (about 130 km/h!). My engine mods as of now are quite minimal, but more money means more mods!

I've got 4-2-1 Coby extractors

Full Pit Stop exhaust system with an RPS droopy stainless muffler out back

Ramflo airfilter

New Repco silicon leads & Champion spark plugs

New thermostat & thermostat housing

Soon to come tho - a brand spanking new 1300GT Weber carb & 1600 manifold...and when the gearbox/engine finally dies, a 1600 on sidedraughts & a 5 speed!4 gears is very restrcting!

i have a standard 1300... its ok .... but pretty slow... was yours the same before you modded it?. ... did you find the exhaust made a big difference?.. what size is it? .. i have some 4-1 extractors to go on mine..... i have heard they improve the high rpm power .. as opposed to the 4-2-1 that give more torque... is this right?

The exhaust is 2 inches straight thru...as for a difference - a MAJOR difference in noise & i guess a few extra hp have been extracted
