  1. G'day All, Figured I may as well make a little project log thingy for my newest project, a '62 Morris Mini Minor. I picked this thing up not too long ago and have been getting stuck in with ambitions to have it done early next year. I've been on the hunt for a MK1 for ages now so I'm super stoked to get into it. The car had been stripped down and semi-restored some 20 years ago by the previous owner, but never quite finished. This has led to the paint deteriorating, and heaps of parts disappearing over time. This prompted me to buy a '62 parts car from some guys lawn for its engine/interior bits/suspension parts. I've got almost all of the parts for it now! Its just a matter of painting it and getting it back together and on the road again As far as plans go I'm still not totally sure what color id like it to be. Wheels can be changed to suit, but I guess paint's a different story. Was thinking something along the lines of a light metallic blue with an old English white roof, wide steels/mags and a mesh sun visor for that retro mod kinda look. Something that could be taken back to original spec if need be. Was even thinking of doing it black or just standard white, but I'm not too sure. Cheers guys, looking forward to getting more involved on the forum. -Jack. -The 850cc engine in the front end of the less than fortunate parts car. 25 years of sitting on a lawn didn't stop it from running - it fired right up the day after it fell out of the van and onto the driveway. Wasn't seized, and has only done 40,000 miles. Just hoping that the 850 will be enough for me to keep up with traffic!

  4. I've been lurking around here for a while now, so I thought I better start a thread on my Mini. I've got a heap of photos but they won't load properly. I've uploaded them to iforce.co.nz and followed the instructions in //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34643-how-to-add-pictures-to-the-forum/ If I put my image link in between the img tags they keep changing when I click preview and I get this message: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community Help? Someone? Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/53286-dodgypetes-1980-mini-1275gt-discussion/
  5. Hey guys. Im new to the forum. Ive just picked up my first project, a 1973 morris 1300. Its pretty much complete and original. its gona take me a while on a student budget but ill get there haha. any help or info on morris 1300's would be much appreciated Its got a little bit of rust in the floor pans and the boot, and surface rust all over the body but apart from that it seems pretty solid. who knows what ill find when i look harder tho haha.
  6. So thought I would do a write up on a project I did for my brother over summer/for his 21st birthday present. So he has a mini that he absolutely loves and he saw some roof racks online and wanted to do something along these lines... Did some research and couldn't buy anything suitable talked to me and did some CAD modelling to do something way cooler than that. Wanted to add some curves to it as the mini isn't a very square car so squares would look weird on it. Curving the roof rack in both directions looked good and wanted to create a 'floating deck' with no stays in the corners so it looked lush/kinda like it wasn't attached. Wanted to do it all out of stainless so it is shiney AF. Used 3/4" dairy tube as its easy to work with and aesthetically was the right proportions for the mini. Send cad files to autobend and they rolled and bent the tubes to suit. had to cut + weld to length (ignore my rubbish welding pls) Got it all welded up and test fitted good My brother did some woodwork with Kiwa?Kila? wood and came up real nice! Pic showing clamp/mounting arrangement Turned out pretty good and looks sweet. Best thing is its super practical also. Just did a west coast trip in it with his girlfriend and they could stow their luggage on it. Here's a few sweet parting shots of sweet south island west coast.
  7. Day 1! 21st November 2014 Picked up this little beautie for $3200 NZD. The local mini club owner who was selling it gave me a $400 discount purely for my squeeling on arrival, I'd never seen so many mini's in my life! First thing i brought - new gear knob! Cheers Aliexpress! Got central locking for a Christmas gift with the key remotes installed! Accidentally locked the keys and remote in the car.... Took 5 people to break into my tiny car! Central locking sadly didn't get re connected after painting of the car... but hasn't been anymore lock outs since! She turned out to be suuuuuper rusty! Time for some repairs.. and a broken windscreen. "No don't take it out yourself you'll break it!" "No I promise I won't!" ...20 minutes later see my ex boyfriend post on the NZ mini facebook group that he's looking for a replacement windscreen. Damn it. Thank god for insurance! Hello kitty hanging in there during my repairs. 1 floor pan and new windscreen later... it was time to get ready for a new colour! Colour! I literally took in my nail polish and a picture to the paint shop for inspiration and walked away with this! We have some paaaaint! Need to get some better pictures in the light.. or not use my phone camera! She's feeling a little blue Picked her up some new bits in exchange for a box of bourbons hahaha. Goodbye ugly rice steering wheel that someone has friggin welded in place! More new editions? HAHA Interior battles Thought i'd get all fancy and refurbish my door cards with some vinyl and fabric. The door cards that came with my mini were horrible to say the least!! Refurbishing them didn't turn out much better. Manged to make some back ones but have given up on front and dash and thinking of getting some laser cut and then powder coated the same color as little blue! Sitting a bit crooked but will sort it out! I've fallen in love with another mini... I hope this guy doesn't mind me sharing his pics but I found this little beauty on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/jacktubbsey/ Really want black flares now!! What I really love is the headlights! Found some tint off ebay here super cheap and now just waiting for it to arrive! Totally illegal here in New Zealand but i'm sure i'll be okay with all the cars with blacked out ones I see driving around Some treats for little blue! The sound system in her wasn't that bad when I got her but the speakers were literally put into plastic containers from the warehouse ($6.99 price tag still attached omfg) that you take your lunch in HAHA. Then covered in vinyl!! Kiwi ingenuity. Thinking of doing some colour changing led rings around the speakers like this: Will update once I've finished it! Also wanting to replace the switches inside with illuminated push button type switches. Here's some examples: First pic is a pre made one that is sold by Marcos Controls if anyones after some! Second some switches on Aliexpress I like. Just put in my new brake hose, got my new headunit & sub going. 2016: Finally got a WOF and current rego! But also feeling lazy, need to CAD up my dash and door cards to get laser cut already! Discussion Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51794-samanthamannells-1978-mini/
  8. Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51793-samanthamannells-1978-mini/ Colour looks good, can't help but think maybe the roof being white too would go with the white flares would look pretty chur also?
  9. Ok. So Trademe got the better of me and I picked up a bargin off it. Ill just put up pictures for now. Hopefully head up and pick it up in the next couple of weeks. It hasn't got too much rust and was running. Rego is on hold. Mags and tyres are included. Plans are. 1) Get it, 2) Get it on the road. We will see what happens after that... 10. Just got a mini off a mate for free, engine/front subframe is out of it. most parts there etc, bugger all rust, pretty original except the tiny tridents, will post some pics up on a better day. He's done a crap bog-job on it, so ill sand it right back and start again from scratch with some hammers this time, although there isnt a hell of alot of dents, pretty straight really Don't know much info on these lil things but i got it for free so can't complain, just need a brake master cylinder (i think thats all) Discussion Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/19931-ke20-lorollas-mini/page-1?hl=clubman
  11. Well, seeing as it could be back on the road soon I felt I should put this up. Background: I got it off some asian dude, and prick had reversed into the door/smashed with a sledgehammer or something. So i picked it up for cheapish (for a GT anyway) but it need work. Put mates white door on it, still need to get a new one. This pic was a couple days after i picked it up: Tuff eh? A little different now though. Fisrt time on the motor way the speedo went to 200 and kept going around. Hit the rest at 0 mark and then the needle fell off... Mate took it for a thrash and rooted the exhaust, the flange on the std manifold broke so i got some cheap LCB extractors for it. The current reason its off the road: Took ages to find a head as mine was fucked, but I got got one from Strong For Hondas in the Hutt, with a 3 month warenty. Head was ment to be done on Thurs so I'll pick it up on Monday and do it that night I hope. Only Hopefully if i get this mad job i might have some more money to spend on it. I wrote that in parts so no doubt it's incoherent. Future for this puppy? Rust Paint (Copper Fire agian. Nothing beats brown) 12*6" Superlites (if i can get some from England. Dish and 165 stretch) Lowered/maybe Hi-lo adjusties in chrome. Adjustable bottom arms etc. Speedo Maybe 1330 or something In no particular order is the above.
