  1. I just got a quote today for my set to go to CHCH and was told $90 that was with Stream line depot to depot
  2. So I got the new 3.9 diff head in over the weekend. Steelie gears done a great job. Should make a difference on the track in the weekend . It feels like it's pulling harder over 100km which was what I wanted and no noise which was another reason for putting a new diff in. lost my head lights last week took quite a lot of mucking around to find the problem got there in the end.Time to take all the excess weight out again track day this Saturday. I want to try and keep up with M_C's V6 lol

  4. The next track day is booked in for the 1st of Dec. So the 3.9 is being rebuilt at the moment by Steelie Gears. New bearings all round But the price of the Pinion gasket stopped me in my tracks $75 plus gst bugger go some help from a mate on this one. All the cost for the rebuild there wont be any change out of $500 it will be worth it and last for ages the last one lasted 35 years. Have to get started on the bottom end rebuild want some thing very strong with loads of get up and go any ideas welcome??? I have a untouched block to work with.Cant make my mind up on this just want something fast lol. Put my wheels up for sale on trade me as I have my eye on some brand new mag wheels that look good on the car
  5. Twice the weight but your car is a race car I thought your car would be lighter over all due to the lack of extras. Or they would be near to the same weight???

  9. So here is some video on how the little 1.6 xflow goes thanks to Elliot and his Go Pro . I had never been on a track before so was only learning next track day is already booked roll on 1st of December. Only a 3.9 diff head to put in and a bigger sway bar to fit and we will see if I can go a little faster.
  10. So it's been a while busy time's. Was getting ready for track day wiring caught fire for the electric fan so have rewired it put it back in and gave it a trim so it would fit got the breather kind of sorted. Tucked away behind the grill. Picked up a set of EVO 4 seast very nice was only going to use them for a race day seat but they are so nice to sit in so they might end up staying in. Track day yesterday at Hampton Downs what a fun day M_C was there and my little engine fared not bad against a big donk 1:40 for the first lap around which was not bad for a little car gave a few quite a surprise how it went even me as well. By end of day I was getting faster slowly and as for apex well it not where you would think on this corner lol So there is a list of things needed a LSD third gear wheel spins at 90 km was interesting and showed the semi slicks are getting long in the tooth or I just don't weigh enough. And the front sway bar I need to put the 24 mm back in so I could have more corner speed. And the 3.9 diff head I only got into 4th gear on the main straight.It was a great day am already keen to go again. There was only one little problem with the car from the whole day the rear main rear appears to have started leaking. Might be time to get on with building a new bottom end ARP bolts for the head and a better head gasket. over night leaking Buy end of day I was running close 1:35 min mark which is not bad for a 35 year old car and kept up well with the guys a V6 and a 2.0 pinto even passed them a few times lol
  11. They do tend to roar quite load will get around to doing a video and posting it. My manifold is only made from exaust pipe and 10mm plate and check out in the UK they have done it heaps of times so there are a few parts around there.

  13. this was in a fraser set up with a xflow engine so bell housing should be all good.
  14. I got two set from ebay US eay on set cost $225 nz with frieght the other set cost $260 with a fuel pump that died after the first start up. So my advice buy form a big supplier so you can send back if not happy and make sure th neddle jet are adjustable.
  15. Small turbo set up 6-8 psi going to keep the bike carb set up put loads of work into making it run right might sell with a 1600 cross flow I have from my sport . And I love the noise that the carbs make.
  16. So I have a new gear box and a new diff setup that i'm getting ready to put in. The gear box i got lucky on close ratio one and I will take my chances and just put it in. I have a alloy bell housing linned up just have to swap my 3.5 diff head for it thoughts anyone as I real like the 3.5 but its slow off the mark. I have a 4.4 lock diff and that is so quick off the mark but I will get in trouble if I use that all the time. The diff head has a buggered pinion bearing so I will do the lot there is nothing worse than a noisey diff lol Any one got any ideas on turbo size as I have a B4 here that I'm wreaking now I'm going to take the primary turbo off for the sport set up
  17. thanks for all the help guys turns out its a close ratio box have linned up a bell housing but the deal means that I have to give up my 3.5 diff head. I do have a 3.9 lyning around with the close ratio box should be ok any thoughts???
  18. I'm starting to look at doing a turbo as well already have a L18 crank lyning around but just want to get 6 to 8 pound boost my mates thing it will be a faster set up from what I have I do plan on a brand new carb and having a blow though. The tourqe is meant to be mean with the turbo
  19. New 70 amp alternator works a charm hope it lasts longer than the last one dont like having the old fan back in already looking for a better new one
  20. Track day never came about so booked one for the 28th of this month. Burnt out the ele fan so back on with the old one for now till I find one that fits.Put the new alternator on killed 3 so far so got a 70amp one I hope it can keep up. car seems to be starting so much better all ready. So now I have a month to put the 24mm sway bar on sort the brakes out. and I have been lucky enough to find a close ratio MK3 2lt E gear box so I need to get a bell housing and a shortend drive shaft as well. Also picked up a 3.9 diff thinking about going with a turbo instead of bike carbs any one else have ideas ??

  23. Just picked up this gear box but having trouble with the id, numbers are as follows housing 71B6/700G A and 1K13A2 IF4 Tail shaft 71WG7A040BA Anyone have any ideas its about 50mm longer than a normal Mk2 escort box and all the gears look a lot bigger than a sport box ??? will post a pic later
