Hyundai had already ventured into car production by producing locally built versions of the Ford Cortina under licence from 1968. When the company wanted to develop their own car, they hired George Turnbull, the former managing director of Austin Morris at British Leyland in 1974.[2] He in turn hired five other top British car engineers, Kenneth Barnett as body designer, engineers John Simpson and Edward Chapman, John Crosthwaite as chassis engineer and Peter Slater as chief development engineer.[3][4] With Turnbull's experience with the Morris Marina,[5] engines and transmissions from Mitsubishi, some parts from the Ford Cortina they were already producing, and a hatchback body styled by Italdesign Giugiaro, they developed the Hyundai Pony.
NZTA shows this one as still registered and wof-ed.
Correct! Saw it a few weeks back fully restored, favorite car at the amberley show tbh! Sooooo cool.

Dang, just realized we've had the accord for well over a year now. Nothing has gone wrong as expected. Still a great car to drive. But the fuel economy leaves a bit to be desired tbh. It's pretty Thirsty.
So, with this in mind, if you want a reliable, super economical family hauler there's really only one option.

Chipping in here, have started looking for a first car for the boy. He wants something cool, either with VTEC YO! or a turbo? Mum wants something with all the airbags. I'm keen on a project to get him off the playstation. The compromise so far is a 07 Impreza 1500cc autobox, a bit of street cred, 3star safety and probably plenty of things to fix, like head gaskets!
We owned one of those, briefly. Christ they're lethargic. He definitely won't hurt himself in it, that's about all I have to add

Hey bros, potentially looking at a car in Masterton. Problem is we can't get up for a month or 2 to pick it up but don't want to miss out on it.
Is anyone able to pick up and store it for us for a short period of time? Even if someone from wellies or palmy is going through there with a car trailer it'd be awesome. The car itself is legal but the guy said it's not very drivable as it's overheating. So its a trailer or a flat tow jobbie. If we could get it to wellington it'd be 11/10 helpful.
As always, can in beers/cash/Dutch rudders.
THAMLS.
