  1. Unless its a pre 1990 Cosworth, then its the T5. The T5 is a borg warner box eh? Isnt alot stronger than the MT75?

  3. If its in a Pinto powered Sierra its pretty much a given its a T9. Shifter will be held on with 3 torx bolts. Or if its a twin cam or cosworth then its the stronger MT75 gearbox! Its got the same bellhousing pattern so no need to worry aswell Pure
  4. Hey weds Just saw this thread. For the front either princess, volvos or if you want it on the cheap get better pads for the m16s with capri 2.8i vented disks. There is always m16 wilwoods.... For the rear personally id go disks using sierra disks and calipers as its got and internal drum handbrake. Good luck with the build mate, post up a build thread! Cheers Pure
  5. BIG update! Gah so finally got some school work out of the way to start taking apart the Pinto with dad opened it up to be pleasantly surprised of the work its had done and the condition of it after sitting for 20 odd years. Anyway pictures. Of with ya head Cam is in good nick dosent look to have been reground. Ports will need a good polish. New valves also. Pistons out. They are 0.40 thou overbore with minimal ware if any. Crank has been ground also and balanced. Rods arent factory so could be forged items also had 0.25 bearings on em.   6. So have now planned to restore the Ghia to factory as its cheaper and in theory i should get a good price for it being a ghia. So plans: Build up my pinto and use that while i also give the kent an overhaul. Respray in factory colour That is all for now.
  7. DETs have oil squirters, lower comp, and roller rockers im sure. fwd and 4wd SRs have a totally different bellhousing meaning different block to rwd ones from what ive seen fwd and 4wd SRs cannot be converted either they also have a different head bolt pattern/ manifold bolt pattern.

Plans if i go the SR route -DET block for oil squirters -SR20VE Head -SR20VE pistons -4AGE itb's -SC14 supercharger (posibility) -Can mod original exhaust manifold to fit -SR or RB gearbox -Use factory ecu -Parts easily available in nz Zetec route -Zetec se from focus -itb's -New ecu -Brit made exhaust manifold ($$) -Ford t9 or bolt to my type E -Parts mainly from UK ($$) Pinto/Kent route -Headwork -Rebore -Twin carbs -Lumpy cam -Bolt in -Keeps car period

  12. Zetec is definitely on the cards its just the availability of the parts which for the most part ill have to get from UK. First suggestion was jappa engines as parts are readily available here. Oh and as for pinto decided to flag that as its been done to death and dont really want to waste a cert on it for a moderate power increase and no increase in fuel mileage. But its there if i change my mind.
  13. FUUUUUCK. Okay someone help me out with the direction i should go in with this escort its doing my head in! Option 1) Keep it original (Being a Ghia with all the rarer goodness the escort offered factory) Head says this. Option 2) Take inspiration from the JDM os scene. Go all out ala mesh wheels, jam an SR20VE or 4AGE 20v. Heart says this. Confusing shit i know but would like something thats different but dont want to sacrifice the originality and scarcity of the Ghia.
  14. Whats everyones opinions on fibreglass panels over metal ones mainly bonnets and guards? As finding a good condition escort bonnet is proving hard to find.
  15. Um bonnet is the main concern, front doors need some plug welding and car just needs a general tidy up. The vinyl roof is nowhere to be seen now though!
