  1. Have you seen this month they have free magazines for the first 100 cars and are going to feature the best represented car club at the show? Could be a perfect time to rep OS!
  2. Sam you should host a weekend meet at your house. I'd be keen to come down! Now that there's camping room in the back yard and all.
  3. So I've done a few bits over the last few months, First thing I did was make a nice wooden dash panel to break up the blackness in there... Second thing I did was spend a looooot of time wet sanding the paintwork, I've probably spent about 100 hours all up and I'm stoked as with the finish. And the last few days I got bored, picked up a spare steering wheel from pick a part for $21 which needs recovering, I might do that at another point. So I followed cylinders thread on restoring his wooden steering wheel and got stuck into it. Sanded it all by hand so it took me in the region of 5 hours to do. And after the first coat of varnish this is how it looks... So as it stands the other day, this is how she looks. So now I'm on the lookout for the factory chrome trims that attach to the sides. I have most of a set, am after both front guards and the drivers side door to complete it if anyone has some they've got lying around. Also really need to lower it some, and do something about the slowness, but that will come later. Keen to pick up some spotlights one day, and tossing up with getting an oldschool roof rack to put on it to carry my bikes around from time to time. Will go well with my aviators and polo shirt.
  4. I took the same photo to put on Instagram, haha. So doge. Much drive. So skid.

    PAINT THREAD

I would call up grabone and tell them about your experience and see if others are in the same boat aye. Would have more ammo as a group to do something about it if there are others.
  6. Ermagherd so excite. I will be there. Possibly naked.
  7. Good to hear, was a bit worried you mightn't have made it!
  8. Cloud has just started thinning out. I won't be going but could be dry enough to leave the umbrella in the glove box.
  9. Shit, yeah I just realised the big clash with a pre xmas lunch shindigg I committed to ages ago! Oh well, wont be as cool as burger boes anyway.
  10. Was a lovely meet. Bit on the temperate side! I love how as a group we get taken seriously by the old chaps in their yank tanks. Its refreshing.
  11. Did anybody get pics of the (awesome) brown escort?
  12. Don't bullshit Tara. You know I'd totally rock your bedsheets if I was that way inclined and you weren't married.
  13. Yeah I'm in. Aaron if you don't wanna bring the teg I'll have a seat for ya in the scort.
  14. Mean chaps. We keen for a meet up and convoy in prior? The usual 9am at Partsmaster gonna do the trick again? Also any ideas for a lunch time destination?
  15. Apparently this month's meet is 'bring a can' for the chaps at city mission so remember to dig deep (into the pantry) and grab something to chuck towards the cause. Anybody else going to be heading along? Could do the lunch cruise thing afterwards if anyone is keen and the weather is nice.
  16. Yeah I guess I'll be popping along for a visit. I too would like to see you attempt a 1kg burrito Mike!
  17. So I got to take it out and about a couple of weeks ago, still waiting to be able to afford the seals below the windows on the doors but hopefully that'll happen next week unless something else attacks my pockets before then. I've also been undertaking the mammoth task of wet sanding and polishing the paint. Results so far are bloody awesome though I've only done the boot lid (which still needs a bit more) and the bonnet (which is looking epic). Those two panels alone took me 4 hours. Electronic ignition rocks! Car runs so much smoother and more consistant with no more misfire. Also picked up a ported head for $1 off trademe. Gave the guy $20 cos I felt like a dick and he chucked in some monroe rear shocks which I've now fitted (but are yet to drive on). Gotta be better than the 40 year old oil filled shocks that were on there. The plan with the head is to find another 1300 bottom end to bolt that head onto, and find some variant of a larger than stock cam to put in there with some valve springs and have a go at making the combination work. Also got a 34dgv weber downdraft on it's way that I'm hoping to be able to tune for this setup. I want to swap the whole lot over cos it gives me a chance to paint the engine bay while it's all out. So anybody got a 1300 crossflow bottom end sitting in their garage they wanna sell cheap?!
  18. Was thinking about it but wanna finish the buff on the paint before I turn up and park next to mint hotrods. Will go next month instead.
