  1. GUIBO Pcd ~112-113mm for M12 bolts that go in the holes that are 56mm deep excl the tang bits. ID of the hole in the donut is ~55mm and OD ~145mm
  2. they are called guibos/driveshaft rubbers/donut joints/flexible couplings and are pretty cheap, and i can send you the old one i just took out of the ute if the dimensions look promising for you to try? Ill have a measure up tonight Cheap from here - $US12.50 of your capitalist hard currency plus shipping comrade: https://ladapower.com/catalog/search?keyword=flexible+coupling&limitstart=0&option=com_virtuemart&view=category&virtuemart_category_id=0&Itemid=250
  3. Yus! Another sucker seduced by the tempting allure of rusty italian steeds that 'just need a quick tidy up'
  4. what is this magic you speak of?
  5. This has been super sweet, and is my daily driver (when i actually drive - carpooling mostly!). Got some new rims, ex-Bighorn (i was looking for the mesh ones like the old siver van had but these came up cheap enough), alloy + tyre are lighter than one of the hilux steelies. Also spent about $2k on front control arms, brakes and wheel bearings + a wheel alignment and she drives pretty smooth and straight (and quiet!) now. Also modified a set of tall roofies to be tall enough to reach over my massive forehead. Planning on putting a roof tray (ex factory hiace) , ladder (have ss one), retractable awning (to buy) and roof box (have one from old van) up there eventually. Also installed some fancy leather seats in the back, they are pretty flash and are on rails and can be reversed to face the rear, so its actually useful to carry more than 2 people now. I would like an LSD diff of some sort cause this thing is ridiculously easy to get stuck to the extent that its actually silly. Slightly damp grass, or uneven ground, reversing, it doesnt matter once one rear wheel even thinks about lifting its all over. Do Navaras (i think D22 shares a lot of running gear) have LSD in the rear?
  6. Rust. There is rust under the lichen. All the way down
  7. My croma t engine has a 4 tooth wheel on the crank pulley and k-jet I have a na 1.6 delta manifold i got from pap. I would use edis + mega squirt to run it with a 36-1 trigger wheel
  8. would actually be worth cutting up to throw in the back. Mrs has given 'approval' via eye roll rather than a flat NO and would be willing to come on a collection run/South Island Holiday at some point Whats the gig with this marshlands place - is it being cleared out so need to rush/are the people ok to deal with etc?
  9. I used this to go collect a new Dio scooter a couple of months ago, and the flippin thing was a total pig. Ended up stopping in at Bunnings round the corner from the Dio POs place and buying some tools to take the carb off in the car park, then again at Mt Roskill park just before the Waterview tunnel, ran the guantlet home from there and left it in disgrace for while to reconsider its attitude towards becoming a reliable and useful member of the fleet, and how not working good makes me feel after saving it from ending its life as a Papamoa skid hack. A couple of weekends ago when it was sunny i finally got around to pulling the carb off again, swapped in the other DMS, but it was just as bad, swapped things around eventually tracing the problem to the flippin main idle jet holder - turns out there are THREE (not two!) slightly different lengths of idle jet holders, and the one i was using was just a smidge short from properly seating the jet against the orifice allowing unmetered fuel to dribble out the idle passage. No wonder i couldnt get it to idle or run good! With that sorted, it goes real nice now, nice enough that my long term plan to put the Delta EFI manifold on has been put back to the long term for now, and got it its second WoF. Now that its running good, AND legal again, what better to do than make it immobile! Ive been collecting parts for a suspension refresh not just becasue its high, but also becasue it makes a terrible noise from the gearbox/front left/driveshaft area when turning right that i have not been able to trace or figure out. My suspicion is the centre carrier bearing in the diff, which was a bit perished. While i was in there I replaced the following items whech were probably fine: - Centre carrier bearing - both universal joints - Guibo (love that word!) - cleaned and greased sliding joint and replaced seal. Old Spring thing with chunks missing from rubber bush Receiving lounge for spring + bush which is a bit scored - the rubber + spring (or new rubber only) is mostly just to seal the g-bag end of the sliding joint. - cleaned and painted the lot I also replaced the leaky gearbox output shaft seal. I also wanted to replace the reverse light switch whose connecting tabs had snapped off. with a DIY extended lada job as per below, but i think the welding pucked it as the impedance was very high and the depth of travel was much less than the original (pins are connected when pin is extended) so i assume that if the pin is unable to retract it might prevent gear selection?) so i put a couple of tiny screws in the stubs of the old switch and soldered some spade connectors on. I also replaced the 'centering bearing' and its seal thing , which went from the sprung type in the bottom of the image with a lada setup like the top. The rubber thing on the spring was half missing and the inside of the drive flange is kinda scored so i reckon thats what was making the noise (or was at least, it was the mostl likley of all the things i found to be making a noise!) , but that will have to wait for a test drive to see
  10. i have only found one pic on the internet of any one doing anything other than a period correct restoration or a barn find, it was on bags and indeed swoon city
  11. im all for saving it, but not as a folly/lost puppy, it needs to be able to get back on the road within a reasonable budget. still, even if the budget blows out it will be cheaper than a kombi!
  12. Can o' brake clean over the underside the morning of wof day? Thats what 'a friend' does. Then as long as its not dripping on their heads on the hoist it should be ok
  13. its this fine vehicle BTW - this is the guy who outbid me last time it was up for sale about a year ago, and so its now 400km further north (invergiggle to chch) I have other south island Fiat dorks who will collect and store it https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1660579655
  14. enabling comments from the rest of the loony bin will be disregarded
  15. cool car and story, bro! however, how did you get the 120y into and out of the cortina, and is this a genuine FoMoCo spare part?
  16. Im considering buying a deregistered rare italian vehicle from the 1960s. It has rust, but not so bad in the scheme of things. Im not scared of the rust but i am scared of getting it reregistered/certified. Other than the ownership malarkey (which may also be a bit of a thing - has plates and old stickers but no papers and carjam doesnt know about it), whats the story with the repair certification that it will surely require? Im not interested if i have to pay a guy to do the rust work, but happy to have someone review my work. Who is a good repair certifier to chat with in Auckland, west preferably. Basically this this a good idea or have i gone quite mad?
  17. So coooool. +1 on column change bushes. All the angle changes and levers multiply any slop. I used tap washers in my fiat wagon linkages so theres always a way, but you should have more luck finding nos or repro mazda bits
  18. Oh. That will be it. I knew they were different just not which way round, lewl. Im off up north this weekend instead, so no rush now but can get from chrisr at some point.
  19. So yeah a good 5 pin dc cdi for giorno/early dio? Sold!
  20. Ive aliexpressed some cheapies cause im unsure if the af34 is ac or dc. Giorno and diozx are dc but i blew the good one from the giorno too :/ Only electrics i havnt replaced is voltage reg and loom so webike for vreg and a aliex gy6 loom incoming. So much for an easy fix lol
  21. New dio keeps blowing cdis (faaark!) and im going up to shippies this weekend. Have a massive pest!
  22. Top stuff Wish i had the space and patience to do 10% as good Will be 100% awesome when you're 'done'.
  23. Might have new dio running by then. Keen
  24. Leaky sump will be loose pan bolts. Maybee!
  25. Had a bit of wind on Tuesday night, max gust of 218kph recorded at Manukau Heads (30km to the sw) which is one of the highest wind speeds ever recorded in NZ, and a local home weather station station recorded 188kph and 185kph gusts, with 100kph average for a period of 3 hrs. Scary stuff! Anyway, the 'temporary' shelter station id rigged up couldn't quite jangle that much energy, and collapsed onto the wagon! There is no damage i can see, its all strapped down onto the roofrack. You can see how the arches have snapped/bent on the leeward side, it was literally blown flat. All four of the upright 'feet' have been torn out of the baseplate which is dynaboilted to the driveway. 3 large Karo trees fell onto the garden shed Ute is fine but stuck in this position til i dismantle the carport. No other damage thankfully but cleaning up all the trees and stuff will eat into my car time,..
