  1. I could probably gain 10mm-ish negative because of where the band that the centre sits on is taking it down to +28mm, you're right it would be easier, I'll space the fronts out 10mm and see how fitment is then. Ooooh just felt a tingle in my pants area I'd be keen to sort something out, how would they fit under the wellside? I got mine off a '05 Holden Colorado, only 16" six stud steels I have been able to find as most seem to have alloys or some kind of 4x4 style
  2. Cheers guys I haven't thought about what colour they'll be, I'll have to try some photoshop combinations, any suggestions?
  3. Here it is with the sidecovers how they are currently painted and seat taken off. I'll get the shocks rusted up first then try and match the paint to them. I got the seat foam today, should I bother making a fibreglass pan for it or should I glue it straight to the top of the tank?
  4. I've seen some kind of rust-effect enamel wash at a hobbie store, might investigate further if I can't get the look I want.
  5. Hopefully I can, one of the hard parts is painting the plastic sidecovers to look like they are rusty. I had a go today using orange and dull red paint but I think I need some brown. I'll post up some pics of them tomorrow for judgement, it won't be realistic but from a distance I want it to look similar. I have some seat foam on the way and the picture on the leg shield is a decal I have ordered, the rear shocks are currently rusting away after being dosed with bleach then warm salty water but may still try some peroxide on them as that works well apparently
  6. So after seeing all the cool Honda Cubs on here I decided I wanted one. Picked one up from Palmy a few weeks ago, a '79 90cc 6 volter. Battery and exhaust were ferked and it had a lot of surface rust from living out by the sea at one point but was otherwise sweet. I drained the gas and oil, cleaned the carb and topped up with new fluids, it fired up first kick. I like the look of the rust on the blue paint job so I'll leave it, a new seat, modified rear fender, some paint and rust promotion are all the mods I'm gonna do for now. Here's a photochop of how it will probably look, indicators and tail light/plate mount will go back on but in slightly different locations.
  7. Have been looking for some steel rims to get widened. Found some 16x7's for cheap which should do the trick, plus being 16" I can go for a lower profile tyre without increasing my 100k revs too much (sit at about 3700 due to 4speed/ute ratios). They have a +38mm offset but as they are they only contact the front part of the upper arm 5mm before hitting the lock stops, hopefully I can get an inch or so taken out of the back and have some more added to the front for better fitment and some sweet steel dish. Bought some knobs for the AM radio so that is looking good again Got some sound deadening on the way too, sick of the tin can echo I got going on, just have to prep and paint the floor of the cab which I cbf doing but will have to
  8. Here's some reference photos of mine which might help. I put a steel ruler across two of the bolt lugs on the rocker cover, comes out pretty much level with the lip at the top of the firewall I'm pretty sure mine's still a 1600, nothing seems to have been changed and still got 4 on the tree
  9. You're a mind reader bro. Have been on the hunt for some suitable steels to widen and was looking for a place in Welly to do them, had them on my list of places to call.
  10. Check out this conversion, pretty tight fit
  11. Yeah I had a look in Wellington library but couldn't find one so I bought a chilton manual, let me know if you need any info from it and I'll scan the pages for you. I've got an owners manual too with some extra info and a wiring diagram in it, just have to find it as it seems to have gone walkabout
  12. No worries mate, I'm in the same boat as you. I think there was a change in '81, along with the addition of discs the control arms are a slightly different shape and there were some interior changes too. I think B2000's had front discs all along.
  13. The setup I have for it came off an '84 B1600, I needed to get the sticky-outtie booster to clear the column shift mechanism.
  14. Took the ute for its first wof since I have owned it, was expecting a fail but went through sweet. Next step is a little bit of rust work and swapping drums for discs on the front. Required pics Discs, calipers, M/C and booster U bolts/pedestrian graters trimmed Gave it a couple bj's Also need shorter bumpstops in front as can be seen above, might look for some at pickapart next time I'm there
  15. Yeah pulled everything out, did the door cards, arm rests and A-pillar trim too
  16. I used the spray on the dash of an old holden I used to have, worked good, the fumes are pretty strong though so make sure you have good ventilation
  17. Good site to check out stretch http://www.tyrestretch.com/
  18. I was checking mine out yesterday and found a lot of play where the linkages join together so I put an extra washer on the joints and that made shifting more positive for me, our setups are probably very different though.
  19. Yeah that was the one, sold for 4k buy now Fuck I want a something old and hardtail now
  20. So sweet I was looking at buying a '48 Ariel recently, should've pulled the trigger on it. Chuck a spinger front end on that bad boy
  21. Looks sweet, got me looking at golfs now
  22. Hehe, this one has let the smoke in. It was owned by a chain smoking granny and it stinks and is a bit yellow in places but otherwise mint, I have to take it apart and give it a wipe down but till then it lives in the garage
  23. Keen for this Will stop showering now in preparation for it
