Undo the bolts behind it if there is any. Turn the drum around the wrong way and bolt it back on really loose. Then pull the drum outwards towards the wheel nuts (hard). So youre using it as a type of puller.

Replace points and condenser, also make sure your condenser/wire isn't earthing out.
"Power is also getting to the earth wire that runs to the dizzy" -earths shouldn't have power.
Just push the sleeve 10mm from the top and weld it, itll give you plenty boss. Mine was that height and has max slam. And your inserts are shorter
EDIT: Do 30mm just to be safe my lock collars are close to the botton of the sleeve.
Didn't read the last few pages but I used s1 r7 inserts shortened 15mm in my 1200 sedan coilovers (same sleeve kit as you). Could put the sump bolt 30-40mm off the ground at minimum I think. If i shortened the leg more the sky/ground would be the limit.
