  1. I'd be very surprised (like all etc) if you're able to tee up a levels day. They have unbelievably restricted use due to their dumbass neighbors/hardly ever do private hire days. That said I will pay up doubly quick if you secure a date there as levels is an epic track of super twisty awesomeness Alternatively, check out if the South Canterbury Car Club still do their open street car challenge day in December as that is super cheap and all organised for ya.
  2. I didn't even get my camera out of the car and I always take photos!
  3. I'm gonna try make this one since its nice and close. Will be in the dirty AW since the clutch in the mighty Corolla just let go
  4. criminals are morons this one appears to be the dumbest moron on the planet!
  5. damn those roads looked nice with hardly any traffic too. mite see ya'll next time
  6. bit late/early I know, but I thought I might come along and say g'day this morning, can't make the drive as too many other things on the plate today
  7. Is wayne martin still on/just off moorhouse?
  8. Dude, there is/was an establishment down by AMI stadium who steam cleans the underside/enclosed bits of trucks and stuff. We went there before we pulled my car to bits because the engine had shat itself and EVERYTHING was coated in oil/internal bits and they charged me $20 cash for the top of the engine bay and $20 for the bottom. This was a super pumped up industrial steam cleaner/water blaster combo. Best thing we could have done as engine/bay was all sparkly like afterwards. They had a big ramp that you drove up on and they stood in the pit between to do it. Could not recommend more, especially for the price. If they still exist
  9. That shit has been there forever and a day. I remember thinking how awesome/out of place it was like 10 years ago. Digger went om nom nom nom nom boaty boat boat ?
  10. Sounds like a good un. I may be keen now car is "reliable" and probably could stay with a dude I know who partakes also. Will keep the date open. You know what regs we'd have to comply with?
  11. at so many words yet no clarity/sense what that guy said, sounds like a load to me
  12. Sweet ride there mate. I love these things tho am more of a fan of the 4 door sedan shape. We have a GT spec one in the garage in classic "prairie gold"...... magic There are not many unmolested ones left and if you had made it further south to Dunedin then you would have found a million of them. They are everywhere down there! Such an epic wee car especially since built in NZ. Not many of us can say our car was NZ made. Our one has just ticked over 235,000km though the 4age went in at 140,000. Alas, its not a true GT but has had the full conversion to disc brakes, engine etc and later model 15" GT wheels. just a wee bit. would be more if we didn't have our own one
  13. as above, awesome job dude. what a sweet place to live. Do you have any idea what the final weigh in is/would be?
  14. I know a someone at toyota and they told me RRP$1200 ex japan, asked for special price then rang back to say that special price is $1450 because trd price rise on 1st Feb 2011 = DOH! Yeah, gonna get it back on the road as takes up too much space in pieces all other the floor. Will be keeping eyes peeled for cheap lsd goodness but.................. PM me for addy if you wanna send me a free one Got 3 track days in one week the 1st week of april so woulda been awesome but meh
  15. Chur for ya'll help/advice guys, unfortunately I have had to shelve the lsd for now as it be getting a tad too pricey for right now. Will get the replacement box checked out and cleaned up and shove it back in a week or two. Still learning to drive with the adjustables ( ) anywho so wanna master that before I get too carried away. So ya know, new trd lsd for C52 was $1500 excl gst/freight and out of japan.
  16. I have read too many articles tonight. I think I should be getting a plate type then.
  17. I will be racing round teretonga on April 11th Also, Levels does something similar in December for extra closeness.
  18. This was less than useful btw http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/a ... x122786551 http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l60399192 http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l68785729 http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h145532813 http://page17.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/a ... v143727379 http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k136357117 You're doing it wrong. nah ah. You forgot to teach me to read japanese silly. Also, gimme 90,000 yen for the mechanical one Only one not discontinued apparently, is that the torsen one?
  19. This was less than useful btw Mr toyota man was reluctant to price 1st time round http://trdparts.jp/english/parts_lsd_mechanical.html like this then Yes, they wear out. Viscous has no parts that are in direct contact. It's like an automatic torque converter. It relies on the special viscous oil to do the work. Search viscous fluid and you get something like "Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress". With the special diff oil you end up with a fluid that will let a certain amount of slip happen but then lock solid once said limit is exceeded. The only thing that wears is the oil and that is cheap when compared to the time and parts it takes to change a clutch LSD. Clutch type is the go though. Extra for experts: Mix corn flower with water and be bewildered at how you can manipulate it. Yep, what he said................ my brain hurts........ too much learnding today
  20. Was I putting an lsd in to treat it well?
  21. So the plan is to extract a mates C52, which has only done 120k, and slap an lsd into it. This will hopefully save me the replacement bearing kit and new synchro plus I will retain the arm and leg I would need to exchange for them. Is there a better place to procure an appropriate lsd? Hope to be mostly doing motorkhana/speed events and track days etc, what one will best suit do we think then?
  22. Lol'd at RRP $1000 for new pinion shaft ex japan. Dude, may still do a deal tho suspect better to get mates spare box as only has 120k on it and start from scratch.
  23. Hmmm, Yes indeed, I know a guy with a box however cbf taking it out of his car for him.......... I've already done that once this week! I will investigate replacement parts before committing to a new box as I know another guy whom just happens to be a parts guy. Should probably ask him bout the lsd too. Also, it was 2nd synchro that was toasted. Thanks for your help thus far
  24. So the previous diagnosis was correct, bearings and synchro are toast but now I'm told that there is a bigger problem in that the Pinion shaft is munted. Pinion shafts are apparently a million dollars so might need a new box altogether, Doh! Does anyone have a pinion shaft?
