  1. Any more pics of this? Didn't see this car, but saw/loved the 39 ford coupe in the same color and equally unfinished. Never really pined last 30's cars till recently
  2. Nah don't get an rb20e , I reckon get an L28 and go to town on that with tripple sidies. THAT would be Awesome!
  3. where abouts you located? If your in christcurch I can help out with fab work for conversions
  4. nope its not sorted. He's moving flat/garages. In the middle of a natural disaster as you do. PM/text him he'll be stoked if someone can store

    SR head

16ve/20ve will is a bolt in swap for the sr18. Just keep the sr18 gearbox and replace sr18 with ve

    SR head

sr18 has a smaller bore not a smaller stroke unfortunately = gay The head will bolt onto the block but there is no oil feed in the block for the solenoids so you need to run an external line. Just buy a whole VE. 20ve's are going in the 800-1000 range on trade me now. Its not worth the hassle to make a franken motor.
  8. I was up from chch for funeral, realised once up there that kumeu was this weekend. Extended ticket, got raped by jet star. So worth it. Traffic was madder than I imagined, we were at the kumeu turn off (round about, posted 4km to Kumeu) at 8:20am, took us an hour to get in the gate. haha
  9. After seeing KPR's photoshop. I'm with the others. I reckon 14's will look better. *maybe* 15's. Those 13's with the wee tiny snitzel tyres just look ridiculous

yeah thats probably not a bad way to measure I'd do straight acceleration test too. maybe 10k rolling start to 100k (to get rid of shit launch factor) Keen to see how you get on
  11. http://snip.awardspace.com/ even better. a little script that spits out the angles required for notching same size tube together with a saw. Gives yo a wee table for all angles in 5 deg increments Gonna go give it a nudge. See how i'll get on. I don't have a drop saw unfortunately so i'll be doing the measure carefully cut cut off disc on angle grinder haha

yeah the opel head looks pretty sweet. VE's and SR's in general have a fucking disgusting exhaust ports. Like real bad. the SSR is so sharp it actually creates a vacuum across the port floor just after the ssr which is why so much of there power is made in exhaust manifolds. keen to cut a ve head up and see how much room there is to raise the exhaust port. mikuni. Don't expect a build thread on my VE anytime soon, I still got to finish building the car first and due to a rather substantial change in circumstances thats going to slow down too. Then after that I want to build a flow bench before I start building the motor. The good new is I have most the parts I need for it already so once flow bench is built and head work done I just need a gasket set and smash the thing back together! But probably not going to start it in 2011 at guess unfortunately! twosmoke. make sure you put up build thread/results i'm running standard s14 motor with extractors and air filter until I can get my VE built so keen to see how you go!
  13. plus, the main roll bar position is affected a lot by how far back your seat is, which obviously affects the othe bars. So yeah, have to notch yourself, no real way round it. But this might help http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=456800
  14. Yup, I'd agree with all that. They are very reasonably priced and an excellent fit. Dave is a Technical inspector fot Motorsport NZ, Not entirely sure what that position entails but I know he doesn't actually do the homogulation side of it though. But thats pretty much just taking some photos and filling in a form.

Gtir ITBs are horrendously bad. The runner shape on them does a massive s as well as change centers. 4age ITBs would be worth the extra hassle of mounting them over GTiR ones. Plus Gtir dont bolt on/plenum points wrong way etc anyway. I reckon your one the right track though. Use factory parts, keep it simple and cheap. And you'll make a decent amount of torque and power for very little money. sr16ve pistons in DE are 12:1, i've seen a couple second hand sets go on trademe lately for sub $200. they have a nice large crown on them so could easily be machined down slightly for 11-11.5 if you wanted. @ spencer. VE ports are 56mm x 34mm. with a 34mm inlet. Rather large

Ve ports are way to large from factory. They really are just horrendously huge. They certainly have potential but a bolt on only VE will never match a Honda VTAK with bolt ons. Bit disappointing being THAT far behind a b18c. They are normally atleast within ball park. Although no one has really had good results with ITB's on VE's, again I reckon its cause the ports are too large. I'm gonna go to town on my VE head. I'm going to fill the port floors and get an actual appropriately sized port and run ITB's. Hopefully with good results
  17. If you pay cash, you don't pay gst either haha Alot easier when you're in the same city and can pop it and get it though!

If its a budget smash together motor. Just do it. Whats the worst that happens, it destroys it self. it was a budget motor Anyway
  19. his prices have gone up. or does that include freight. I paid $460 for my 6 point.
  20. Dave (can't remember last name or shop name!!) 0274341541
  21. where did you get the kit out of curiosity was it car specific want to cage my car but being jew as as coin is at a all time low From Dave at racecraft (?) can't remember the name of his business. I think he used to work under the name sms motorsport. I have his number at work i'll dig it out on monday Cage was car specific, Its just an old dude in his 60's who is semi retired and just sells roll cage kits and builds rotary engines. Used to be a rally fiend back in the day and ran a workshop. He's also a tech inspector for motorsport nz. I've been impressed with how well my one fits He said he has 260 profiles so Its quite likely he has one for you. I.E. just buy it, don't need to send car in. $460 for basic 6 point. I.E. the bare minimum. main hoop, 2x rear stays, 1 x rear diagonal and the two front legs. door bars, dash bars, roof bars, extra diagonals etc are extra. WRC style bowtie door bars are $55 a side, single straight bars $22 a side. Thats all I can remember.
  22. BOB SAGET! I'm half way through welding in my roll cage. I brought it in kitset about 3 months ago and i'm not going to be done by jan. I'm pretty sure mine is 38mm. That licks balls.
  23. Looks epic too by the way, love it, and i'm typically not the biggest fan of escorts either but I reckon you got everything on that spot on!
  24. I thought I remembered this thing have a cage for some reason? Is it getting one?
