looks have had a bit planed of the head (looking at other head ive got looks to have 3-4 mm take off did compression test 250psi on all 4) carbs off this heads had some work done for sure 40 x 31 mm intakes also the manifold match ported its also got f-2 m22 stamped on the block.Cant find info on m22 block

Got the beast going today .

After buying a A12 mini sprint engine on trademe for cheap with the plans of stripping it all its part for a quick buck .I found myself reminiscing about old 1200 way back in the day (ex Allan Batt rally car ) I use as street car .Anyway I now have the engine home after a week and a half ive talked myself into getting a B110 Datsun Have to start some where why not with the heart bored to 1290cc with e15 pistons, 298" duration cam, 40s and unknown oval port head as far I know. fucken clean under the covers (also no numbers to id the head )May need some help to id thanks WANTED 4 door Datsun 1200 rolling or body shell

it was on trademe .I talked with him a few times about the oil and wasnt sure where it was coming from and had a mate have a good look at the car aswell as pulling the plugs out to check the oil probem out there wasnt any oil were ive got oil.I did know of a head probem i just want to fix head cheaply and use till WOF runs out before fix/replace head properly.

^^^ thanks man i got one coming tomorrow .tho im finding it hard to find a intake to plenum gasket on its own its no biggy as that looks easy to make.

yep ill be getting new gasket next time it comes off but there is definitely a crack there that needs fixed frist the above pic dont show the crack very well

i had ago with fixing today couldnt find any jb weld in oamaru the next best thing was some loctite poxy.Put it all back togetter was all good idling for about and looked to have stoped the oil leak tho after a short drive i stoped to check for leaks to find it leaking again.So im guessing that the head and the poxy dont expand and contrat the same and have let go. im liking what ztec said "neat fitting thin tube and glue it in using 3 bond" as there is about 3mm clearence ether side with the spark plug socket in there .Ive been to repco (thats really all we have here) for a rocker gasket they are wanting a part number tho can sell me a compete set!. Was nice day for a photo

im a welder myself i dont think i could get to the bottom of the crack tho i dont do alot of tig alloy welding at work .but no harm in asking someone ele

After driving back from ChCh in newly purchased mazda luce getting as far as Ashburton i could smell oil burning and only running on 5cylinders i found oil in the spark plug cavity this what i found after i took the cover off clean up all the oil to find a hairline crack run 2/3 the way down the spark plug hole This is a pain in the ass place for it to crack as there is no way to get tig welder in there .Ive been phoning the wreckers and no one seems to have or had one (JE-ZE) ive seen this suff JB weld for a cheap fix.I no a bit rangi .the best way to fix this would be to replace head. Anyone got any other way of fixing or would JB weld work??

I'm back working at awarua- training their new engineering manager and providing shift cover while one of their other staff is on holiday. ( only two fitters there ) pretty cool job. it's sent me to aus and Europe this year and all over nz. lets go do skids in the cortina.. then go pub im guessing the milk factory awarua i spent a lot of time there when they were building the place was contarted to GEA fitting all the pneumatic actuators,butterfly valves, thos big s/s blowers and the blast doors.I also did worked on the 2nd dryer that big beam in the bag room that helps hold it up.The coldest winter ive ever had was the winter i spend at awarua. yeah the milk factory, soz. it's cold there alright!!!! glad I don't have to work there outside. tho it fucken hot inside with the dryers going .had to fit up a new platform behind the big dryer not much room in there now

just a thought tho..I had the same kinda problem with my escort did everything points.spark plugs timing ,carb etc drove me nuts in the end i removed the inlet manifold to put the standard carb on to find the gasket was fucked and was sucking in to much air making it run lean as.New gasket was the fixes.

fuck ive got one dog one cat and cant find a thing and the ones i do find are not cheap
