  5. So its not the head or head gasket, sweet! Getting radiator recored. Maybe do water pump aswell. But im off to work on monday so nothing getting done for 4 weeks. Thinking about spending my bonus on head work and a cam and whatnot. Or a isuzu bighorn.

  7. Sneaky suspicion she did the head gasket returning. Massive overheats. It was a long weekend for her she made auckland but didn't quite get back. Compression test will be done when I get back and maybe pressure test coolanr system? Wasnt losing water just heating up crazy hot. I replaced thermostat and it made no difference

  14. So I have been driving this basically nonstop, It has made me question why I spent so much time with small old fords and toyotas etc. So smooth to drive and I get such good vibes driving it. But these are the hubbys I have 2 of and want two more I have the 4 hubcap clip lump things, like runamuck said I think they are vg wheels And I have 2 of these if someone wants to swap or just needs some. Yeah man will become familiar with your car as pinto is not too difficult but requires you to think and will probably not cost the earth, even buying a rusty cortina and taking the engine and box out would be waaaaaay cheaper and faster, car wouldn't even be in the shed for long. Then you will see the trans tunnell size and the distances between bulkhead and radiator, and between the arches, how the cable clutch runs, how to mate up a different accelerator cable, how much you need to cut out of bulkhead for a stupid distributor and all that shit so you can judge better for yourself in the future what will and what wont work. 3sge would be dope but it wouldn't be my first choice, mx5 twincam with 6speed would be boss if you were gonna spend shitloads (that was what I dreamed of for my last escort)

  20. Hi all So I bought this thing off trademe, not mint but decent. Its a good base to get to where I want. Its my first Valiant. Its a running project, I don't like the whole taking it off the road to work on it thing anymore as I lose motivation if I can't enjoy it. So yeah first I will be making some small alterations and probably send it to the panelbeaters for a few touch ups and rust spots. Longer term I'm thinking maybe a worked 225 with the standard 3 speed manual as I would hate to convert it to floor change. Or a 318 although that might involve an auto box. I'm after some hubcaps to fit my 14 inch steels if anyone has some they want to flick. I have 2 that fit and 2 that are too small so could work out a deal or something. Also someone buy my landrover my olds are getting annoyed
  21. I've used silver solder to repair pipework and join dissimilar shit together and its always the metal around it that deforms later. I usually use a small benz-o-matic torch with yellow gas cylinder, MAP. Blue works too but we have MAP at work most of the time. Works mint just gotta remember where you want the heat. Somtimes I braze shit but usually can't be fucked getting oa out when silver solder is so easy. But I am not a plumber so I could be doing this wrong.
  22. Used it in a worked 4k KP, didn't really help that much. Detonation went away but returned intermittently even if I hadn't finished the tank of gas that I had added it to. I used that NOS stuff, or may have been wynns? Tuned car correctly about 2 months later and ran it on 95 sweet as. Worn distributor drive gear was the problem in the end.
