  1. Can anyone recognise this brand of guage? and where they can be brought from? my car has a holder with houses 3 guages I have water temp and oil pressure, id like to get a matching boost guage to fit the missing hole cheers

I picked up what was left of a toyota ga61 celica 2000gt on saturday, it was still rolling and FREE!! droped out the T series rear end that was making horrible noises and about to go and swapped in the 4.3 F series rear end from the celica 2000gt, now its time for a no slip diff and skids on, iv done 2000kms with no problems other than turbo oil feed spliting so that got replaced next on the cards is getting an exhaust made as it is still being choked by the 3teu factory exhaust, then front mount + boost controller fitted and push the brim of reliablity of the ct20 by winding boost to 10psi pity this bad boy is keeping me distracted from my starlet,

My mate only owned it about 2 months he picked it up off trademe cheap in dunedin and he planned to on sell it, the person who owned it previous had had it 7 years, came with service history and original japanese toyota business cards ! it has a spot of rust in the bottom of 1 front guard and a little bit in the back under the bumper but it is a really tidy car

This is my 1982 Toyota carina ta63 which I've had for about 2 months now, I quickly sold a mint ke70 I had just brought as a reliable daily driver to snap up this carina my mate was selling as he needed $$$ turned out to be the best decision ever! its nearly clocked over 170kms now and I got it completely standard fitted with the 3teu/t50 with T series drum brake independent rear suspension, I then purchased a 3tgte/w55 package that sheepers had lying around , then brought another rummy 3tgte/w55 from a ta63 celica being wrecked and have put 1 good motor with 1 good box which got installed this weekend just been, It goes great and im over the moon! The basic specs 3tgte Rebuilt with aftermarket pistons some time ago with new big ends before install as 1 has slight wear so why not, excellent condition factory ct20 turbo water and oil cooled brand new 5 puk Exceedy clutch w55 gearbox 15" rays engineering wheels with 195/45r15s short shocks and cut springs, chassis rails sits about 70mm off the ground, TA63 GTT front seats This car will shortly be full ta63 GTT spec trim (F series rear), I plan to do a bit of drag racing and cone days etc in this car heres some pics add a good engine Add some big ends That ^^ is Marlon hes a 3tgte guru, hes got 4x TE71 gt's all wof/rego spec running 3tgte/2tgeu he could have wired it up blind folded, I was amazed at how fast he had it running,

I spent a weekend there about 3 years ago, we ended up with the unit 23 drift cars there and half of kaikouras boy racer population turned up, turned out to be an awesome day where alot of people gave it a go, ill definitely be keen as mustard, the track is is very rough as said above and slammed cars had a very slow trek in,

Engine is now in, fits nicely and everything is sort of where it needs to be, I get one of these next week so ByeBye brake booster, hello wilwood reverse mount pedal box, custom frame to mount into kp and 3x wilwood master cyls, 1 for front brakes 1 for rear and one for clutch. I need some remote reservoirs and to mount them in wiper motor compartment, The engine has already had genuine nissan cambelt, clutch, water pump, thermostat etc etc so i got an extra $400 valuve out of my engine, so its ready to go Wiring loom has been heavily chopped down by a ca18det into datsun guru and will be stitched into car hopefully this week next on the to do list cut hole for shifter and mount gearbox fuel lines crank pully machined down for radiator clearance mount pedalbox (arrives next week) + brake lines then dash back in once wired

Well its been a while since an update, Iv now shifted places so have somewhere sheltered to work on my starlet, everything I dont need has been removed, all bolts were cracked for the 1st time .There is NO rust, the car is pretty much flawless , The engine loom has been removed to be cut down and wired into starlet, gearbox split from motor reveals a mint as factory nissan clutch but I will be replacing this with a heavy duty exceedy in the next few weeks, the motor is ready to go straight in, then I will have so cut a hole further back in the tunnel for the shifter and modify the gearbox crossmember to suit, then diff upgrade will begin, couple of pics I haven't even cleaned the engine bay I will be taking extra extra care to keep all paint intact and not chip or scratch while motor is being installed got wheels finished and tyres on them, bit of modivation

I know a guy who works here (Well i think, he works at a auto upholsterers on blenhiem road) His names andy late 30s did an entire retrim on a 2 door starlet i used to own, absolutely amazing job for $1100 that was late 07, , that included, retrimming the front seats (ke30 that he supplied) back seat, carpet, hood lining, sun visors, hand brake and gear stick boot, carpet in boot, door cards modified and retrimmed (way better than factory) . it all looked a million bucks when he was done, he does cash jobs out of a farm shed in sefton (20kms out of chch), I cannot rate the job he did high enough, sorry guys no photos he also recently re did my mates has has his datsun 1200 sedan interior fully retrimed aswell $1200 from memory His names andy contact ph no. 027 3209415 if he asks who you are just say brad with the black starlet passed on his number
  14. go ca18det! im putting one into my starlet and my engine/box/loom/ecu/fuel pump/drive shaft/afm with a warranty and a genuine 76'000kms cost me $2000 includin gst about 3 weeks ago which is pretty much what youd pay for a full 4age converison so why bother?? , basic cheap upgrades like gt28, vr4 injectors, z32 afm front mount and chip for ecu off trademe and your pretty much Guaranteed 250hp atw, Iv owned a modified 3tgte, imo 2tgeu = boat anchor, 3tgte = bigger boat anchor, not to mention the lack of parts available for 3tgte,
  15. yeah I think id struggle to find a better body there is not a dent or spot of rust anywhere, the wheels need the 80 cap screws holdin them together machines down 1mm then zincd or chromed before wheels go back together then ill get tyres on them. haha the only thing fast and furious about my mirage is the holes it leaves in the lawn when i get on the piss
  16. the 65k engine was promised to new owner of my old ke25 as I took th modified 4k out of ke25 and sold it which paid for the ca18det so why bother with 4k.. wanted a project and didnt want 4age like everyone else. I had an old starlet of mine built up for a friend in aus with a ca18det which my mate did all the work on so scored a free starlet crossmember modified to accept s13 mounts as he made duplicates and the 76km ca18det package poped up so i couldnt say no, hopefully everything will be straight forward

I had to pull the factory 4k engine out to put into a car I sold, so now ive decided to put a ca18det into it, I managed to find a mint engine package for a mint price! heres some picks The starlet The engine The wheels and tires, rays engineering 15x6.5 + 195/45r15s I am just waiting for my flatmate to get rid of one of her peices so I can have some shelter under carport to start making it all happen, slowly gathering bits and peices still got 8 months no licence so in no real hurry, I should realistically have it on road before xmas, intended mods at this stage, t28 gtir turbo vr4 front mount intercooler vr4 injectors electronic boost control 500hp walbro external pump and surge tank 3" exhaust z32 airflow meter chipped ecu This is a setup a couple of my mates run and on 15psi good for a reliable 250rwhp+ish hilux lsd diff or similar u13 bluebird discs / mr2 twin pot pot calipers up front 2 race seats no back

  20. fair enough, was just passing on what I herd from a reliable scource who is well respected in the industry. I have only herd negative things from people who have had experience with NZEFI. But as far as tuning carbs go sumner marine is were I would go but there not cheap. . my mates a14 was running like shit when it went in there and it cost him $500 to get tuned but I honestly couldn't believe the difference after. . johnny? well he is "buying" my ke25 its nearly paid for but unfortunately it won't change hands till its out of the impound on 7th feb lol. . Whats sort of starlet you got? sidedrafts?
  21. yep sure am, I flat with her now aswell. sold my ke25 and wheels for more than what i paid for the whole car in the last week or so (even though its in the impound) picked up possibly one of the best original condition starlets in nz off trademe yest so will drop the $12'000 4k i got out of the ke25 into it while i got no licence. . . as the ke25 handled like a boat. Ill be getting my car tuned by sumner marine as soon as i get licence back and it on the road! Josh, elly says "hello and I love you"
