  1. made some progress last week, cleared everything out of the car that was loaded up for the moving of house, then got it on some stands. pretty good effort from me really haha
  2. keen for others, but working for this one
  3. had a long day yesterday, bused up to chch , went and picked this up, jump started it,changed rear wheel, fueled up,cleaned it then hit the road, bit nervous as to how far id get knowing the clutch was starting to slip when loaded up, but no issues at all with that, just cruised along, did happen to get a flat tyre so chucked space saver back on, now i can start with changing out the clutch and giving it a tidy up.
  4. i know autobend here in chch can supply bends or bend up what you need in alloy, unsure of price now, sent them a mild steel copy of what i wanted and they lasered it and seny back as one piece and dont remember the price being outrageous
  5. what size rim and width of band/rim half is that for?
  6. what up fools, dose any know of an decent temporary accommodation down dunedin ways, preferably north-ish dunedin, suitable for a month and be working shift work out of town aswell. looking at options untill a lease comes free in the town id prefer to live as it will be close to work, but can get free travel to and from work from dunedin so seems best option while buying time for a month. let me know of any options / ideas you have. CHEERS!
  7. yo cletus, my cert plate says the engine config in my car is a inline 4, as far as im aware it has never had a 4cyl in it, could this likely be a f*ck up on the person that prints the plate? also can it be corrected without going for another cert? was done before the car came into my possession. also could vinz/vtnz be able to look up who certified it if i give them the cert number or rego etc?
  8. hit up rapid performance in timaru ? i dont know if they do but i know alot of people from up here have had very good service from them and also all around the south island
  9. not long ago seen some in a catalog maybe bnt or saeco ? for $40-45 im thinking it was bnt
  10. yeah shouldnt be too bad i guess, just trying to gauge if i can get it done at home(if i can be fucked batteling) with minimal tooling and axle stand/jacks etc or should try get some workshop space, only issue is not having a clutch kit by my side to slap stright in so taking more than 1 day due to everything shutting at 12pm and not being able to work on the car till after 12pm haha
  11. you sure? i was pretty keen to test my management skills
  12. never had a problem aligning clutchs by eye, hopefully be the case this time too haha
  13. aparently beaaring dose come with the kits the bnt man said, not expensive either which is good, just hoping that i dont get gearbox unbolted and halfway out and find something stupid is in the way and it all has to be put back together or if its quicker to whip engine out, but cheers man will just give it a go when i get some time. haha cheers man, i can be supervisor and ill just sit back in a chair drinking beer while you sort it? keen? shouldnt be to hard just gotta find the spare time/cash/motivation now. the years pretty much fucked
  14. whats up chaps, got to replace clutch in car, whats the quickest way to get this done? am i going to run into any hassels trying to slip the gearbox(w55) out the back with out moving the motor(1ggte) need to get done as quick as possible as dont have suitable location to get it done, also been told theres 2 different clutch sizes which is also a pain as i cant have everything there ready to go
  15. if no luck by saturday i could help if the inlet is the same or reasonably similar to a turbosmart supersonic edit, quick google says 38mm/1.5 inch inlet, its the style with grub screws not the flanges
  16. to see what it sounds like or to see if it works properly? if the first just jam up some youtube
  17. nah it went when i sold the 180sx
  18. whats happening chaps and chapesses? thought id spew out some pics of the soarer ive had for i dont know how many years, minimal progress has been made on it aswell due to coming in and out of daily status whilst other cars come in and out of my possesion. picked it up running a 1ggeu, w55,17x8 drift teks, spare diff (locked), custom paint job. not really any pics of it from when i first had it or the antics that were had in it but oh well this is how it was looking whilst owing it for a year or two, thought i might try sell to see what i could exchange it for but nothing intereted me so it stayed these pics must be taken a few years ago because of the hell big and external aerial, phone hiding under the stereo, flash "anti vibration" gear knob and after market steering wheel the dirty old 1ggeu, im confident that all owners of this vehicle has punished this and many more of the engines that would have been fitted, i never had an issue with the 1ggeu untill it spat a bearing around 6 or so months ago, then it go ripped out. can even spot the cert plate on driver side tower, cert for wheels, suspension, hub spacers, manual etc even managed to get it to the open days at the track but the guy taking the photos that day didnt get many photos after the track days was put into storage for a while then pulled out about a year and a half ago and found some rims i thought might be alright but being 5stud and also 16" i decided not to go that way and they left my hands fitted up a new steering wheel and also a rather large gearknob that gets many interesting looks and comments from all the old billys that i work with, also digital dash for the win! had to have a horn button for wof so out come the duct tape during the snow we had last year i decided it would be a good idea to take the soarer to work as my 74 b1600 only had a light flat deck, was great fun plowing the road from hornby to moorhouse ave. also had some 15x10s fitted up on the rear and some ssr somethings on the front once again the rims didnt last ( on the rear for now ) and picked up some 14x9 impul mesh for the rear and then eventually got these for the front 14x8 ssr mesh (4 rims made into 2) so had both ssr and impul centers painted same colour and stainless capscrews through out with new nuts and polished lips and now it sits like this with the addition of this and some front camber plates and some front camber plates and now got one of these has a sneaky front mount behind the bumper that fits nicely, turbosmart whoooosh noise maker, new ht and plug leads, and finally a re-cored radiator. plenty to do on this beast and havent really done anything in the years ive owned it but starting to get into it now, heaps to tidy up on it especialy the interior and new paint job ! would love to get new dash, center consul, ash tray etc and may have to change tyre sizes/profiles to get it to sit nice. spam away

    1G-EU Problem

you sure its back firing out the intake? also check the top of the coil where the plug fits and condition of your leads, my old 1ggeu had fucked leads and crack in the coil so spark would jump, check condition of rotor and the pins on the inside of the dizzy cap
  20. i would say it would be just as accurate as any other, brand new used for 5min when i got the soarer up and running then biffed in wardrobe i think. i would say the gauge you have would be just as good if new is the bov adjustable? if so maybe wind it up to put more tension on the spring that holds the piston on its seat?
  21. ive got a cheap ass auto gauge or autometer one i picked up from repco to check my set up, can fish it out if ya like? wastegate flap maybe not fully sealing because its covered in crap on the seat? worn turbo? try gauge at different points in the circuit after the turbo? slight leak at joiners?
