  1. Are you struggling for entry numbers? I'd compete if someone would be kind enough to lend me a car for the day.
  2. I felt a bit silly when I walked up to 2 dudes in the carpark just after I arrived. They were wearing dark clothes and had scraggy hair and beards (so, standard Oldschool car spec I thought), and I said "Hey, how's it going? Are you here for the Oldschool meet?". They weren't, and they looked at me like I was a bit strange. Awkward.
  3. My ex-uncle hit a horse at 100km/h, and the top of the windscreen split the horse's head in half, with the lower jaw landing in his lap. He had nightmares about it for a while. P.S. I won't be able to make it to the sunbed enthusiast support group meeting, sorry (not that I've been to an Auckland meet anyway). I don't actually know how I even ended up in this thread. /spam
  4. Tyres were probably close to their prime. I remember lifting off the throttle in a couple of spots where I should have stayed hard on it. I think maybe a 50-flat is possible.
  5. I've just been looking for some old results for a blog post that I'm writing at the moment, and I see that Campbell had also emailed the unofficial times from that 4th run we did. I managed a 0:52.28 on that one, and I reckon I could drop that further with some more practice and a fresh engine.
  6. How was it? Cold? Didn't finish work until 10:45pm, so couldn't make it sorry. Keen for karts soon.
  7. That front is hideous. I don't mind the overfenders though. I wonder if any other front bumpers would fit with the rest of the kit?
  8. Might bring the virgin Civic out for Hiwi Road and Sainsbury instead of the RX-7. Man, it's been so long since I've gone racing!
  9. Good effort Mike - attending 2 nights in a row. At least you won't be the only one there this time.
  10. Not sure of the exact cost yet - but I'm probably going to have to budget at least $10,000 to upgrade to full Pro7 Plus spec (including a few non-engine related things). I spoke to Green Brothers back in February about having an engine built, and Richard recommended that I contact Mark if they weren't able to squeeze me in. 2 positives came out of this weekend - I'll save a bit of money by not being able to compete in the last 2 rounds, and it also gives me an extra month to prepare for next season.
  11. So my engine died at the test day at Hampton Downs today. Second lap of the first session and it started misbehaving, cruised around on the third lap and came in after the fourth, but it was too late. Suspected water seal(s), which was a bit of a surprise. A bit gutted that I missed this round at my favourite track, and I won't be able to race at Taupo over Easter weekend. I was really hoping to get through this season with a tired engine - not a dead engine. Not actually that annoyed about it though, as it means I have more time to upgrade the car now. So it's decision time: - Rebuild engine, upgrade to full Pro7 Plus spec, and dominate all - Wait a year and out the money towards our property/house that we want to buy within the next 12 months - Race my unused Honda Civic race car instead
  12. I wanted to go to this badly, but I have to go to a wedding tomorrow. I missed out last year because of a stupid wedding too. Stupid weddings. Have fun guys. The weather forecast is looking good.
  13. The advert didn't mention its blue smoke producing abilities at all IIRC.
  14. /\/\/\ Yeah, I had a quick tally up last night and came to the same results. Christo was super consistent, so he was pretty safe - even without competing in the last event. I saw that his MR2 is/was on Trade Me for sale the other week.
  15. Yeah, it was. I don't have a working speedo, but I just did a quick tyre/gear ratio/rev calculation, and top speed would have been between 180-190km apparently. I heard someone say that Allen Fretwell's Legacy can do 230km/h on the straight at the end.
  16. Yep, and the weather forecast is looking great. I got my trailer registered and WOFed today, woop!
  17. Yeah, spine was a little tender. I also noticed that the muscles in my left wrist were a bit sore, but my right side was ok.
  18. Is there much interest in them from people in the northern part of the north island? It seems that the majority/all of them are Manawatu based. And are the rounds mainly going to be at Manfeild and Taupo, rather than Hampton and Pukekohe?
  19. Bummer you won't be making it to the last Fiat Tarmac Series event.
