  1. That sounds like fucking great work, GL with sale etc.
  2. I'm not sure man, send me a message with your details and I'll pass it on. Cheers.
  3. Cheers, I'm not seriously looking just yet, but I occasionally see plug and play ECUs advertised for quite a bit less than equivalent wire in options.
  4. I've always wondered with the Plug n play ECUs: if you just cut the engine plugs off the loom, could you use them on any engine? Like, take a plugin S15 Link, and use it to run a 4AGE? Other than the connectors, are they actually different?
  5. That sounds like a big taper to me, but I'll have a look when I get home from work! Edit: It does actually make sense. I was getting all crossed up because I thought 1/8 must be a BSP thread pitch or something. Why isn't everything metric?
  6. I feel dumb asking this. I bought a few 5/16" x 1/8 BSP brass fittings the other day, but for the life of me I can't figure out what tap I need to buy. I'm sure I'm over thinking it, but nothing actually says 5/16" x 1/8 BSP. Can someone tell me what I need to look for?
  7. Are there any rules regarding winding down torsion bars? I'm not wanting to go really low or anything, more just curious. Is it basically just stay above 100mm?
  8. Helping this guy out as I agreed to do this job, did one day, then got offered something else. Repairing ride on lawnmowers. Dude has a lush setup at his house in Castor Bay. He's looking for someone with some mechanical experience who can get straight into repairing/servicing with minimal training. He's got another guy with no experience to do sanding/painting etc. Pay starts at $18/hr, but will increase quickly to low/mid 20's when you show you can do stuff. He's flexible about days of work etc. This could also work for someone just looking for part time hours, or who knows, close to full time? Just shoot me a message with your experience and I'll pass it on.
  9. Small update on the above. I got the ute back from a reputable repairer with a new bumper and guard, looking very schmick. After the crash he just seemed like a confused old man, so I told the cops that if they were happy then I didn't need to press charges. The police gave him my address for some reason, and after the crash he came around and wanted to take pictures of the damage. I let him do it as it was parked on the road and he would have just done it anyway. Then he kept calling and harassing me about getting his friend to repair it instead of going through insurance (um, no thank you). When I stopped taking his calls he started coming over. While I was away for Xmas my neighbor told him to fuck off out of my carport/back garden, then my partner saw him skulking around at 5am. Last night he came over and started trying to get me to admit fault, then when I told him it wasn't happening he threatened to take me to court to pay for the damages to his car. Today I called the cop, who said that the guy had been doing everything he could to weasel out of paying his ticket for running a red light (his only legal penalty), and given how much he's been hassling me they are now going to throw the book at him. Cue careless/reckless use, failing to stop after an accident, not stopping for police etc etc. Gonna suck to be him. The cops also told me how to trespass him, if he comes back.
  10. You might be on to something there! I quite like some of the terrano bullbars.... The panelbeater couldn't match the paint last time, so he repainted the whole side of the car. Hoping to get this side matching now!
  11. The ute clocked 300000km under auspicious circumstances today! I got a green arrow to turn left on the way to work, pulled out and slammed straight into the side of a red light runner. He carried on through the intersection and I pulled in behind him waiting for him to stop, but he didn't. When we got on the motorway I called 111 and commenced pursuit of the fugitive! The cops caught us up just as we got off the motorway and slotted in behind him with the lights on and he continued driving while the ute clocked 300 as I tailed the police. The guy eventually stopped when he got to work at New World Albany and immediately admitted to police that he'd run the light, which was a relief as a 15km pursuit tends to mean there aren't witnesses. Pretty light damage really, given that the entire side of his car folded up. Steel bumpers vs. Daihatsu tin can.
  12. Niice, I loved my TR50! I had a lot of fun on it with dual purpose tyres, even if the suspension doesn't hold up to real offroad stuff. Being flexible enough to pest around anywhere was great. I don't have anything to add except appreciation.
  13. Damn, those are nice! I've been chatting with the joka who owns this (and should be dropping by the forums at some point). Got a wild Z20et build bored out to take z24 pistons etc etc.
  14. I got a bit carried away yesterday and bought these. A set of 5 in 16x8. They're made in Japan, but the only maker's mark I can see is "4wd Engineering Service". They need a tidy up, but once I sell the tyres they should be free. Also, free plug for Youi insurance. 1 hour after submitting a claim form the car was booked to be assessed. My excess was also waived without needing to confirm fault with the other party or anything else. Bloody impressed for what's meant to be cut price insurance. Edit: this is the tidiest one.
  15. I'm quite impressed with the choke setup tbh, and the rest of the carb is super tidy. What kind of datto engine was it on again? I wonder if you got away with it because it was running jets that were only like 1 or 2 sizes down from what I'm using on a 2.4L Z24.

    PAINT THREAD

What's people's go to for painting aluminium wheels? Something like the duplicolor aerosol, or better to use a 2 pack paint with/without clear? Context is wheels which are painted, but flaking and corroded.
  18. In all honesty I'm not too sure, it was just labeled accelerator pump on the diagrams I've been looking at.
  19. It may not be disabled, but it doesn't look like this anymore
  20. Today: This silly bitch lovely lady decided to move out of her stationary lane into my moving one and poked her wheel into my door and all the way down the side. Then she got out out and asked if she took her car to the panelbeater today when I'd be able to pay her back. Turns out she has no insurance, luckily this is the first car I've ever had full insurance on. Most of the damage is in the shaded part of the picture, but it has gouged every panel behind the guard.
  21. So yeah, I still haven't done the cooling system. Friday was the last day of classes at uni for the year, and still have exams coming up, but hoping to find some time for it soon. I did track down an annoying rattle to a loose exhaust mount (steel to steel hard mount). Rejetted a weber 32/36 I got off a forum member quite a while ago, the first carb I've jetted, so that was fun. It was all going well until I noticed that someone had disabled the accelerator pump. Bought a new one from Ebay, and it's now probably totally lost in the Italian postal system. cocknballs.jpg I've also found a guy who has Z20e efi gear and a Z22 head to suit the inlet ports, so hopefully at some point the carb will become redundant. Z24ET ahoy.
  22. A mate whacked the turbo gear off a 2L-T 4Runner/Surf on his NA engine. Went 1.5x better. The engine had 400 000kms and took freeboosting like a champ until the turbo shat itself.
  23. I suppose that's an easy place to start! It didn't do this when it was in the other car though, the only changes to the cooling system are the thermostat and a possible bad job bleeding the system. I even took the radiator etc from the other one. Kingcab is the best, just sucks that they weren't available with anything other than the 2wd Z24. Maybe I should keep the flatdeck one and swap it onto a TD27 4wd chassis /dreams
