Hellraizer (the good lad) has picked up some wheels for me in gissy. Now left with the task of getting them up here, so just wondering if anyone is passing through that would perhaps enjoy some petrol/beer wallet contributions? I'm sure many including possibly me will be doing the trip in the silly season, just don't want to make Raizer hold them for so long. Cheers Steve

was so releived to see this -
Yeah std rods, and crank is from a 2e-t. I can post more pics, top of pistons are quite black, not sure on surface condition though. Was wanting to see what marku thought in person. perhaps i should change title of this thread. I chatted to a guy on toyspeed who used to race or crew for the ep71's back in the day, he seemed to think it was all above board.
-
thanks mate, will be interested to hear your thoughts edit: also it was the dellorto weber dhlb's on TM that I was looking at, just don't know if the info is correct. auction here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=253702877

Yeah, all point you have raised I have been chatting to the guy about (except ports). As for rings he was gunna check if std toyota ones fit. Would have to get a new block, but thats easy. Marku (the GC) was gunna have a look at it when he has time so will wait for a condition report from him. The more I think about it now the more its seems like me having pipe dreams, and I should just stick to what I was planning with the 4age, especially seeing besides the mount and getting it wired, everything I need I already have.

yeah thats the one I'm a bit sceptical of the 160hp but the seller has said that that was balls to wall on the edge (timing at 38deg btdc + adj cam gear at full) and would suit daily application at 120-130hp (detune by retard timing etc) It would be nice to have and different but like you said mikuni reliability is a factor, plus in my mind spares and availability is another (not many spares kicking around for these)

If you have low and high level vents in your enclosure on two sides, it should be able to provde plenty of cooling through natural ventilation. As the air gets hot its will rise and exit out the top and will draw in air at low level, plus you will get some wind load venting the room and provide air paths for when the compressor is dragging in air. Would just cover them with birdmesh and a flashing to prevent rodents getting cosy in there and water ingress. That said, unless you are building something completely air tight you shouldn'y have too much of a problem as there will be plenty of leakage. RE: noise, I imagine that most of the noise that will come off this will be of low frequencies. Pink bats won't do anything to stop that, you need something with a fair bit of mass to stop the lower freq's. Something like 3 or 4 10/12mm gib panels would probably do the trick. Can explain that more if wanted.

So I am getting nasty thoughts about this 'trd spec' 2e motor. It has a manifold for carbs that I assume to be for side draughts, though will need to confirm this. Given the motor is a 1300, what sort of size should I be looking at for the carbs? According to the reliable trademe twin 35's seem to be fine for anything from 1000cc to 2500cc. However I can't grasp that unless there is consideable choking involved. So far looking at both dellorto and weber, have heard of tuneability issues with weber, though this may be for twin sidedraughts in general? Any other brands I should look at? Also had the thought about bike carbs, but I know even less about these than I do about normal carbs. I understand one of the issues with bike carbs is getting a vacuum for the brake booster? If anyone has ideas/point me in the direction of a good website or book, that'd be ace. Cheers Stevo

xsspeed's Corollas: EE80->Beams3s & NZGT Liftback
xsspeed replied to xsspeed's topic in Other Projects
Only minor rust removal progress to date on corolla, nothing post worthy. Going in for shoulder reconstruction on friday...the 13th!! so will be tucking this away for most of summer I'd say. Weighing up option of getting 'TRD spec' 2e motor, pricey investment but probably work out cheaper in the long run over blacktop conversion. Has a claimed 160hp @ 9000rpm - will remain to be seen. So I have motivation to get strength back I'll post Simon's awesome photoshops here. Pics are of truenotch's wheels, hopeing to acquire some of the 4x100 +15 persuasion immenently. Less talk, moar pics With slam sans slam IMO non-4wd spec required -
whose wiring it up for you? running link/other ecu or toyota?
-
ah makes more sense lol
-
What car is that? The Corona? Theres driveshafts in that serpentine live axle?
-
aha your second post of clarification makes sense. Cheer ears. Yeah the warning for Negative Ground threw me off eh, 1st time I have seen a warning label about it on something electronic so thought I better play safe. (this one stereo in particular appears to be around 15 years old or so).
-
Is someone able to enlighten me or point me in the direction of some credible info pertaining to negative ground electrical systems and/or how this differs from the norm? I am a n00b wrt this Reason I ask is I have acquired some old car electrics including stereos etc, that say "For Negative Ground Only" and either 12V or 13.8V.
