  4. I use Mobil 1 as I got 40L of it for free BUT mobil is shit, castrol make much better oil IMO/am a fan of castrol.

  8. I was a bit worried about the cam thing, as 2x motors are off rotary hoes (the 2 shitter ones) and the other off a lawn mower. I only just noticed the other night, that the lawn mower engine has a much smaller out put shaft, I'm guessing because it fed into a clutch, and didnt have a pulley/belt driving straight off it like the others? I pulled the shittest motor apart, and if needs be can slap that cam/crank into the other motor. Is really hard finding any info on these motors, found listings for all the engine codes, but nothing saying what the difference between them is? And yes, it will sound horrible, horrible like a FOX!
  9. make them some obscure angle and reduce idle speed to barely moving for maximum points Thats the plan, if you take off the kill switch, these things will go down to like 3rpm (or so it sounds) so with two of them doing 3rpm, with straight pipes, I think they will sound pretty good. I will make the crank link thing adjustable, and then play around with them till they sound the best, like I said up there ^ "will play with firing set up for optimum chur soundingness, im thinking while ones on the exhaust stroke, have the other on the compression stroke/firing for max lumpyness?" = BANG BANG ..................... BANG BANG .................... BANG BANG ............... and so on. Anyone know if theres some kind of calculation on how to work out carb/jet size for a certain displacement of engine? like a general rule or anything? Aint gonna be no race motor, but I dont want it to be a total cunt. Have found cheap new ones on trademe but dude says they are for "50/70/100/125cc motors" seems like a wide range for the same carb to do? Have to wait a few weeks till I can get my hands on a lathe, so have got frame and wheels at work, so I can start on that.
  10. The main reason I was going to go to one carb was so I can make a lush tank, and have it above the motor on the frame, and do away with the two std tanks. The std briggs carbs suck from the tank, so dont think you can just slap a fuel line on the pick up? would flood seeing as it has no float bowl wouldnt it? But like you say, getting the rite sized carb, and then jetting it will be a bit of a cunt. Mate of mine reckons/kinda makes sence that unless you have them firing at the same time you dont need a carb thats twice the size of one std one (I was going to add the two engines CC's together and then try find a carb from an engine of that cc?) as they wont both be sucking shit in at the same time? Is that true, OR do you still need twice the air/fuel to run them no matter when they are firing? Am keen to get motor running, will play with firing set up for optimum chur soundingness, im thinking while ones on the exhaust stroke, have the other on the compression stroke/firing for max lumpyness?

Heres some of the crap ive amassed to make this bad boy outta, First up, my lawn mower "Colonel Brigg's" kindly donated his engine: I have two other motors, ones a runner, found it at the dump on a hoe, the others out of a scrap bin, was full of water, and had a few bits missing. The two motors I plan to link, I hope to get them this close together: Drilled out the spot welds on one of the starters, so I can leave the cooling shroud on, and have a hole to link the cranks: The rims I plan to use: Belt drive tensioner: The steel frame I may use parts of/mud guards/sprung seat: Wanna get the motor going and then make the bike frame to fit. Have to do a bit of research on the motors as I want to make up a manifold and run one carb for both motors, off a motorbike or summin, if anyone out there is a B&S motor expert, any info or advice would be great.

  13. I have been slowly collecting parts for this wee project for about a year, and after seeing CDL's Brigg'sMX project it kinda motovated me to make a start on it. I plan on making a half assed 1900/1920's style motorcycle out of bike parts, powered by a basic home made parallel twin engine, which is going to be a pair of modified 2hp B&S horizontal shaft motors side by side and joined at the crank. I will most likely make the frame from scratch, from some tiny exhaust tube I have laying about. It will be hard tail, and I hope to make some sort of cantilever suspension for the front. I will post up some pics tonight of what I have/plan to do. The style im going for is kinda a mix of these:

  16. Was well happy with how seat turned out, got it done for free even! I never noticed how crap speedo cable guide looked till you mentioned it, now it bugs me, haha. Dunno how I could make it look chur-er tho? In other news, I sorted out a few other issues, the front left indicator would stop working now and then, which aint good on a bike, gets you run over. Spent ages checking shit, was a cunt as you had to move the loom a certain way to get it to stop working, but after much pissing around I found the broken wire, see below for blured up cell ph pic: Got that all fixed up, then moved onto getting the indicator indicator on the dash working, as its easy to leave blinkers on. Turned out that the indicator warning light was also the low oil level light, so when I removed the oil tank, I broke the circut, so made up a lil jumper cable, slaped that in, and covered it with piss loads of tape, and bang, sorted.

  18. Well, got this suka going on Friday night, got WOF and Reg on sat, weathers been shit, but have been for a few blasts. For a detuned "road" version, seems to go pretty good, am happy with the power while I learn, will no doubt want more in the future. Only down side I have found so far is it eats gas like a slut, 11L tank got me 110km, thats half on road, half off. Will be a bit of a pain now its premix, and will have to make a carrier to hold a gas container if I go for an adventure in the bush. Other thing you nice ppl might be able to tell me, is what mix of water/antifreeze are you ment to run in these?. Also will have to check that its not running lean. New seat and front shock covers have made it look a fair bit more modern, but have left the sweet KDX stickers on, so you know its 90's. This is what it looks like now: Mate of mine is going to help me make some sweet graphics for it, to cover number boards n shit, will get onto that soon. Cheers.

  20. Im not sure if your ment to do them all at once or not? My front cog and chain was super rooted, but the back looks fine, so left it. The shock boots were like $40 for the pair, I think the brand was "gators" or summin? The factory purple ones are $110 each or some shit!?! Yeh, im getting my seat redone, as it was worn to shit, and purple, is going to be that fancy grippy black shit, seat will prolly hold me up tho, as dude takes ages to do anything.
  21. I had wondered if you had to do anything when changing to premix, any set rule as to how much bigger you should go? I was thinking of taking the guts out of the tune pipe (they have sound deadning in there) ment to be a mean pipe after being gutted, and would have to re-jet after doing that also. Cos this is the "SR" / road version its got extra sound deadning and a smaller carb, so a bit down on power then the std one, so am keen to free it up a bit.
  22. Getting close, got the info I needed today, so motor can go back togeather, should be going by the weekend!!!!11!!!!!1 Some pics! Moments after getting it, Being a jap spec bike it had this behind/under the seat Hole in tank had been fixed with hot glue, was shit, so ripped all the oiling gear off, made a plate to cover oil pump hole Got a new chain through work, and a front sprocket/gaskets/front shock boot things in black from Kawasaki No more purple! Took snork out of air box, ment to help a bit KIPS bizo all back togeather Motor should be back in frame tomorrow, CHUR.

Not to mention the instant crap your pants back wheel action when ya give it a fistfull Yeh, I was looking at a KLX, but was a bit pricey for me, plus after riding Jonny B's (Waimaks on here) RMX250 a few times, I decided 2 stroke was the only way, is amazing how much power they make for such a lil motor. Got most of the parts on Sat, a few bits were wrong, as its jap import, some bits are diff to the ones that came out here, but got what I need to put it back togeather, just waiting on parts dude to find out torque setting for head n shit. Will post some top notch cell ph pics later. Churs.
