  1. ^ Aint done that, yet. Well didnt get this done as Whakatane toyota suck, the parts guy only works every second sat or some shit, so couldnt get any info from them, went in today, and they dont have any info any way, so that was neat, all the mechanic could tell we was "theres something weird about how you fit the tensioner, but I cant remember what" and the book that shows how to fit every cam belt in the world dont list 1gfe's, so im still at a lost on torque settings and whats weird about the tensioner
  2. I got a complete kit, lost an RB motor to a reused tensioner once, so I always get new ones. I hit up Waimaks, they have one of those books that shows how to fit timing belts on diff motors at his workshop, should have 1gfe in it/all the info I need. Cheers for the input tho.
  3. Hello, I hope to do timing belt and water pump on altezza this weekend, was just hoping someone might be able to help me with the bolt torque settings, and if there is anything odd I need to know about said procedure? Local toyota parts guy is a bit slack, but will try him if I have to, cant find info on the net. First one ive done with hydraulic tensioner, this sets the tension im guessing, so you dont have to put said amount of tension on belt at said point to get so many mm of movement? (silly Q I know, but best to check) Any help would be rippa. Cheers.
  4. Yep, new front looks a lot nicer, whole cars looking pretty swank.
  5. Yeh, thats what im thinking, i'd happily give up a hp or two to get the dort back, but not at all keen to use socks again. Would most likely make decent partition to keep hot air out anyway, so doubt there would be a noticeable loss in power. Only thing that worries me is space.
  6. Yeh, thinking about taking fiberglass intake off and slapping one of them on, sounds stupid, but I want the intake noise back, also want to make intake longer.
  7. Are they choice? If so where would I get one?
  8. At the mo, its got the 3au clutch plate inbetween the 20v fly wheel and pressure plate, maybe it wont be as shit as I thought? From memory we did grind out the bell to get the 20v clutch and fly in there. Oh well, will run it as is and see what happens!
  9. Yeh, K50 and T50 are completely different. The next question I have is, whats the best way to set up the clutch? At the moment it has the 20V flywheel and pressure plate, with the K50 clutch plate, it was done like this because the 20V has 2 more bolt holes on crank (6 vs 8?) for flywheel then the 3AU, and because 20V cluth plate wont fit on K50 input spline, the problem is the clutch plate is much smaller then the 20V one, so it kinda only has half of its area contacting, the inner part of the plate is over the recess in the 20V flywheel, and I dont think it will last to well? Is there an easy way to do this better? Had planned to machine 20V flywheel and put the original K50 pressure plate on it, by way of redrilling the correct PCD into it, so would end up with 20V flywheel, and K50 clutch and pressure plate.
  10. Sweeeeeet, may end up with a AE70 with a silver top in it, thinking may be hard on the box, have a few K40/50's about, just wanted to know if I could use parts from them. Cheers ppl.
  11. Is everything about them the same apart from the bell housing? As in, would the guts from a 3K K50 fit in a 3AU K50?
  12. AE70/AE85's come with 3AU motors, is the gear box behind them a K series with a A series bell housing? Or is this a load of crap?
  13. Hey, its a dog, but on a swing, not on the ground where a dog would normally be. Invigorating.
  14. Nice. I reckon keep the original motor, nearly seems like a shame to change it?
  15. Yep, use them for track days, they are very good for the $$, but not so great in the wet (well on my car any how)
  16. They would be OK as a wet on track, but would melt in the dry. They are a good road tire, but noisey as shit.
