  2. It sucks none of the pictures work now. Will just pic dump the end of it i think
  3. It may just be a labour of love. We have 2 working dailys now so i will chip away at this when i can. My old crown thread is a good read too: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/27266-nics-toyota-crown-1988-gs131/
  4. If you find something u want welded on i can glue some metal together for you. You are just round the corner arnt you?
  5. Is that how long your shifter is? Needs to be more like this:
  6. Hey dude, Awesome mini. Its the first time ive read your thread and i read through the comments. Have you figured out the power loss issue? one thing that caught my attention was how close your carb inlet is to your firewall. Whats the distance from the flange face to your firewall? In that picture it looks really close. You may find the lack of power is from lack of airflow into the engine, also trumpets make 100000% more difference in throttle response and power. Good work tho. looks staunch. Good luck with the sunroof
  7. Be prepared for it to take longer though
  8. Epic dude, keep it up. I gave up on the rotary idea for the mx5 i had yonks ago when i priced up the seals and bearings. I hope you are prepared for the price tag. I would still love to build a rota, one day....
  9. Sad crown gets sadder as i slowly gut it more and more. Sad 1jz Sad pile of garbage that used to make the car go vroom vroom Sad pile of JZ bits As i am a uni student/jobless bum, my misses says i cant buy car parts. So Sad crown will be sad for a long time i think. Will clean bits and bobs and do what i can to busy myself. Will also commit a lot more time to the carina now Martyns car is gone.
  10. Gutted dude, How many km had it done?
  11. I scored a drawing of a 1uz sump. Who do i have to email to get it listed hur?

    Martyns AE86

They sap power from the engine. But in terms of cost effectiveness they were ideal, and Martyn made the filter mounts out of carbon fiber. A few things were picked to keep costs down as Martyn has just started a family. So car running took priority vs Car looking sweet. But yes this car is super SUPER clean. In all honesty it is brand new. Every thing is brand new. (or at least referbished) Everything has new nolethane bushes in it, caster arms are T3, its just an awesome car to work on except for the overwhelming fear you could scratch or dent it.

    Martyns AE86

And then a wild AE86 appeared. She went home today, but it wont be the last time i will work on it. Still have some touch up jobs to work through with Martyn, but she purs like a kitten at the moment. Real happy with how everything has turned out (regardless of the headaches) She lives again, just need to get the bonnet from his old mans haha
  15. I dont like chase parts, they are overpriced for everything flanges/mufflers/pipe. Autobend and Tube Bending NZ ltd are my new favourite places to shop. I like the idea of a silent car. If there is minimal power loss, whats the disadvantage of having a silent weapon? If only they could make silent skidding tires, then you could have a ninja manji car.
  16. The steering boxes in these are a pain. V8 head gets real close, the factory 1uz crown actually puts a twist on the engine so it leans to the passengers side so it clears the box. Interesting about the w50 output shaft being same as a w55, learn something new everyday. I hate the inlet manifolds on jz-ge's with a passion.
  17. Thats not too bad. I just went to the site where we bought our Slave from and the price has gone up $100 NZD! We tried using the slave cylinder setup on the niteparts bell housing, but the slave fowls on one of the major bolts that hold the gearbox and engine together so we scrapped the idea. That itb setup looks the business. Is the escort yours as well?
  18. How much did that cost you? We got a Quartermaster one and it works great, but it was expensive.
  19. Should have put it in context. PLA is more stable to extrude on an unheated plateform and less likely to distort during the manufacture of 3d printed parts then ABS if the printer is more exposed to elemental temperature changes. ABS with pull, lift and warp if not kept at a more uniform temperature in comparison. PLA is more unstable if you were to keep the part on the dashboard of your car, or in your pocket when you went for a run VS ABS For casting I suggested PLA as it has no petrolium base contaminates, so if you were to hot pour into the part it would vapourise with no residue.
  20. Been slowly chipping away at this, but busted my knee over the weekend riding bmx. Sucks as i am on uni holidays and i am struggling to crawl around under cars atm. I did some small stuff and removed the fuel rail, and my car decided to try empty the entire fuel tank through the petrol feed. So i mcgyvered up a hose to feed back into the return. Not before stinking up the garage and getting 10 litres of contaminated fuel into various containers. Not ideal end to the day with.
  21. Saw u drive past the skatepark today doing a zingzing, but no skid?
  22. This post has made me jealous on so many levels. So many awes cars! More photos of the crown!
  23. Se i find this way of thinking so bizzare, and proberly why none of my cars have never been rediculiously slammed. But why spend all ur money making ur car low and not be able to drive it? Low is definately on the cars, but engine is priority.
