  1. Ive been waiting for someone with a wealth of knowledge such as this to say something. I thought the Series 4/5 boxes were to big for the trans tunnels on mx5's and you have to do a bit of chop chop to make it fit. I just did a epic drive out through maraitai, clevedon, beachlands just now. God i love this car. 120kmh through 65k turns. To fast to look at the speedo down the straights. I feel all nasty now like i just cheated on my gf haha.
  2. Odd they guy recons it was leaning out and then dropped a rotor. Obvious it dropped a rotor but i dont think it was leaning out. Person who rebuilt it before also went nuts on the gasket goo and the sump pickup was PACKED full of it. Im surpised it didnt run a bearing.
  3. That rotar is from one of the motors i got yesterday and pulled down. Shat an Apex and threw it around a housing so its stuffed. But it is a shitload of carbon thats for sure. Idea on why? Only got that motor cause i was giving mint end plates and housings but no little stuff (bolts, sump, front plate, eccentric, through bolts, dowels) and got it for $350 so i just grabbed it. Tango MX5 13b tallport with dirty carb and 12a bell on factory gearbox. 160 ~ 170hp, 10,000rpm. be good for a giggle. Inspiration is defiantely http://www.roadsterdrift.com So have i, so i am. Be a long time til the tang goes in. Adjusties, wheels, nolethane, halfcage will all be done before i even think about putting the rota in. Defiantely get out and do a joe manji day or 2 as well.
  4. Picked this up for a track hack/joe manji car. Factory 1800cc LSD Manual Mazdaspeed exhaust BP8 was a shitload more gutless then i was expecting, with a whoping 130hp at the flywheel, and only 2.3hp more then the 1600 im not suprised. Silly car Very tidy body, no rust, mint interior, roll bar, cup holders, alarm, stereo, wof and reg. This is the straightest car i have EVER bought. My daily, RB30E R31 Skyline. I love this thing so bad. Uh-oh not content with just 1 egg beater i got 2. Have sorted enough good parts from the 2 of them to build 1 good motor. not pictured is sumps, through bolts, dowels and all the other small junk no one cares about. Also got a copy of DIY-RE, watched it 3 times over (all 4 hours of it) and will have a crack at building it myself to save myself the gillion dollars people pay for rebuilds. Next on the list is adjusties, nolethanes, wheels, air filter. Drive it, and rape it.
  5. I picked up the mx5 cause the person had just bought an MR2 as well hahaha. Already got some quads, wheels and adjusties for the sucker. Just dont have the car yet.
  6. $3500, roofs fucked though. But the car is in mint condition. One lady owner for 8 years (my mum hahaha). going to throw my 15x8 enkies on there, and slam it on some adjustables i have when i pick it up next week. I could get it now but im still clearing old soarer junk out of my garage.
  7. I just picked up a NA8 for track abuse. Instead of trying to build a car, just rape a factory one instead. 1800cc, LSD, Manual, Mazda speed stainless exhaust, wof, reg, 130,000km. Will post picktures when i pick it up next week.
  8. Havent done a bit of an update in a while, but have done a bit of work. My car has taken a couple of days off while i work on something for my old man. Been busy busy, but making a turbo manifold for my dads GT4 So i started hacking up my manifold to fit my t25 flange, and had a look around and thought F*#$ it. Heres todays results. the collector took my 3 hours just by itself, but its worth it. Still needs a little love but you get the idea. Just clears oil filter. My second steampipe manifold, tig welded boyaa Lonely dummy block ready to come out. Will have radiator support, and sump pickup finished by end of weekend, then off to coromandle for the week, then back to put my engine in and start plumbing it up. Have GZE ecu, injectors, loom so should have it running sooner rather then later...
  9. Whole build is damn sexual. good work
  10. More junk turbo and T25 flange Laser cut T25 flange Free second hand camber plates, need some TLC but they were the right price. Hub spacers, flywheel and pressureplate. couldnt find clutch plate to take photo, hope i do when i go to put the engine in soon :s Need to make sump pickup and then engine will go in and time to do plumbing...
  11. The way an 'engineer' would do it would be to put it in a static chuck on a mill bed, clock up the outside dia and the inside spigot hole so you have it central to within 0.01mm then to plot the points out in x/y co-ordinates using the readout then drill your holes. No need to use dividers, centre punches, marking blue or any of that old school junk. This is the future man! It really shouldnt take more then an hour, and ud have to be pretty bad at it to get it out by more then 0.1mm (which is proberly a better tolerance then they were made within factory). The more i work on car stuff the more i realise how laxed there tolerances are compared fitting, turning, tool making.
  12. I havent had a car that could get a legit warrent in over 2 years...
  13. Mega super epic. Slipway boys rule.
  14. I just creamed my pants
  15. I wouldnt be concerned about how they would affect the airflow through the runner when you have made an adaptor plate like the one you have. The welds and change in diameter will have more of a negative effect on your airflow then having a small hole drilled into them to feed idle air pressure in. A bypass valve is the nicest option. When fitting up a 3s in a rwd corona, i made vincent (dude from garagedori) run his bypass valve on his setup and it ran shitloads better then when he was trying to get it to run on a cracked butterfly. Flipside is i ran my 4age in my AE85 with no bypass and it cracked open with a lot of sucess. Made it easy as hell to do timing and tune cause of the easily adjustable idle. Really its up to you, ive had quite a bit of sucess with both setups.
  16. Sicko, if you lived closer id offer to wire it up for you on the cheap awe, but im lazy. haha Going to be a sexual car when its done. You upgrading the brakes??
  17. Sadly as with all things, i saved the best welds for last Was sick today, so decided to finish my sump, grind up the edges to make them look nice and internally weld the sump pan to the rest of it. Might internally weld the entire sump for that extra oil resistant protection. PHOTOGRAPHS!! Next time i will tig it. Missed out on a tig welder on trademe too. Was sorting funds to buy it and SNAP someone hit buynow from under me Ah well, needed the money for a turbo anyways.
  18. All black wheels for the win. The white writing the tires makes it look a bit more pro and a lot less "matt black and desprung brah"

    Best LSD diff oil

+1 The only reason my k50 was still alive in my old trueno
  20. Sump time, and alternator bracket. Sump welding Main sump with baffles, oooooo Alternator bracket/engine mount the beast. You wouldnt know it by looking at it, but a dummy block/head and gearbox are still in this thing... Plans now to linish down the main sump bowel and outsides of the main section, weld the bowel to the sides, leak test, turn up some internally threaded section and weld for sump plug and oil return for turbo.
  21. Done a boss kit from a 165 celica to a 1988 crown. They all seem to have the same spline.
  22. Haha Accord, yea we deal with them a fair amount doing smaller run jobs. The crown is long gone, now a shitty ass laurel sits in its place. And soon with some luck maybe camels rusty celica. I wont be in for the next 3 weeks as ill be on course for my apprenticeship (wooo MIT), but if you see the laurel drop in. Who do you work for?
  23. Special sauce Rear Sump My Design before some final mods Diff Jesus Juice Assembled long block. Abuse me
  24. Badass car man. My MTEU suffered a horrible horrible death. I love those Z10's. Cant wait to drive one haha
  25. I need some of the 4 pots to test fit, but reckon I'll have sussed a way that means no disc over front of the hub, no spacer for caliper. Share this info when you do
