  1. Love the airbagged wheelbarrow - saw a slammed shopping trolley the other day too.
  2. Hers a vid, Getting sum mean D1, look for the rubber marks And every1 rolling out at the start http://www.youtube.com/user/brocky411#p ... t0icP62xZA Lasted around 25 laps on the saturday of blossom metting 2010 and was blisteringly quick ina straight line, no traction out of low speed corners, then the damn this siezed - i knew i should have stopped and checked the plugs - was only slight nip up and had almost detonated a hole though piston #2. after taking heads and barrells off on sat night found other barrell was cracked in two places umong other things. have spare barrells but now on hunt for another engine as a standard one will be more reliable. and the ports on it have been opened up soo much the walls are paper thin. there was around 30 vintage karts for the lunchtime display for both sat and sunday somecoming as far as chch. Haad an absolute ball and will keep hold of this as people were trying to buy it all week end as they new or new of the kart and original owner. Such a variety of Karts 2 with some running McCullocks or 2 on some karts with one or more (up to 3) carbies on each motor (the thing they got up to in the day). Dads McCullock went strong and even Brendan (Mint16) had a run on sunday and is now trying to find one of his own ex race vintage karts. Will put up more vids as i get them loaded up. Heres Brendan McEwan (mint16 on datsun forum) in dads kart From 2010
  3. I raced Karts in Hawkes Bay for 9 years from when i was 9 - won 5 Hawkes Bay titles = numerous other events etc. We then sold up and i brought a TE71 corolla which we caged, race seats harnesses etc and used at the Car club for 3 years. After becoming a courier driver and buying a house the courier thing basically made me broke and had to sell up. Then brought into this, Yet another project - have co owned this beast for about 6 years - was going well until someone blew the bottom end. just getting the wiring and such sorted then we are go again. Was used in the 80's as a Super car Build for going fast at circuits such as Pukekoe and Manfield. Was told it used to do over 230kph - by old driver. Is quite rare now days being twin cylinder - most are single - Is a Yamaha 250cc 2 stroke. Heres a few things about it Thought id upload all my projects - this post is from a while ago - to all you old school rollers out there Is a Yamaha 250cc 2 stroke. 5 speed box Disc Brakes all round Side pod is actually the fuel tank - Scary if you had someone drill you in the side :fire: Seating position is on a queer angle due to engine width. Used to run Methanol -but the carbs were obviously to big and we put 250cc yamy carbs on. Fuel pump looks like a datto one and works of a cam on the rear axle - IE if your not moving you'll run outta gas. Ive drivin it a couple of times - trys to lift front wheels off the ground and three wheels (front off the deck) round most corners on a sprint circut. Ill update this wheel ive got it running and take some vids
  4. Def angled guards for win - wof guy may not throw you out but the cops will on your "tyre being outside the guard" - albeit the lower half of the tyre. Guards look like they will sit lower if angled too?? Decent effort for time allowed though.
  5. Bit of an update - finished the steel work - Hamish is coming back either tomorrow or during the week to sand back the surface filler and blow some paint on. So stoked with how its coming up. Bit of a tip out back atm - wrecked out a 260c sedan and a z32 300ZX - starting to dislike stripping cars and liking getting rusty / unloved ones and putting them back on the road.
  6. Soo - i got this to selling point but the WOF ran out and due to the roof rust couldnt get another one, and a few people were turning away due to the Automagicalness of awesome (will hopefully convert to manual if $$$ allow Heres how it was a couple of weeks ago I then decided to hit the rust as it didnt look too bad from the outside - 2 patches in the roof and one in the front guard - then she be rust free again - as this one doesnt have ant of the usual boot rust that many a sunny has. Started cutting - OH SHHH****T The top part is the outer skin and the lower one is the inner - talk about the iceberg effect. So the decision was made to fix it - id rather see this go to someone knowing that its genuinely rust free - dont want all that on the conscience etc and it means someone will get a good base to work with when it goes (too many projects yet again. Almost done on this side - really big ups to Hamish Collison for getting stuck in, in the sub zero wind chill on sunday - you the man. Is also doing a stellar job on this so far as i would know where to start. Hopefully will be finished next weekend - ive got a colour match can etc. Also got all the manifold gaskets done - typical a series blown out the exhaust side. 7. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34453 Aint it funny lisas owned a few datsuns now but still doesnt drive - ( thats my bad - def learning in this one) Picked her up out of the buy sell - is in very good nick and doesnt have the rust in the usual places that ive had on sunny's. Only has a little in the bottom of the front guards and in the rear roof / pillar area. A12 auto so shes the big block - been doing a bit of ratchet shifting on the auto for good launches from the lights :burnout: :burnout: So far Ive done the Leads, Plugs, Coolant Flush etc, and a new oil pressure switch cos it was leaking (pretty sure most do) Runs really well - next mish is to lower it and im doing something a little different with the standard wheels. (no widening this time) Tried my 120y wheels on but got the mad rubs Paint is ok havent done the big cut and polish yet. little crazy crack on the LR guard and the bonnet is super faded - need someone that keen to maybe spray bomb the bonnet with the www.NZDATSUN.com logo or similar. 8. Heres dads viva - pretty modifies for the early ninety's - ive gotta get more info on this thing but i know it was 12a and had some kind of double shock setup in the back and still transverse leaf in front.
  9. Mint score dude - the hamner cruise is in august i think - usually get around 15 to twenty cars and mostly full car loads - hit it to hanmer hot pools and stay overnight and get OTP - NZDATSUN's 2nd largest cruise / meet If you can afford it aswell - Labour weekend is the Akaroa Cruise ( late october )- NZDatsun Nationals - 50 cars the last 2 years - hoping more this year, also trying to incorporate a trackday among other little events over the weekend (old school nats as example). Hanmer cruise has some nice roads and a couple of good stops along the way.
  10. Ive copied most of it from the Datsun site - will hopefully make regular updated from now on.
  11. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=34378 Didnt realize i hadnt put this up after all these years - have owned since i was 16
  12. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34379 This is my legendary 1200 (well in Hawkes Bay anyway) - Brendan swears i should never hav pulled it off the road but here is a few pics..... This is when i first got the car back in 2001 - (Just brought as a run about as my corolla in the backround was evolving into a rally car. I brought it purely as a run around as i knew nothing of the DATSUN brand back then - when i first came across it at a mates place (when he said he had a car for sale) i thought it was an Escort (shame on my Undies). He had stated to paint strip it and had had big plans tobuild a race car out of it ( lucky i saved it ) Another one of my freinds (not from same group) had said he wanted one - and i super pissed him off when i rolled up in this one afternoon (especially when he found out how much i payed for it) Also got 1st mod - mag wheels (off the corolla) Originally picked it up for $200 Reg and Wof It was then down to my good mate Wayno's place to be panel beated and painted. (anyone notice dads KE25 Hubbies) A bit of paint and another set of wheels and Hey presto Daily 1200 She even went to the snow in those early years - bit of snow drift. (up the Taupo Road) Gotta love the Drag Fitment - 155's front and 175's rear. Another set of wheels a lowering job and foward to 2003 (met brendan around this time and he fell in love with this car - was the baddest dato in HB ahaha) A few Cool pics from up Te Mata Peak Havelock North Even used it in a Car Club Motokhana Smoke is from exhaust - was getting tired by now - too mch thrashing, it just wouldnt die. Was actually sideways thou. Forward to 2006-now - Car is stripped/ semi put back together - rolling shell state. Loading all parts for it, into it ready for next year - South Island here we come. You'll also notice blue panels but ill save that story for tomorrow. This is where the blue panels came from - brought as daily so we could rebuild orange but then datsun bug hit and we brought tthe Y aswell. As you can see it must have had a mega sound system - all fibreglassed in - but hadnt ben on the road in the last 10 years - or so the ownership papers said ( suspect plate swap as you do ). We got the rear fixed up with new parcel tray etc anddrove it for around 2 years. Decided to fix "a few rustspot" and Hello Jim. There were no inner or outer sills - all fibreglassed up - with those dinky flare things on them. The floor in pasengers side was barely connected to the car - also fibreglassed and masses of underseal. I put a screwdriver through the bottom of the rear guard while taking back the bog and about 2 litres of rusty looking water pissed out. The bottom of the two rear guards were non existent. The front guards were bogged on at the bottom. And lots more where that came form. So decided to wreck it then and there - panel beater had seen nthing like it (mate still has shell so will take some picks for you guys (hes using roof and plates) I would love to find the guys who owned it in Auckland before the guy i brought it off - they used a trailer load of bog and fibreglass to construct a rolling death trap (1200's are bad enuf without rust). So anyway thats the story of the blue Panels on Orange - the glass is al deluxe (factory tint) and the doors are hadit but complete and bolted on so i can load Orange up for South Island. Bit of an update... 2009 Currrently wrecking an S13 out as i got it cheap - towwed it home from waipuk - about half our away with the mighty 720 Chur CHur here was the 1200 last night nothing really goin on..... then bam....... CA18det conversion done - is it ok to use sump + engine crossmember as mounts with 1x stretchy tie hahahaha. They are a way tighter fit than the y - on the burbs had to jump up and down on the engine to get it down enuf to get the bonnet on as i still had the box on it too - chur ready for when it goes into the container aye guys. All good, cleaned all the S13 crap off it - is pretty sacked considering theres no blocks in the back. Currently ripping all stuff from inside - taping windows on - and restacking stuff inside for max parts storage in car. Man no update since 2009 - what are you doing Brocky. Well after a long stint of mucking around with other projects including two Toyota MK2 Grande's, a 310 Sunny and multiple derby cars + having done nothing on this since we moved to CHCH its time for all systems go on the 1200. Our three weeks in the USA taught me a couple of things A - everything is cheaper in the States B - I need to get my A into G on this build. So... The CA is out an up on TM in parts - decided that a CA was to easy {well not easy just want to be different and the CA wasnt as popular as it is now}. Enter one DR30 FJ20ET and short 5 Speed. I finally decided on the FJ for a number of reasons...... short gearbox (shifter is way further foward than a CA one) = shifter almost in original spot. something different (seen a couple in aussie done) FJ's are tough as old nails FJ's still have a good range of aftermarket bits ie Forged Pistons oh and its an FJ !!! :burnout: I also wanted coil overs all round so i got myself a set of these S13 ones - they are 16 way adjustable shock with adjustable spring preload and seperate height adjust. Also come with pillow ball mounts and front camber plates. Ill be running shortened S13 control arms and 4 or five stud hubs depending on wheel choice. I chose this brand as i didnt want anything too fancy (can get replacements easy) and the shocks dont have to be super hard as i want it to ride well - if need be can get Tein coils through work to suit if its too hard / soft. because its going to have an FJ ill also be needing one of these soon too (makes everything fully adjustable and i don't run into the problems i've had with the 120Y) Undecided on Diff as yet - Hilux or Falcon. Got a couple of things left to do on other cars then gonna start at the front and work my way back :dance2: Hopefully will be looking something like this engine bay soon Little bit of an update.... 2011 Engine out again - Thanks Earthquake - cross member in with s13 lower arms and 4 stud hubs. Got the coil overs in just had to lick up the 3 stud holes with the drill (larger stud) and they are in too. The s13 arms are way to long - would be around 4 degrees neg camber and could only run high positive offset wheels ie +38 like the skyline wheels i used for a mock up, so next thing is to chop up, rose joint, make them fully adjustable and work out what to do for castor arms. Tyre rubbing dude to no disks on hubs Update 2012 Sold first FJ have another one now - this is pretty much as it sits - got some 280mm rotors and hopefully will have some calipers to suit soon - wheels are flat mates. Have started cutting firewall to suit engine
  13. Damn it just had a look - funny little set up - transverse leaf but still double a arm to control everything - weird. "jus flip da leaves cuz" Its pretty low anyway so will probably just run it standy with new shocks etc - sick of driving the y in chch - too stiff. Will try update all the other pimp rides i've collected soon. Datsuns are getting expensive so i thought id give zee Germans cars a go.
  14. Heres a couple of pics from home on the weekend - havent done anything yet. Funny story - got an email from the original owner today saying that when the truckie drove it out the drive the mufler fell off in the driveway. She asked if i wanted it sent buy i replied "if it rusted off - probably not work sticking back on. (explains the exhaust hanging down)
  15. Slam should be easy - blocks in the rear and cuttie front (double a arm like) - funny thou coz the mudflaps are already very close to the ground. Has all the old ownership papers etc aswell as a owners manual and workshop manual - which will be handy as ive never worked on anything like this yet. Do we know if this is German built or british??? Def kep the roofrack and get a small surfboard i think go all 70's on it. Ive got a 175/70r12 so might get one more and widen the rears up 2 inches and just leave the fronts standard with 155/80r12 as they will be close in diameter. Will go in and see the guys at white wall tyres too - i think a 1-1.5inch white wall on them. Ive got the sunny to finish atm and then a 330 260c sedan to do rust in and get that gone too - then will start work on this. ill try wash it tomorrow and get some more pics.
  16. Yea thats what i was thinking - pretty much everything is there - gotta find some taillights and front parks coz the old guy just slapped some trailer lights in the front as indicators.
  17. Discussion..... viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34293&p=860666#p860666 Hi Guys - havent really been on here much lately so will have to up date all the other rides and projects too.... This was one of those spur of the moment things as ive always loved HA vivas since dad had a 12a rotary powered race car ages ago (will upload pics of that too) this looks pretty similar and i couldnt help get in on this thing - it just reminded me too much of Olliver (top gear fame) and the fact its just a cool looking wagon. Plans are just to keep it for now - heaps of other projects on the go - i dont no weather or not to rat it up or go original - ive put a couple of pics of wat it should look like down the bottom - should be a sweet little wagon when i get it back on the road. Currently trying to find out all the info on it and specs - apparently is only 40hp and 700kg Ill put more info and photos up after i take some pics over the week as it only just got here today. I borrowed a couple of pics from the opel site - hope you guys dont mind and thanks. This is what it should look like but maybe something like this
  18. Thats all good - i think the thread is for all snow with car pics - young and old
  19. Hey dude as per answer datsun site - BNT - just ask them to look for 330 or 230 pretty sure they were the same
  20. Sunny at work Tufdat at home - cut a few drifts round the driveway on the ice -
  21. This thing is so sweet - i wanted that cedric in hawkes bay thats been on TM lately but been told its a bit rough. So cool you want to keep it original as possible - that steering wheel is pretty pimp. Let me know if you want to try some of those disk brake front parts from the 260c
  22. I knew of one, but was too slow getting to it and has since found the crushers - real gay cos it had good guards and bonnet. Ill keep an ear out for you though cos im after bits for my 240c wagon. Sweet looking car dude - you gotta love how lux and cruizy they are though
  23. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 024887.htm Sold - glad its going to good home -
