  1. I got a bit of a bargain on some brown carpet for me Dunnydoor. On arrival today, it appears to be far lighter than the brown I imagined it would be so I have 2 questions... My first question to all you number 8 fencing wire fiends is, has anyone dyed their carpet before and was it successful? My second question, do you know anyone in NZ who does vinyl dye in custom tinted colour? I know I can get it from some custom paint outfits in Aussie, but shipping aerosols/paint is probably going to be a problem without expensive AF Hazardous Goods shipping. (I said AEROSOLS, you filthy bugger) I know I can get the vinyl dye spray bombs from Dupli-color/VHT but they don't appear to make any of the darker brown shades. Thanks in advance. PS - I have used the Vinyl Dye stuff before and it did a great job on some doorcards, so I am confident the product is good, just not sure how it goes on carpets.
  2. I measure mine with the head gasket off, so if I can see a thin area of plasticine when I pull the head off then I know its going to be fucking close, but I still have the thickness of the head gasket clearance. If I can see through the plasticine, I call it a problem. Not very scientific but hasn't failed me yet.
  3. Just think when it was last on the road, some Oldschoolers didn't even have kids, now they have 2 or 3...
  4. Shit yeah, and to think I recently bought a full set of seats cos I forgot I had those ones... LoL Super keen.
  5. Oh shit, I forgot about those. I should come over and take it all. Probably could do with a few. Whats over there?
  6. I really don't want to lose, and I really don't want to win just as much.
  7. First one to Wagnats with their car gets a handjob from the other. Bizzo's 323 vs my Commy
  8. Legal beagle and classic car rego, lets GOOOOOOO OH SHIT YES
  9. I know, right. You can clearly see in the picture I took yesterday that the tyres are not flat at the bottom.
  10. Its great, still a bit heavier than I would like with my weak ass arms but about 3.04 times better than it was. I think as the rack wears in and the balljoints and tierod ends bed in, it will get much better. I parked it back in the carport just before and it was so much easier than yesterday when you watched me struggle. LeL The wheel alignment guy said it had low caster on one side and about the right amount on the other, so he has dialled in more caster on one side, which I did not expect, and it had 2.5 degrees of camber on both sides which he pulled back to 1.5 per side. The toe was also out miles to start with, but I kinda knew that would be the case. But believe it or not, I think the big culprit was the tyre pressures, they were set as 10psi... Even the wheel alignment guy was surprised because they looked fully inflated. (I now don't trust the gauge at the workshop) Go figure..
  11. No worries @Flash. FYI, the wheel has a brilliant "feel" under your hand when driving so 10/10 for that, but 3/10 for installation ease, it is a CUNT of a thing to install, the wheel bosses have 2 PCD's and you have to bolt up the steering wheel, the steel ring that retains the horn button and the polished alloy cover all together using tiny pan head bolts, all while making sure it is into the right set of holes, you'll need to dismantle it all to realign the steering wheel (can't just pop out the horn centre to access the centre nut) so make sure you have all the straight ahead position set up the first time you install it so you don't have to install it twice. Also I just got it back from the alignment shop, it drives like a freaking dream now, and I calibrated the speedo on the way home so it is not telling me lies any more. Next step, WoF
  12. Not sure what you mean by the 90 degree fitting on the carb. Got a link? Also Joe said the same thing to me earlier today so yes I do now plan to replace the glass filter. I have it fitted for now just to keep an eye on the fuel, the tank has been 10% full for 7 years and who knows how much surface rust formed on the top of the tank. I have a big fuel injection type fuel filter at the back of the car before the fuel pump but I still want to see if any crap is getting through from the tank and the glass filter is the easiest way to watch. After I've jammed a couple of tanks of fuel through I'll ditch the glass filter and replace it with an anti return valve.
  13. I got it from VPW in Aussie - https://www.vpw.com.au/parts/SAA-SW704PSW
  14. It was a big day today... Still got a bit to do but like they say, good things take time. Thanks again to the amazing and beautiful souls @Seedy Al and @Goat for their hard work while I stood there and took photos. Without them and their assistance, I would have struggled to get it over the line. Oh yeah, it may have driven under its own power and I drove it across town to it at home for the first time in 7 years...
  15. I'm putting the Chris into Energy Polarizing Crystals...
  16. Yeah, one of my must haves when I specced the cam with @BobbyBreeze was a fairly ropey idle. Also the decent bump in compression helps that along nicely.
  17. Some progress is a happening... Fingers crossed I can pick it up in the next few days and get it home to finish putting enough in to fire it up. Discuss here
  18. If a safety related system and its not listed in the threshold, then technically it requires cert. But people don't normally install an residual pressure valve on a completely stock good condition set of brakes, or the vehicle would come with one from the factory. Most often they are fitted to fix a problem that presents itself as a result of a modification to the braking system and its that modification that would usually kick it into requiring cert.
