    Escort drums

also give the centre bore a good wack, not the drum itself if that makes any sense, always works a treat to break the rust if they havent been off in a while.
  2. cheers still tryin to find out exactly what they are. seen a place up north that was making some nice mags in petrolhead magazine but cant remember the website. will have a look.
  3. havent got round to it yet been a bit busy at work at the moment. hopefully next weekend maybe.
  4. got pic? sounds like a screened cable to stop transient voltages/induction effecting the signal to your ecu. are you extending it to run around/near other wires? if so id keep it screened.
  5. so you dont have one now? should be one on ya fuel rail so remove that put an external on and use its vacuum line.
  6. yeah thats a bit randomn. run a screened coax from the knock sensor back to the ecu. and if you dont decide to run one your ecu may slip into limp mode? if it has one? or you will have to find an appropriate sized resistor to bypass it maybe, not to sure how links work.
  7. i like what your thinkin with this, good work.
  8. looking good. maybe same as mk1? not that modern mk2 metric shit
  9. sounds easy in theory probably be big wof check big list of shit to do ill go in preparing for the worst and hopefully be suprised by a short list of shit to do. its taken a while but should hopefully be on the road in a couple of months all things goin to plan.
  10. finally got round to makin some bumper mounts for the 1/4 bumpers i made. was a bit tricky gettin the bends right but got there in the end. also got a 12" fan mounted, had to make some new radiator mounts for it. got it switched off a 82-87deg switch so will see how this goes for a start. made some pedal rubbers. just puttin some small finishing touches on her before a warrant check.
  11. so sometimes it maintains boost or sometimes it doesnt? not something simple like a vacuum/boost line to the wastegate actuator or a sticky actuator?
  12. Shit weather down here today so lit the fire and did a bit in the garage. got a new mirror still in original box. cheers trade me. made a tray up for the battery and got that all mounted as well. another score off trade me was this hks evc 4 boost controller. only needed a loom made for it which i did yesterday. so the list of thingd to do is gettin a little less. might chuck an electric fan on it, and am also on the look out for some pedal rubbers if anyone has any
  13. all good. being turbo'd it wont have high top pistons then. check on the cam belt to see if there is three marks, two that line up with indents on the cams and one for the crank possibly? nissans like that but not sure on mazdas.
  14. that would be my worst nightmare bad luck mate, time to whip the head off for a look i guess. any reason why it did it?
  15. good to hear. little leads = little current. if the old ones are copper strip them and take them to the scrappy
  16. mostly covered by others but what size jumper leads are ya using. if its not ya starter solenoid sounds like the current draws to big for the conductor size.
  17. alloy radiator will be half the weight of a copper one, but if the water is heavy in trace elements there is the chance of electolysis or some shit from memory. google will clarify it better than my memory.
  18. well done on gettin it goin had the same issues with my engine after it had been sitttin for so long, had the cambelt off and on bout three times before it stopped leakin water and oil all part of the fun that is frustration.
  19. got my hilux cables shortend and made an adapter so the escort lever would take the two cables and give me plenty for adjustment. hand brake works good = win. also changed the top mounts to solid mount pillow balls, just had to make some bushes on the lathe at work to adapt them to the escort strut. almost like adding power steering to the old girl. have also done a few other things but will post those updates when i get round to taking some more pics
  20. yep mines the same.no servo means no travel.
  21. finally finished the exhaust today and got it in place, just needs a couple of hangers at the rear and bit cut out of the rear panel for the muffler. all good. also finally got my hand brake cables today so will press on with that next week. will have to try out the new exhaust round the neighbourhood me thinks
  22. cheers. hopefully get a bit more done sson, not too much left to do before its ready for the road, got a hand brake cable lined up but hes just so fuckin slow at gettin parts off the wrecks, wouldnt wait so long but hes cheap, and im on a cheap budget
  23. after gettin the hilux back on the road its now time to get the escort back on track. Done some small things, replaced the boots on the TCA's and the tie rod ends, started makin the bumper irons etc. and after gettin some rather large quotes to make an exhaust i thought f!#k it,ill make my own. so went and got some tube, bends and a flexi, and cut up my old 63mm exhaust off my old evo for a resonator and a muffler first was the dump pipe, bit of pissin around but got it pretty spot on, will wrapit in heat wrap to stop it goin to close to things in the engine bay, probably not a necessity but will do anyway. and got the rest made up to the diff, so just got to make that up,mount the muffler, the hangers, andget some gaskets. i can see why some notch the floor for 3" exhausts, not much room!
  24. fuels gettin to the carb but is fuel gettin to the plugs. as said is your timing good? not 180 out. my old corolla wouldnt start unless the aircleaner was put back on the carb.
