  1. What clutch cable works?/have you used? Have got what is supposed to be a mk2 escort cable which is really tight/cant see to working, and a sierra cable which has no room for any adjustment on it/the linkages at the pedal box end dont quite work. What should i look at next cortina? The esky used to be auto so kind of driving blind and not to sure where to look next. Anyone got some pics of how they linked theres into the pedalbox? Any advice appreciated. Cheers Chris
  2. where are they located? Are they like escort ones that just get held in by the U bolts above the diff? Mabie go on a pick a part mission and look for some similar mounted ones to use/chop?
  3. haha yeah you did! Been using a screwdriver to pop bonnet for past month because i cant work out how it goes back together
  4. Hey ya Would you be able to zoom into the original photo on this part Cant work out how that tiny clip on the end works. This pic might be enough help alone. Its one of them simple little fiddly bits i cant work out. Cheers man. Chris
  5. can you just chop them if your getting a cert?

  8. Probably isn't anything you can do about it if its hitting them by alot, sounds like you need some wheels with the correct offset, what are the wheels off?
  9. Am board so though i would do myself a 2 do list; Windows Installed Mount seats Pedal box Accelerator cable, Speedo cable, brake & Clutch Weld new steel around gear stick and install shroud & Carpet Get Bonnet release working properly, cant work out how the thing goes back together anyone got any advice? New Coil Wire in everything properly. Carb Air filter (K&N?) Bonnet & grill re fitted Springs sorted (as there is no travel in them as they are, suggestions?) Return fuel line (unsure if we need this yet or not) Alternator & bracket Radiator fan and boot popper wired into switches Exhaust (eek an expensive item :S) Brake booster and callipers installed Battery - wire terminals Paint still needs a proper cut and polish Driveshaft loop Door lock installed on driver’s door (picked up set of 3 similar to solex) New heater coil if i ever find one. Then the small matter of getting a cert Has turned out to be quite a decent list and im sure I have missed out more than a few things. I had better get a move on then C
  10. SHES ALIVE! ... and rowdy (no exhaust) True story, Gaz and I dedicated Sunday to working on the car and got the engine running. Bizzo brought around my springs that where in his mk2 esky the night before which i only semi remember, anyways first job of the day was to chuck them in....back to being lowered. Will need to do a little more work to get some travel in the shocks but for now at least she sits a little lower. Second was to switch the engine mounts sides as one is shorter than the other and we needed more room for the extractors, once this was done the extractors fitted perfectly was stocked about that they look to have been quite well made also. New water pump, leads, Dizzy, sparkplugs and belts. Picking up a new coil tomorrow, and windows are getting installed sometime this week hopefully. Fuel line & filter installed, Gaz dismantled the carb and gave it a look over, manifold fitted. Oh so luckily came across a mk2 escort at pick a part with an auto driveshaft in it which fits perfectly, was stocked about that!, so that’s fitted and ready to go. Still a fair bit to do! Am fully motivated now though so shouldn't be to far away to being drivable.
  11. WOW talk about fast progress, awsome job mate looks mint so far. Can't wait to see this project done keep the updates coming . Chris
  12. Is yours a two piece Driveshaft? What year/model escort is it out of? Hmm if you have a different driveshaft from most auto Eskys i wonder if your auto mount will still work with the T9? The Gbox mount apears to line up a ok. Gaz and I are going to sus out another auto one tonite fingers crossed its whats where after
  13. Those are the same guards i used. How do you plan to fix them? They are quite a thin fiberglass if you are using them as bolt ons might be an idea to thinken the fiberglass would also help them retain there required shape against the body. They arnt the easyest things to install tidily, i used big (huge) head rivets and that held them down strong as
  14. Lol's so true! Van looks like a mean little engine transporter
  15. Is yours a two piece Driveshaft? What year/model escort is it out of?
  16. Yeah bro many a moons ago! Shit i must of never told u presumed i had, was way ages ago, dono what the fuck they are going to do with it!
  17. Wouldn't suprise me the brake disks are way undersised from other standard eskys too so possably because its a late model auto esky it has some smaller running gear all round? Wonder what the diff ratio is :S
  18. Chur boe, Will probably be a daily too so should see it around Welly when it is going.
  19. Yup thats the one cheers Yoga Grandmaster thats exactly what i ment, sometimes/most the time my england comes out all go go ga ga
  20. Oh hey Nick. Hows Canada Na still need to do pedal box. Well where not to sure yet the spline bit from the auto is alot smaler so we are looking for one of a hilman hunter as gaz thinks one of them may fit / get the shaft shortened from that. Uncle jake recons we may even be able to just shorten it ourself aslong as we set it up right. Just picked up the Gbox mounts from home so might give that a go this avo. Still heaps to do. :S Chris
  21. The engine is now in, with the modified sump and pickup all hunk e dory. Cheers gaz for all the help. have some extractors on the way . Painted the engine black. And yeah just heaps of little things to do now; Dizzy (as it used to be electronic), new water pump, full exaust, drive shaft, mount seats, install windows, wiring, fuel line, gearstick area, pedal box/cluch and accelerator cble, door lock (ugly solex prob), carb, instal AP calipers and so on, so a fair bit to so still Had the usual helpers/troublemakers on hand Extractors that that should be on there way soon Cutting/welding new whole for box handbreak looks a bit dodgy what fire
  22. Found a new project! Once the escort is going i want to have a go at building one of these, paint it the same colour similar mags ect with BBQ and fridge so keeping an eye out for a mk1 to chop in half. Will be good for summer cruzes and a little extra storage. Next project will also be a 2door mk1 buble arch esky with some petrol guzling engine. Anyways still have a fair bit to be done on this current project before i get onto either of these projects. Will get this one out of the way first and see how motivated i am buy then
  23. Some National Geographic chick arived to give a hand Engine removed from sierra. Choped a whole in sump and have since welded in a new piece of steel also had to lengthen the oil pickup So next job is to paint engine slap the pickup and sump back on and lift engine into body
