yeah no more lifting the car over the engine... given how often you're pulling your engine out, I'm surprised you haven't done this...
-
continuing to do things in the wrong order... got sick of the tight confines of the engine bay, so took a leaf out of 63Ragtop's book and broke out my spot weld drill (and Dremel) and made the rear apron removable. Also uncovered a bunch of rust I'll have to tidy up... In hind sight this should have been the first modification I ever made to this car...

is that a Taipan?

http://www.weberperformance.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=59_276_277&products_id=1212 boost referenced by pass style... damn I might have to weld another fitting on my already powder coated tubing )-: might try with a tee first anyway...

I would like a sanity check on my turbo plumbing. Waste gate is plumbed to vacuum port on the carb Fuel Pressure Regulator is plumbed into the intake, just after the tee BOV, Boost Guage & Distrubutor (CB Magnaspark II) are plumbed in to a CB vacuum reference kit ( http://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/2040.htm ) pic of messy engine for reference

I'll see how you're placed when I have sourced a subi gearbox for mocking up

fingers crossed I'd only need 30 mins or so to get the measurements I'm after... when are you pulling the body?

if that beetle winds up as a bare pan at some point I wouldnt mind popping down to mock up a non-vw gear box I'm considering using on it one day... (or to help remove the body if you need a hand)

Well it's mobile again... Since I last drove it it has been converted to IRS, fitted a new gearbox, a new return fuel system, disk brakes on the front, bigger drums on the back a sway bar, special custom camber link pin bushes, and a new exhaust system. still not finished, still have a fuel leak to sort out, which is proving trick as it seems to only occur under boost. However the new box seems a lot stouter than the old and has survived a couple of runs under boost so far. Also sits higher in the back than I want, either have to cut the current spring plates or sort some dropped IRS plates...

today I found a piece of my very first VW for sale... this is the bonnet off my old Baja Bug, I havent seen it for over 20 years. One day I forgot to clip it down, and while heading along the nor-western, it flipped up into the wind screen and tore one of the hinges out. I replaced it with a spare I had, and can't remember how I disposed of it... The hinge is still broken and you can see remnants of the duct tape I used as a temporary get home repair... I nearly purchased it, but $5 seemed a little steep... (posted in this thread, as it's kind of the genesis of this project)
