    Door stuck

If its not rust, Is it central locking as the actuator may not be going full movement. If this is the case then you may have to try and force the unlock mechanism as it may only need another couple of mm to open? Depending on what sort of locking it is depends how easy this is to do, this is what I had to do for one of my cars to get the door fully open so i could get the door card off to replace it, it took several minutes and pulling the button while someone else locked unlocked the via the key.
  2. This morning after I scraped all my windows and the thaw had started...
  3. Thats one awesome photo of the trees mate... looks like somewhere in the Alps not in Christchurch.
  4. So where are they.... anyone with some oldschool snow pics from CHCH today?
  5. sorry, sounds great but i'm probably busy for the rest of the winter
  6. Holden inline 6 simple as... Firing order 1-5-3-6-2-4 get #1 rocking (in /out both open at centre of action) then do the opposite in/out (#6) rock 5 do 2 rock 3 do 4 rock 6 do 1 rock 2 do 5 rock 4 do 3
  7. I am waiting to hear if the heads come back from crack testing, I asked the question "will this improve these heads much?"t o Dave who is doing these heads and his answer was "Oh yea by a lot" thats what I like. The stock injectors will be the go at first and I will map the engine with these with both stock fuel rail pressure and again with higher pressure so next on the list is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator which I so happen to have sitting on my shelf in the garage from my EFI setup off my 202 If I find the stockies wanting then I will shop around although I might have to find the ones I bought a while back for another project which I think were a little bigger.
  8. Yea do that, and have a look at the Busted Knuckle Garage. Not much to see for a couple-3 weeks until I get the heads back. Hey cletus, hopefully I am not going to push the injection manifold past its limits, should be good for 400hp and I reckon my revised want is 360hp or 270kW, this is still 100kW over standard and wouldn't stress this engine much at all I reckon. Once this is done then back to the Chevette and building up a turbo holden 6 for it.
  9. Ok so I have accumulated a few parts for my transformation and have started pulling the engine apart. The power parts Heads are coming off to get ported, valves and springs upgraded. Going from 65mm throttle body to 70mm, standard Holden injection inlet is 70mm but they reduced it to 65mm in the throttle body Roller rockers are to come Street/race cam 3000rpm-6500rpm to match the head work Cold air box I now have a Realtime ECU logger/writer using the factory ECU so its plug in and go: It controls: :VE (FUEL) TABLES :SPARK ADVANCE MAPS HI AND LO OCTANE :REV LIMITER :COOLING FAN TEMPS :IDLE SPEEDS :AIR/FUEL RATIOS :DIFF RATIO CHANGES
  10. Dam that was a non-event... I had my house being modified so I was out too.
  11. Something tells me an rx7 wouldn't quite fit the theme heh... Its not really about speed but more about consistency and the fun of competing and showing that OS also has Musclecars or non Japanese OS cars. But yea anyone with a car that fits but I must reseerve a place for Bart unless he says he can't make it as we have raced together so often. And then we can see how many we have that are interested.
  12. OK I am getting in early and want 3 team mates to represent the Old School Club for this challenge and I assume it will run as a DYO format so any team will have a show of winning. I am a Past winner of this and would love to get it again. Bart borrow the Valiant? http://www.facebook.com/events/22528716 ... 837312778/ Taken from the above page..... All those keen on drag racing keep the 18th of November free. Alan Ross and myself are organising a Hot Rod and Muscle Car Challenge and show at Ruapuna Drag strip in conjunction with Pegasus Bay Drag Club. This will be done as a club challenge with each club required to enter a team of 4 racers, with prize money of $750 for 1st team and the Kevin McInroe trophy $500 for 2nd and $250 for 3rd. We are also offering two package deals 1st of $150 for the team of 4 to enter or 2nd of $250 which will include the team to race and all members of that clubs entry to watch, all we ask is that those watching bring their cars along as well to put on display in the Hot Rod and Muscle Car show we will be having and there will be prizes for the show. Cars must be street legal(and meet Pegasus Bay Drag Clubs requirements) and this challenge is not open to comp cars, although it will be run in conjunction with one of Pegasus Bay's normal meetings so comp cars, bikes and regular racers will be there. Details and entry forms will be sent to local ChCh clubs over the coming weeks. There will also be onsite entertainment for the kids and coffee & food for the adults. Please note any clubs wishing to enter please direct your enquiries direct to me not to Pegasus Bay. Any businesses wishing to be involved also please direct your enquiries to Alan or myself.
  13. I will be working at getting the Sprinter out of my garage so i can start pulling the SS heads off so they can be opened up a bit. Sinking a few suds along the way and listening to the wireless
  14. This is not quite true as its banned in other countries and as the oil we get is not NZ specific in the most part some may contain it. The way some manufacturers in countries where it is banned like Valvoline got around it was to label the oil with ZDDP as racing oil eg. VR1. I believe America has banned it for quite some years now. From reading around 1200-1600ppm is recommended for classic motors. As above, a good example is that Holden engine run best with 15/40 and with heavier oil they tend struggle with the hydraulic lifters being often noisier
  15. Swimming at Kaikoura in May.... LOL I would like to see that
  16. When this used to happen to Holden 6's when I was a kid it was just a warning light to tell ya to change your bearings within the next 50k miles and use some wynns in the mean time.... As said after you find it only has 5lb oil pressure and unless its knocking additive with each oil change is good. You may even want to look at a bottle of ZDDP as this is banned from the modern oils but the old engines need it.
  17. Isn't it about time we had a track day? I have no idea how to organise it but I am dead keen
  18. Possibly the car parks opposite Maccas would be nice and central and easy to find? Does my new Coma-dore fit with oldschool?
  19. ^^ They sponsored me free exhaust work back when I was racing streetstocks, totally nice guy but wasn't set up for larger diameter exhaust. Good to hear he now can do them as I will probably use him as well.
  20. Cool thanks. I think a 3.45 would be a perfect mix of street and strip. The auto is .70 overdrive so I would make 2500rpm about 114km/h as opposed to 128km/h So giving it a theoretical top speed after I modify the engine of 250km/h and a top speed in 3rd of around 175km/h which would be perfect for the 1/4 and get me looking at 12's at 105-110mph.
  21. Thanks for that Jase... not used to this later Holden stuff. So are VL onwards 28 spline and doesnt matter if its 6 or 8?
  22. Do Safe R do large diameter size exhausts? I have used Uniweld a few times, excellent service.
  23. Yea it is IRS but not sure what type of LSD it is. I will look at that option a bit later but may leave it if I am happy enough with the performance after some mods.
