Valve steam seals could be gone aswell giving you smoke and rough idle? all this is guessing, might as well take the head off sooner than later so your not stuck in a situation where you don't have time to find another head/valves

fix your compression first as said 2 cylinders with low compression is going to give you a rough idle

You said main problem is now ugly idle, this is possibly an effect of valve/compression problem. Would pay to rectify that problem as it needs doing either way then your not wasting your time doing all these other tests.

by the sounds your radiator is big enough you need to increase the airflow through it whilst stationary, can intercooler be moved forward to slide a thin electric fan in there?

Air will naturally want to flow the easiest way so a shroud is necessary. If this doesn't solve problem Mount Your fan on the other side so its pushing air through the radiator and mount up a locked viscous fan or constant fan

Trd lsd diff i have filthy ones old bike carbs to go onto it.
