  4. lol it was a guess hahaha dont really look at the rev counter when im doing warp 9 down the whatawhat straights lol good old wayne would be right it comes on way earlier so a gt30 would be the way to go? not to laggy and still has a good power delivery? as for the factory vvti manifold, yea its not the greatest, again sorry for the " dumb Q " i know zip about turbos so you will have to bare with me rgds jarred
  5. have one at work and used it to cut sections of the cowling on the chaser to fit the intercooler they work a treat and they do exist then use a pedofile to make the edges smooth
  6. my aim is 250 to 300rwkw and i think im being a realest there ( at the mo with shit tyres and with it poping off on the dyno 179rwkw ) but as im getting into alot more track work with this car i would like a turbo with like you say a good compromise between power and lag and the moment with abit of guessing boost comes on about 4000rpm and above ( i have the ebc set at 5% gain ) so yea something thats not to laggy but still delivers power ( make sense? ) i may be confusing myself more by also asking this but how much would a decent exhaust manifold help the situation?
  7. ok my dumb question how do you know what is the best turbo for your application? in my instance i have been told that a hks GT2835 Pro S turbo is an ideal upgrade ( forget the price as you dont want to know ) its tried and tested on a few 1jzgte ( vvti ) engines with good results but what i want to know is A) is this a big turbo?? if it is a big turbo what is a better upgrade than the ct15b ( lol i think thats the turbo on the vvti 1jz ) im new to the f/i thingy and will absorb any info that i get given
  8. sweet jebus 2 in a month karma is out to get you any way im dam sure a freind has a s13 with a blowin ca18det that has coil overs fmic etc for cheap same colour has your crashed one will be talking to him on sunday so can check if he wants to let it go and yea you need something with bull bars mad max styles
  9. oh true phew then hahahaha edit : should have looked at pic better
  10. gutted about the extra cost's and ex owners stuff up shame when this happens looking at those fuel lines and what not gives me the shits, no hose joiners just rubber hose on rubber hose.................ouch pull it all out re wire it re fuel line it start again and do it right!!!!!!
  11. yea cly 2/4/6 have coil packs and 1/3/5 have leads i think it is a coil/lead issue when i pulled the coil packs off, the boots were faded, didnt seam to have pin holes or cracks but were a off colour ( a light bluey green to the factory dark blue ) will swap coil packs over tomorrow and see if that fix's the issue, leads wont be here for another week and a half ( fingers crossed that they arrive before my track day )
  12. cheers for the info checked plugs and yip all set at 0.8mm steve the trouble isnt at low load, its at high load or up higher in the rev range took it for a spin down on one of the targa stages lol and noticed that the boost controler was beeping at me which means it was coming close to the boost warning level which i set at 14.5 psi ( feul cut i think is at 15psi on toyotas???? ) and then settled on 13.5psi ( the setting that it runs on ) now it done this issue that i have been having once..............then clared it self and ran mint, none of the plugs are fouled which makes me think it could be the leads or coils breaking down
  13. sweet so 0.6 to 0.8mm will be sweet? will re check gaps and come back with results
  14. so going to a colder plug effect anything?
  15. true other thing i didnt mention is i have gone up a heat range ( or is it down ) from bkr6e's to 7e's which alot of jzx100 guys say its a " basic upgrade ) could be another cause maybe?????
  16. when is it needed to go to a external waste gate?
  17. hello not oldschool i know but i hope pple here can lend a helping hand/high 5 changed all 6 plugs in the vvt-i 1jzgte beast today, which was all good and fine intill i drove home, while driving i planted my right foot to see if all was running correctly i noticed that my boost controller read 13psi ( which is what we set it at ) and has the revs climbed above 5k-rpm and beyond it felt hessitent, then it felt like it missed a few times, kinda clared it self then done it again now the wonderful vvt-i 1jz's have the three coil pack set up with three leads and have a issue with dropping a coil everynow and again, weather or not this is only under load i dont know, i also have the three other leads ordered ex japan ( two weeks away ) now to add to this i havent set the plug gap on the plugs, would this be the cause of the issue? would the boost pressure be blowing out the spark at high rpm? and if so what is the correct plug gap? many many thnks
  18. nice car man i like s13's and um............................you were going to pay money for those wheels? by christ i hope not opinons um dont lol
  19. so a boost controler would be fine aye? hook that up to the waste gate vaccum lines rather than the actator on the turbrew? p.s i love my factory bov on the 1jz, does its job real good
  20. and dam this car is fast on the track big ups
  21. nah not that hard can get 45 profile of 50/55 etc 45 are $$$$ pricey tho $$$$ sweet talk huntd im sure she will sell you her 16" toyos
  22. im new to this turbo thing too when running a waste gate do you have to run with a air regulator like in the diagrams that low n slow posted? thinking about getting a aftermarket exh mani and tubrew set up for the 1j, but waste gates are beyond me
