  1. Thanks. We put a heap of work in to the Avenger Panther and it is pretty much all finished now, I have a new custom fuel tank going in the boot then that is it about finished. Yup, Malcolm Clark did all the Mechanical and fabrication work on the Panther (Except bodywork and flares which were done at GT). Mal does an awesome job of making my crazy demands come true. I have the new V8 sitting down at his workshop now, just need to hurry up and save for the rest of the hardware I need. Can't wait. Thanks Funny you say that because I was just thinking the exact same thing. I was just talking to Mal on Saturday about the flares, he thinks they should go, and I agree with him. He suggested bubble flares like a MK1 escort but I said boring (no offence). Then I said how about a big wide body like a Group B rally car, like a Lancia Delta or Audi Quattro S1 (I would love a big Audi style wing on the back). I would LOVE the extra track but Mal said it will be pretty hard, I guess it is just how much money I throw at it in the end but I want! Oh and side pipes have been a must since day one Oh and we are making it a 2 door, moving the B pillar backwards and making the front doors longer. I was thinking maybe flares like this,
  2. Hi guys. So I have decided on a bit of a change of direction for my V8 Avenger. I have decided to drop the Rover V8 and go for a Toyota 1UZ-FE instead. I have just started on the first of my spending spree's. First up I brought a '94 1UZ-FE and a set of OBX independent throttle bodies. The rest of my plans for the engine include some new cams and to flow the heads a bit. next on my shopping list is a R154 gearbox and Hilux LSD. Here are some photos. 3. I love the bolt on flares. Always liked MK3's, love the rear body lines of the MK3. With my flares I had to bolt them to the rear door. I cut the body of mine all the way up to the bottom of the door then lowered the car to suit.
  4. Mal at By'gone Autos it a pro at Rover stuff, mostly older rovers, he races a Rover P6.
  5. I have been to the Bayswater show every year. Alway a great show. I will be there with a few other Avengers.
  6. That is the first thing I thought when I saw it, it looks soo Mad Max. and with the V8 it will look even more the case. It will have quad downdraft webers so they will be sticking up out of the bonnet also. We (The Avenger club) have been looking for louvres for ages. I have only seen a handful of Avengers rocking them so I may have to make some. here are some examples
  7. I have another 3 Cheviot turbo wheels for it. Here is a picture of it before I got it all Turbo'd up Yes! I totally love the idea of keeping it bad ass or WW2 german plane inspired. Like this Silvia
  8. Hi Guys. finally got the body shell for my next race car project. Plans for it include a Rover V8 with quad downdraft webers. All the flares, body kit and spoilers are steel, so somebody has spent a while on the body work so far. Here are some photos. Progress will probably start slow as I need to buy a lot of parts like the engine etc. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/28681-avengas-avengers/

    Flares -

I got mine custom made by GT Refinishers. I run the same size tyres only a bit smaller rims. I run 15x8 custom Diamond Racing wheels on the rear with 225/50/R15 tyres and 15x7 with 205/50/R15 on the front.
  10. Bygone Autos down on the North Shore did the same thing with my type 9 conversion on my Avenger. I had the same problem with my Avenger but they managed to get it to come up through the factory gear lever hole. Here is a photo And a link to the 5 speed conversion they did. They have since put in a quick shift kit which made a huge difference in feel. http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=60.0
  11. http://www.finaltouch.co.nz are really good at small repairs
  12. How about this carpark. http://goo.gl/maps/dJGsw We have a annual MoPar run to Matakana and we start from this carpark. it is always empty.
  13. Sorry for that lack of updates. She is all finished and back up on the road so I have been doing tons of driving. Drove down to the bottom of the South Island for MoPars in Gore, then Turangi for the NZ MoPar Forum casual. I did around 5,000km in 3 weeks, she didn't skip a beat. In other news, I took it out to the Dyno today out at West Auckland Engine Reconditioners. 86.8HP @ 6100RPM and 82.8lb-ft @ 5200RPM. Not bad for a little 1500. Anyway here are some photos from my trips and a video of the dyno run
  14. Just checked my hobit ticket and it is 12:01 on 13 december so it is actually the wednesday night so yeah I will be free. I am going out with my mates on friday for my b'day so I will be free for the comedy night. PM me your bank details
  15. I'm going to the movies in Albany. What time does it usually finish?
  16. 13 December is my birthday, not sure if I have any other plans yet (except going to see hobit at midnight), so unless I have other birthday plans then I might be in.
  17. They are okay once you get used to them. I just brought some new hinges and door latches off them a couple of week ago. I can email them and ask if you like, they know me quite well down there now.
  18. oh, I see. It is a pity I sold my Avenger BW45. have you tried Horopito?
  19. Bolt a 5 speed Sierra on the back of the auto bellhousing like I did. Or sell your auto bellhousing on the Avenger forum, that will help fund the manual conversion.
  20. A quick final update before my big road trip down to MoPars in Gore. It has been a busy week getting everything finished in time, but I can finally say my car is finished (well as finished as a classic car can be, I bet I will be doing more crazy mods to it when I get back). I got the tint done by Car Folie, I went for their top of the line 3M tint. I also picked up the last bit of upholstery for Grant's Auto Upholstery. Just had enough time to get some 3M stoneguard applied so I don't get any stone chips on the way down. The signwritter came over to my place to do the stoneguard and didn't finish till 7:30pm (poor guy but super stoked that he could do it before I leave). I also got a short shift gear lever installed on my Sierra gearbox, the gears are ridiculously close together now, it feels so racecar to drive now. Spent today washing and polishing the Avenger, got 1 day left to pack then I leave on Tuesday, can't wait. Finished my custom badges. I have named my Avenger as an "Avenger Panther". I figured it was no longer the "Avenger Super" it started out life as, and it is not an "Avenger Tiger" Replica. I decided to keep with the Tiger theme and create the worlds only "Avenger Panther". Had the Avenger Panther badges watercut out of 3mm stainless. Polished up the strut brace. Came out really well. The stereo is hidden in the glovebox. New center console and clock.
  21. Sorry guys, won't be able to make this one. I will be driving the Avenger down in South Island
  22. Thanks, those wiper blades work sweet. I got to try them out this morning in the drizzly auckland weather. Much better than the old ones. I took the Avenger out to a car show yesterday morning and it is cool to finally be able to use it. Looking forward to seeing how long the new meguiars endurance tire spray last. It must be pretty good as they were advertising it during the V8 Supertaxi race yesterday.
  23. Thanks. Yup, 200hrs plus for panel and paint. It took the heaps longer than they thought because the had to do a ton of rust repair, rust proofing and panel work. that time also includes making the flares etc. Grant said he spent 40hrs on the rear flares alone. They stuck to their quoted price so I didn't have to pay for 200hrs+ of labour (thank god) Popped down to GT today to show them the finished car. Thanks. Now it's time to drive it. I have just our a week before my big road trip to the south island.
