  2. sweet will post them this weekend
  3. got those caps for you, I will send them in the next couple of days. did you want a set of the plastic wheel nut caps too?
  4. yep, im super keen for this. if no one wants to take cars accross the water due to costs we can fly up then either catch a ride with one of the welly gc's or rent a car?
  5. I will take some pics in the next couple of days to show what I removed
  6. removed EGR Crap and cut some plates to cover the holes up. everything appears to be working as it should now. and it is noticeably quicker too so Isuzu = clocked (well until the next thing goes wrong) thanks for your help guys
  7. I threw a brand new turbo on it 6-8 months ago and cleaned all the lines etc out then at the same time i put the 4jb2t oil return line from the rocker cover back down into the sump to clear any excess oil build up in the head. I will put a boost gauge in and see if the turbo is doing anything. has near new glow plugs and injectors. It is still running the EGT crap I haven't removed it yet. I was thinking that something associated with it might be causing the problem as the fire was on that side of the engine. all the vacuum hoses are looking tired and a little cracked etc so it will be a good opportunity to get rid of it. I will try that tomorrow after work and report back cheers Karl
  8. hey guys I have a 1990 Isuzu Bighorn with the 4jb1t 2.8 turbo diesel motor. It had an issue last week where the starter motor solenoid jammed on basically cooking the starter motor and the wiring associated with it (caught fire) i have replaced the wiring and the starter motor. It now runs and goes well when cold. however when it gets to operating temperature it looses most of its power. you cant hear the turbo spinning up and it throws alot of black smoke out of the exhaust. im thinking it has cooked a sensor somewhere causing the wastegate to stay open? anyone have any ideas? cheers Karl
  9. I have a 1990 Isuzu Bighorn Irmscher S LWB. 2.8 Turbo Diesel Manual. looked around for ages to find one that wasnt rooted. ended up putting a new turbo on it when i got it. It has 31's. had to get some of those rubber guard extensions for it as they run a 205/70/16 factory
  10. yeah as valiant says cortina mk3,4, and 5 will all fit. I have a few spare driveshafts here (chch) if you need one
  11. send me your addy when you find a place to live and I will send you some centre caps
  12. I can send you a set of standard plastic centre caps if you want them?
  13. Drive the pants of it in WagON season (preferably to Wagnats which starts in 5 weeks from today) and do rust/bog repairs in WagOFF season.. WagON season is only Oct to Feb - WagOFF season is Mar - Sep I will have to fix it in wagON and wagOff season then lol. I might have it road legal by WagOn season 2012
  14. quite keen to make an appearence at this when i get my wag sorted... is this an acceptable wagon? needs the 50 odd kgs of bog/rust removing and a dose of lowering first
  15. sweet car, some good progress being made. I would love a GTO myself .... one day
  16. front guard will fit. don't think the doors fit as the body is quite different on a wagon. where abouts in NZ are you? I have a couple of sets of sedan doors
  17. buy a spot weld drill bit to remove the front guards. dont chop them off as you need to keep the inner guard and top rail intact
  18. pcv valve thing blocked? mine used to blow the oil filler cap off
  19. where abouts are you located goofy, got some lowering stuff for my hunter that I could sell if you are interested?
  20. there are a couple of options, using the gearbox the same as hunteds old cortina, its out of a 1600mk3 cortina with the imput shaft shortened a little, you can heat the gearstick up a little and bend it to clear the seat if its a little far forward The other option is to fit an anglia gear stick and selectors into a standard column change box, this brings the stick out to this sort of location, you do need to modify the reverse selector for the anglia stick to work. otherwise keep a look out for a standard floor change box. you would be paying somewhere between $300 and $500 for a smk2 floor change box depending on model/condition
  21. probably the last south island o/s meet for you too
  22. thought so.... so are you gonna come along for a bit?
  23. just come along anyway andrew, I probably wont hang about for ages as the mrs wants to go to the fireworks if its still on... lol and i can drop you home etc...
  24. yeah if its still raining I might just bring the daily as I will have to move a couple of cars to get the corty out
