  1. Just installed the Empi short shift kit. Makes a huge difference and totally recommend them to anyone running a VW. They are only like $17 or so. Took a few goes to get it working right and choping through the gears properly, because of the spring and reverse lock out plate (didn't realise the spring had to go on top). But yeah, got it sorted and works well. Just trying to figure out what to do with the dash to fit the tacho.
  2. Nice find Phil! I take it you must of picked it up down South? Cause I'm sure we don't have mountains like that up the N.I? Looks good. You should so flip the rear spoiler and use it as a chin on the front bumper!
  3. Just finished modifying the racks to fit. Narrowed, rear extended to clear the roof (plus give it some rake), clamps extended, extra reinforcing front and back so the end bars don't get bent under surfboard load. Stoked. Now for a re-galve + powder coating
  4. Update time: It's booked in to go get some spots of rust removed early next month (it's along the front boot seams so I thought I'd get a professinal to do it, cause I don't want it coming back) Also got some goodies for it: Got this for $10 off trademe they need to be chopped to fit though, which I'm going to be doing in about half an hour. Going to regalve them then powdercoat em white. Also got a short shift kit And some factory front seats ($8 each!) to replace the yuck ones that are in there at the moment. Going to get the cusioned and reupholstered. Also got a fancy mooneyes tacho, yeahaaa. And took the cd player out of the van and put it in here so have some tunes now
  5. Discusion thread here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21759 Thought I thought I'd try something different this time and got me a bug! Tis a 1300, but is running a rebuilt 1600 and it just purrs! Like hands down the best handling, fastest, and comfyest OS car I've ever had. Gets up the Kaimais (going to Tauranga) in top gear (4th) no problems at all. Quick enough off the mark and handles like a odd-shaped go kart. Gets a bit blown around by trucks being so light but it's all good. Has a few little bits to tidy up, a few rust spots, front bumper needs rechorming or replacing - but all in all, it's a great, simple little car. I can't believe how great they are, totally underestimated them. Stage one of the master plan is tidy up the few rust spots. Then add a pinch of roof racks ASAP followed by a healthy dash of rake (still deciding weather lay-back tail scrapper or staunch forward). Going to replace the tape deck with a cd player for some tunes. After that we'll see what happens. Stoke!
  6. Gutts. What a day! Pistons are filled with water, leaking oil = Engine gone. I don't have the money or bits to fix her up so shes going to be going up on Trademe soon unless someone wants it hear for a couple of hundy. Chuck a 2nd hand donk in her, and shes good to go. WoF and Rego'd bro.
  7. Oh yeah, here's a pic of the air-con unit if anyone wants it.
  8. PS Also have a pair of 12 slots in the garage (galvinized silver) if anyone wants them. Was wanting a crate of bushmans for them but... PRICE DROP!!!!1! A doz Reinecks and there your's that's like $11. That's a tiny $5.50 a wheel! I guess there around 14x7 at a look. Maybe 13x7. 5x114.3 to fit hilux/hiace/fords/mitsi's etc. Pick up from TGA or I may be able to deliver them on my travels possibly.
  9. So I had a slightly early day today, so I thought I'd do something I've been wanting to do for ages. I ripped out the entire air-con system. All the blowers, motors, pipes, electrics etc etc... turned out to be a bit of a mish as these weren't designed to be taken apart easily in some parts. There was a few spots where to undo one bolt you had to take another part off (i.e Exhaust shield), but to take that off you had to take another (i.e rear suspension) = a bit of a mish. Got it degased down at the a/c place as that stuffs bad for the environment. The dude said there might be a lil residue but they weren't completely empty and as I cut one of the hoses it saturated the back compartment and me a bit with refridgerent. Yay. This beasty was taking up leg space in the front seat so out it went: It freed up tons of leg room for peeps in the front seat (oh and there's the full bottle of V from I don't know when that was lodged under the middle row. Vintage V FTW): This was the unit under the middle row of seats. Gona leave them out for a bit and find some carpet offcuts at work to relay the rear floor as it's abit grot. So this entire unit is free to a good or bad home. If anoyone wants to have some lush 80's air con feel free to take it away. It's working fine and dandy, still had the original gas in it from '82. Reduce reuse recycle style. Going to put some 2% hippie tints on in the next week as I'm taking off on some adventures and don't have money/don't want real tints. Should be good for a giggle. Chucking a bed in the back for summer too.
  10. Bro, brown body on flat black rims rock my world.
  11. Got some of these lil bad boys at Beach Hop a few years ago and never got around to sticking them on anything untill today: From this: To this: McLovin em! I heart moon eyes. And done a rushed primer job over the stuff I striped cause it was gona rain: The current thought I had for this week is straigtening it out then primering the whole thing in Kakhi-coloured primer with beige/tan stripes.
  12. So yeah its been a while. This has been bothering me for ages, crazy cracking and bog falling out of the boot lid = not good: So was thinking I'd get stuck into it today and access the damage. Got a bit carryed away as usual Awesome.
  13. That's nuts. Small world eh? Tell her Blake says hi when you see her next. Hope ya coarse is going well.
  14. Yeah bro, me and Sora are tight hahahaha... How do you know her? Do you go to tech? And that pic your thinking of is Newdix beach
  15. Hahaha, sweet! You know it's tough when it's got rivets to hold the panels on! Sweet steering wheel! Is it a dedicated camper I.E no rear seats? If so have you thought of the suspeneded bed, storage underneath setup? You know try utilise as much space as possible?
  16. Hey dude, thanks for that, they came up pretty sweet if I do say so myself! I can't remember exactly how long they took but it was a fair few hours + expences. So it'd be pretty expencive aye. Plus I've allready got hella amounts of work on at the moment till at least after chrismas so probebly wouldn't be able to do them in time for summer camping sorry. Maybe there's a engineer down your ways that could knock em up? Got any pics of your L300? Post em up dude! Sounds mean.
  17. You little beuuuty! Thanks for that man, seriously can't remember seeing those pics. Cheers!
  18. Hey can, someone help me out big time? I'm thinking of chucking my visor on finally, but have no idea to what kinda brackets to make. Does anyone have a pic of how a visor is connected to the car (aka the bracket) or could be a super sport and take a pic or two for me? Finally got a bit of time to go down and knock some up at the old shop I used to work at. Any help would be appreciated.
  19. Are you on smack That's one weird post, I think I've deciphered it: You and Ham think the ceddy and prince were better for cruising? And that you love me? yuk. I'll catch up with ya when I get back from Oz and Bali in a few weeks dude, and I'll ask ya then. Also, if anyone has some rad pics of this shape Delica/l300, please post for inspiration palesse! That yellow thing is awesome, left hook as well.
  20. It's a sweet base shape to start with dude. Love the window-in-the-door thing too. Jelous.
  21. Legend!! Looking good, and a fine choice of engine, makes a nice change to see. Finish it! Also, TD04HL's FTW thnx. A seriously underrated little turbo. Super quick spooling, but give enough boost. If you could find a pair, that would be ace. Don't know if it was the turbo or the gearing in my RVR, but dam it got to 100 quick, but started to slighty run out of puff shortly afterwards.
  22. Mate, thats a fine car there. Fine choice of wheels. What's the hot rod looking thing in the reflection? Tis a dream car of mine. Only have to wait 20 years or so to afford one. I can drool over yours to pass the time eh?
  23. Is it just me or are the alloys smaller than the rims? Or is it just a optical illusion, the pleats in the tyres maybe?
  24. Hey boe, this bad boy set me back only $2g, score, considering it just ticked over 100,000 km yesterday. Not bad for a '82 van. The 'stars are 14x7's. Good size, not too excessive, just bolt on and roll away. Just needs slammage.
