  1. Hahaha, this is true. Better pencil in about a fortnight for the round trip Cool man, it'd be great to see this bad boy there, it would definanatly get a lot of love I'm sure as it's something different.
  2. Go over on the weekend, and cruise around in the evening man. Fri/Sat evening you can cruise up and down the street. People riding all over the show and the police don't mind - I had about 15 people in the delica, standing room only with people all out the sunroof with the police following behind. You can't get fast anyway, maybe 10kph, so it's all harmless fun. Did get told off for a mate hanging off the side of the beetle standing on the running boards though. But they only told him off and didn't question the 9 people in the beetle! I can give you some sweet ideas for places to camp where you won't get stolen if you want hahaha...
  3. Man, this thing is so rad, digging the tray rails. You taking it to Beach Hop Tori? It'd be mad for chucking sheep/peeps in the back and doing laps! Chuck some hay bails in there for seats and away you go
  4. Hahaha, cheers mate. Yeah I agree with all of the above! Lowered on 16" steelies is the long term plan, but have to sort out a few things first. (like getting a new engine in the Mrs G11 charade as the big end bearing is hanging on by the skin of it's teeth) I really dug your Homy too man, love your style Going to fully "borrow" your bump stop design. Is that cool?
  5. Discussion here - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=31260 So here's my new 1box - a 1984 Nissan Caravan - one of my dream cars. I had my eye on this car for years, and last time it was up for sale I couldn't sell my car quick enough to get it. This time round I made sure! It's only done 106,000km on it's Z20, and going well. Not too much rust (mainly surface and mainly on the roof which is quite manageable) Features include: Sky high ride hight Moon roof Air con to africa and back Side window on the passengers door (awes for parking) LWB 8 seater Factory alloys All the perks of the high end "Silk Road" SGL version including the "waistbelt" 5 speed manuel Solidstripe "likes this": HELLAFLUSH / STANCEWORX etc etc etc MEGA DISH / BOZO etc etc etc (thanks to my favourite double CD for helping, couldn't find a Barrel 51 can/cell phone/tamaguchi or any other such thing) Rod Burgendy interior with little fold back table in the centre console: Got a sweet sticker for it: And also first things first, got some new old roof racks for it. Yay, but too small: And that's despite all the extra feet it came with that supposedly change the size etc. So a bit of modification to that will be needed. It was originally off an 80's Cressida or something. Feels so good to be back in a Nissan. Compaired to the old delica, this thing is a brick! It just crusies! Doesn't get buffeted around nearly as much as the Delica did, it's really nice and steedy and comfortable. Painting the roof and fixing one of the side windows will probably be first on the agenda. The long term plan is to turn it into a sweet camper/cruiser/modern day kombi for trips and like. Should be fun Allready took it on a roadie around the Rotorua lakes and then up to the Coromandel (in the North Island) about two days after we brought it. All the back seats fold down to make a bed, chuck a blow up queen mattress on it and it's ubber comfy. Fin
  6. Sad days. Sad sad day... Condolences for you and the family, she was a good ol' girl. I reacon this car IS oldschool. As in, what it's all about. It will be missed.
  7. Ho my goodness, forgot all about this rad van!! Am in the process of aquiring one at the moment and your've allready gone and done all the things I wanted to do to it!! Great minds eh? Hows your van going? Done anything else to it? Want to sell your roof racks?
  8. It's nice to see that again!! Reminds me I must ask him if he'll let me borrow it as a wedding car. (maybe we could get both!!) Mate, your gloria looks the bees knees and ankles in that colour. I really like it and reacon it'll look awesome once all the trims back on. Give it a go and see what she looks like cause it might grow on ya. Would the painter give you a discount if you kept the colour for getting it wrong?
  9. Yehaaaaa!!! Nice to see another one back on the road. Nice find!! Pillarless too... Any more pictures of those wheels?
  10. Howdy peeps!! Put a set of EMPI headers into twin EMPI mufflers the other week with the help of viv's hands. Finally got a digital photo taking machiene and thought I'd upload some pics: And since I have a wedding coming up next month, thought I would throw in a free plug since it's for sale http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 598596.htm
  11. Yeah I'd love to drop the front with narrow profile tyres and widened steels with large tyres at the back. Yeah got new suckers for it when I renevated and modifyed the racks. Para Rubber shops should have an assortment of suckers that aren't very expensive. You should check them out if you need them. They also sell long foam "noodles" that I got while I was there and cut the length down one side and they clip over the front and back so you can throw surfboards on them with out having to put them straight onto metal. FYI if your thinking of chucking something like that on yours.
  12. Wow, this hasn't been updated in forever! So here's the run down on the latest happenings, with photo's to come when I get a camera: Had the rust cut out professionaly of the rear section around the vents and then failed a wof on a spot of rust in the floor pan where the battery had leaked. Not wanting it to come back, I got a brand new half pan put in at the VW Shoppee in Hamilton where I now live. So that was a couple of thousand, yay. Also put a sweet external visor on and painted it white. Still puts a smile on my dial aye...
  13. Bit of a nothing much update to get some motor-vation going: Have been having some problems with the engine feeling slugish lately, stalling at lights/stops while in neutral, hesitations, no tourqe down below 2,000rpm (and it doesn't rev high, redlines at like 4,000rpm normally lol) so have had a very narrow rev range as of late. So gave the engine a bit of love today and woah! It's like new! Nice power delivery now, so smooth, no hesitations. It's like when I first brought it, and is sounding good. Think the distributor might not be tight and might be twisting around slightly over time and retarding it. But tis all fixed now, so I'm a happy camper. Replaced the front headlight bulbs with replacement H4 bulbs for a WoF, but the drivers side high beam keeps blowing imediatly. The parkers and normal driving lights work fine, but yeah, any ideas what could cause it? Because they are expensive lil things to replace. Also, insperation photoshop: Also have been thinking about a pop out rear quarter window conversion, has anyone done this to a late/super?
  14. Hey mate, congrats on your hard work paying off - it's looking really really cool. Love your work. Just one thing about your insulation with the poly, if you can, you don't want any gaps between the sheet and the frame aye. Have quite a bit of training in eco houseing/sustainability and have learnt that having gaps or missing insulation affects the preformence of it big time aye. So just a thought for ya to help keep ya warm, try keep the poly fitting as snug as possible! Keep up the good work and the awesome postings.
  15. 10 points to Mr Yowzer! Someone gets the paint sceme! And yup, drop spindles/slamage are definatly in my masterplan!
  16. Also, fun times at beach hop, a photo taken by B.I.G photography: That's not me driving!
  17. After months of driving near-blind over the Kaimais to see the GF all the time, and scaring myself witless with the lack of headlight vision at night, I thought a headlight upgrade was a must. Got some sweet 7" halo projector lights with H2 (or was it 4?) bulbs to replace the stock ones. Notice the diff? And added bonus of parkers being, I'd say rice, but since it's german, it's a bit sourkraut. But hey, it's blue. Also got the tacho moving wired up, couldn't find a hole in the rear firewall so ran the signal wire through the rear wheel arch for the time being lol. Yay for low revs: Big thanks to Ham for being the sparkey from 'nam (or lynwood at least) Cheers bro!
  18. Nice job of the pinstriping Oskar! Is that your 1st time trying it? Came up pretty good at any rate and the visor looks mean! How'd you attach it in the end? Pop rivets or bracket?
  19. Why howdy y'all! Got the beast back from the panel beaters this avo, now with no rust in the front cut! If you look closely at the first pic in this thread, y'all will see some rust in the front panel down the bottom, and there was some in the front channels under the bonnet. Should of taken some before/after pics but forgot, meh. But it's got some new channels and apparently had a bit o' rust around the front headlights and the top of the bonnet. But all is removed and looking good! Stoked! Just a little bit in the hinges and passengers door and she'll be right as rain! Also went and got my roof racks hot-dipped galved and powdercoated, got them back today as well: And got me some essentials. Drink holders! Randomly found these, and score, they look wicked. Never seen any like this before, genius! Just slot em down the window chanels. (Don't drink and drive!) And one more pic for the road:
  20. Console is looking good. Please tell me this is coming to beach hop?!
  21. Thanks for that link torton, kinda shows the subtle differences between beetles over the years. Plus gives me a rough idea of how much rake to add. I know what y'all mean about leaving the guards but it's just that that's how pretty much everyone seems to do two-tone on their beetles, and I'm not one to follow the crowd... Here's a pic of the rear, just gona go a bit deeper shade of brown, cause that colours a bit peachy looking. Oh yeah, the tow bars off too BTW.
  22. Hahaha Tori, actually lold at last sentence. Was thinking of keeping the gaurds blue as per the "usual" two tone but it looks kinda like a woody panel which doesn't really suit IMO. Think this way looks more hotrodish style.
  23. Yeah, it's just a replacement panel - theres no way I'd start hacking into the interior part of the body if I couldn't change it back to stock if I changed my mind. It's just a lil panel that pops in and out. Thanks guys for the comments. Thought the colour scheme is kinda "sand & surf" kinda colours, since this is gona be my surf wagon. (as all my cars are) Gona keep the blue the original colour but just brown up the rest to make it a bit differnt from the other blue ones. Will probebly cut the back of the racks down, I just extended them to clear the roof, but will see how they look when they come back from the galvinzers next week. Then off to the powder coaters! Does anyone know where to get new suckers or feet for the rack from? As the old ones are a lil bit haggard.
  24. Seeing as it's up at the shop getting some paneling done, I was thinking about colours. Maybe now might be a good time to change it if I was ever too. Came up with this, what do y'all think? Kinda resto-cal looking
