  1. Yeah about $400.. maybe $500 max.. but it would have to be a bolt-in affair, prefferably with no cut off mounts like alot of them have. Must have working calipers and handbrake cables.. I might even consider a MA45 rear diff or any other disc brake diff which can be made to fit with little modifications.
  2. I never ended up getting that diff.. guy decided not to sell it in the end.. grrr Mark, lemme know if you hear or see of a TE71/AE86 T series with disc diff pop up for sale.. I'm sure a man in your position sees them turn up from time to time

No. They are two different series of engines. The share the same mounting points and thats about it externally. Wiring should be the same, they use the same distributor layout and the carb should only have the one fuel cut solenoid wire going to it.

1600cc and 2000cc share same cross-member, but the 1200cc model doesn't. Not sure about the gearbox cross member, but the 4G63 will bolt in where the 4G32 used to be. Water lines should pretty much be the same as all the outlets/inlets and water pump are in the same position. 4G32 manifold will not bolt up to 4G63.

    Brakes dont work?

Sounds like the brakes aren't bled properly yet. I had the same when I replaced my master cylinder after doing a drum to disc conversion. We bled the brakes and the pedal felt firm, but once I started the engine and drove the pedal went straight to the floor - bled them again going through about 500ml of fluid in the reseviour and all is sweet now.
  6. Benchgrinder with a wire brush wheel with brake cleaner works good on valves. Probably best you take the head to an engine shop and get them to acid bath it, test it for cracks and straightness and maybe get it planed a little. I did that to my head and it came back looking brand new.
  7. I posted this on Toyspade, but thought I would put it here as well, as someone might know. I've got a NZ-new '82 TE71 SE 2 door with S series 8 bolt diff and drums. I've spotted a TE71 GT disc brake T series 10 bolt diff for sale, but it's missing the hand-brake cables. I'm wondering if there are any other handbrake cables off any other Toyota (or any other car) which I can substitute. I don't really want to fork out for genuine new ones, the diff alone is expensive enough. Also, are there any other Toyotas of that era which would have a suitable brake proportioning valve, as I will be going from drums to discs on the rear. Cheers
  8. That 4G63 link is only specific to the Evo III. Remember, the 4G63 started in 1980 and is still in production today. 4G63 could be a SOHC 8V carby engine, or could be a MIVEC DOHC turbo like in the Evo 9, unlike Nissan/Toyota etc Mitsi doesn't have a designation on the engine number for DOHC, EFI, Mivec - only T for turbo. Basically - 4G63 SOHC 8V carby from 1980 to 1988 was approx 90hp@5500rpm to 110hp@5000rpm depending if RWD or FWD, or low comp/high comp. 4G63 SOHC 8V turbo was 150hp as found in RWD Galant/Eterna and Starion. Intercooler versions were approx 170hp. Sirius DASH 3x2 was 200hp. 4G63 DOHC 16V in the E39A was 220hp, or 240hp for RS and Evolution models. Evo I was 250hp, Evo II was 260hp, Evo III was 270hp. 4G63 DOHC from 96 onwards (Evo 4 shape), changed orientation in the engine bay. Evo 4 to 8 is restricted to 280hp, but is usually much more with the newer Evolutions.

    Oil light

My old sigma did the same thing. It was just the oil pressure switch which was faulty. It would flicker when idle, and sometimes wouldn't go out until you revved it a bit. I replaced the oil pressure switch and it fixed it. BTW it should be under $10 from supercheap.. none of this repco rip off shit. Should be a Tridon TWS0017 part number.
  10. Not that it's oldschool.. but the 'IAMEVO' Evo 1 got stolen on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. It's white and stock looking, with white Evo 2/3 15" OZ wheels, and a loud as exhaust.
  11. Bumpin this up. I only just realised before that you were the Dan from my brother's wedding in Taupo! Small world huh?
  12. I'm pretty sure the Cortina cam belt shares the same belt with the Mitsi 1.6L/1.8L/early 2.0L SOHC engines. Bosch BT089 I think it is.
  13. Not really. I'm working on a pretty tight budget, both money and time wise. I have a 2T-GEU in peices in my garage, am slowly putting it back together with new bearings, rings, gaskets etc. It has an S series diff with drums unfortunately, and tiny solid 240mm rotors on the front. Suspension is pretty sloppy - needs new bushes and shocks at least. At the moment I'm just working on getting it looking tidy, then I can start with the serious stuff like dropping in the completed 2T-GEU and do something with the suspension and handling.
  14. Haha hell no. I still haven't fully made up my mind, but I'm considering white for cheapness, and the fact that it hides dents and imperfections - or a silver metallic maybe if I can afford it.
  15. Could a mod please merge these two discussion threads together. Cheers
  16. Hey dude thanks heaps for that info. I didn't actually see this post here until now - I think there's another thread in this section for my corolla as well - could get a mod to merge these two together.
  17. Update time As most of you probably know it was painted matt black last year Anyway I finally got around to starting the panel beating and rust repairs before I start painting it. Current 2T-B engine missing the air filters Dash cluster Tinted out and with my old 16" BBS wheels on Am still building the 2T-GEU to go into it, but haven't got pics yet.
  18. Or roadside reflectors Haha yes.. or as we call them the 'highway bodykit'.
  19. Since when do rally cars have sideskirts made of heavy checker plating? Wouldn't it better off with big mudflaps.. you know what all other rally cars have?
  20. Most likely welded up. The standard cast manifolds should have a flange. You could always use this as an excuse to get extractors if you don't have any already
  21. Haha yeah dude loose those ugly sideskirts - only thing worse is planks of wood bolted to the side.
  22. The only manifold that will fit is a belt drive 4G32.
  23. That's one of the last of the RWD series Sigma. Probably was a run-out model. Check the usual places like at the bottom of the doors, sills, bottom of the guards, in the boot under the rear windscreen etc. Mechanically they are pretty sound, it's a low milage example so should be fine in that aspect. That model uses the G63B SOHC belt driven 8V carb engine putting out a massive 100hp@5500rpm. Rear end will be solid axle with drums. Front will sport 256mm ventilated rotors. It does look like an absolutely mint example. Are you planning on doing an engine conversion or something?
  24. I bet your front park lights aren't going also. They are all on the same circuit. Check the relay for the park/tail lights - I'm betting that it's faulty.
  25. The GSL is a 1600cc 4G32, which has the same bellhousing pattern as the G6x series. The only one it wont fit is the RWD SOHC Turbo block, out of Starions etc. Most people with EX Lancers have the 1200cc version, which is the 4G11 I think from memory. The gearbox in that does not match up to any other engine series.
